Dr. King Schultz... how freaking awesome was that character! Put a director like Quentin Tarantino in with an actor as extraordinary as Christoph Waltz, and half the time you're going to get pure gold. I don't even know whether I should consider Django or Dr. Schultz the main character!
+Nancy from Montclair American culture has spread worldwide with Hollywood and brands etc, it's called cultural imperialism in media. Other nations cultures get replaced by American slowly basically haha
I can tell you. "Americanized" in Austria would mean to subdue to entertainment and commercialisation and to become superficially friendly It is a way to see American culture. But AC is more than that. Knowing Waltz as an Austrian Actor and now an Austrian-American Actor I would say it was a joke in both direction: Makin fun of - sometimes - superficial American culture and - at the same time - at Europeans to be so arrogant to not see other aspects about American culture.
I love how noone in the audience got his sarcastic remark about americanizing his kids as soon as possible( 0:22). just shows how subtle and intelligent his humour is. Grüsse
Subtle Humor and ironizing oneself is European, but something Americans don't understand. The sense of Humor is the greatest difference between the USA and Europe.
The audience laughs off his interpretation, but they shouldn't. It's quite brilliant. If you look at the lyrics to the "Sesame Street" theme, they really are "haunting", as Waltz says. They're basically asking to get to a place full of sunny days and friendly faces, a place to play where everything's "a-okay" . . . and yet, it never says in the song where exactly this place is. If you think about it, metaphorically, we're all still trying to "get to Sesame Street".
I think their awareness of that depth, coupled with the knowledge that it's just a kid's show theme song -- is why they're laughing. It's why I laughed.
Ah, okay. I thought they were laughing like, "Why is he taking 'Sesame Street' so seriously? It's just a kids' show." But I like your theory; it makes sense,
+Phoenix Down you know .... I didn't write what I really think about him 'cause I was afraid no one feels the way I do . but deep down what I wanted to say was that he's : EXTREMELY !! sexy , handsome , cute , talented , humble , polite , hilarious , kind , classy , intelligent , charming , SUCH a gentleman and SUCH a deep thinker ... (I can go on forever ya know) I just love and respect him SOO much ^_^
I watch Sesamstrasse with my daughter, here in Germany. The theme song actually says to ask questions or you'll stay dumb, lol. Less sunny than the American Sesame Street song I grew up with.
Loose translation of the German intro would be: Who, How, What... he, she, it (it would be the female article, the male article and the factual article - but the, the, the sounds silly) why, why so, wherefore, who doesn't asks stays dumb. Thousands of cool things are to be seen everywhere, sometimes you got to ask to understand them.
I would pay to watch Christopher Waltz sing that on Sesame Street with pouring rain drizzling down as he holds Elmos hand walking off into the distance.
he is actually crying, tears are welled in his eyes, when he is doing the interpretation. OMG.. it is really suprising me that he has a remarkable concentration while the audience are laugh off. how amazing he is...awesome
+Jimmy Kimmel Live Just put how old Sesame Street is into perspective, Sesame Street was around when Christopher Waltz was a kid... I think. It was definitely around by the time he was in his teens.
Just can't comprehend the abilities of great actors like him...they're tons of audience in front of him laughing, and how can he maintain his emotions??
the german theme song is also pretty deep , Der, die, das, ( That one , that thing , that ) wer, wie, was, ( who , how , what ) wieso, weshalb, warum, ( why that way , to what end , for what ) wer nicht fragt, bleibt dumm.( who does not ask, stays unknowing* ( *or stupid but that would be rude ) )X2 Tausend tolle Sachen, ( a thousand cool and interesting things) die gibt es überall zu seh'n, ( those can be seen everywhere) manchmal muss man fragen, ( often one must ask questions) um sie zu versteh'n. ( in order to comprehend them) Der, die, das, ( That one , that thing , that ) wer, wie, was, ( who , how , what ) wieso, weshalb, warum, ( why that way , to what end , for what ) wer nicht fragt, bleibt dumm.( who does not ask, stays unknowing* )
Wer? Wie? Was? Der! Die! Das! Wieso? Weshalb? Warum? Wer nicht fragt bleibt dumm! Tausend tolle Sachen, die gibt es überall zu seh'n. Manchmal muss man fragen, um sie zu versteh'n. :)
He's such a good actor that I didn't even realize at first that he was setting up for a skit. Usually in these kinds of situations it's obvious but... I really believed he still watched it and thought it was deep lmao
Christopher Waltz turned it into an emotion that an adult wishes so dearly to go back to their age of innocence and love from his family . that adult might be living in any big city chasing his/her dreams living amongst heartless and greedy mob.
I actually liked Christoph's performance in Horrible bosses 2, it's one of his best actings ever. Without Tarantino, he won't be the actor, which we all know by his terrific performances.
"They need to be Americanized in time." The fact that the audience doesn't understand that this is a joke makes it so much more brilliant.
They're American, what do you expect?
@@kushdubey1111 yup
Haha that was such an obvious jab against americans, but they didn´t get it. Priceless aha
Legend has it that this is what he did on his audition for Inglorious Bastards.
This act shouldn't be laughed at, he actually had teary eyes
It's called acting
+Ariaditya Pramestu ikr ! i'm aware that he's acting but ... I can't stand seeing him crying , it breaks my heart
It was laughing to "awkwardness" not "hilariousness".
Over thinking over analyzing separates the body from the mind
Acting is REAL emotion, it is just not a real scenario ;)
Chris Waltz is a blessing to this earth.
Dr. King Schultz... how freaking awesome was that character! Put a director like Quentin Tarantino in with an actor as extraordinary as Christoph Waltz, and half the time you're going to get pure gold. I don't even know whether I should consider Django or Dr. Schultz the main character!
Brian Klock Django who? Dr. Schultz? All I could see was my beloved Christoph. :)
I love how nobody laughed at "They need to be americanized in time!"
He can't believe nobody got it :D
What did he mean by that ? Lol I didn't get it
+Nancy from Montclair American culture has spread worldwide with Hollywood and brands etc, it's called cultural imperialism in media. Other nations cultures get replaced by American slowly basically haha
What was there to catch??
+CosmicLight Yes, youre right. 我不喜欢美国媒体。现在每个地方都有美国的影响了。

What a fantastic actor!!! And what a great sense of humor!!
I love how noone in the audience got his sarcastic remark about americanizing his kids as soon as possible( 0:22). just shows how subtle and intelligent his humour is.

@@flamingchinchilla3583 Sorry but your comment also shows that you don't understand sarcasm. It's not about accent at all.
Subtle Humor and ironizing oneself is European, but something Americans don't understand. The sense of Humor is the greatest difference between the USA and Europe.
Audiences are directed. They are told when to clap or react in a certain way.

Well Say you absolutely RIGHT
you are sooo right sir!
a place we seek but few will actually find one.

Christoph Waltz is such a gorgeous man

this man is amazing, what a great actor!
It is actually quite depressing it's about the search for happiness and never finding it.
That deserved an oscar, he actually had tears in his eyes! Christoph is amazing
Can't help but feel this man is wasted on an American audience..
agree lol
As an American, I totally agree
He isn't. Get off your high horse.

No, I like the view from up here.

How do i count to 5 in German?

Brian Klock Eins, zwei, drei, vier, funf
Boobalopbop aye que bueno! uno dos tres cuatro cinco !

I have such a huge crush on this man!!!
You are not alone 😜
Same
Christoph waltz is so cool he’s got this witty charm that makes everyone love him
I am sure he is a lovely person to get to know, but like Clint Eastwood, I would be terrified to even annoy him.
I just laughed so hard reading this. Lol
Really wish he was in hateful 8!
Great actor.
YES me to he would have played a better hang man than that other guy I thought I was the only one who though that
+Jake Torrance I think he meant Kurt Russell's role, John "The Hangman" Ruth
+Jake Torrance Or i just might be stupid
he was actually considered for the mexican(?) part, but didnt pick up the role bc of scheduling errors
He would've been great for Oswaldo Mobruy but Tim Roth was okay, too.
I would pay to watch Christopher Waltz sing that on Sesame Street with pouring rain drizzling down as he holds Elmos hand walking off into the distance.

If I'm not mistaken...there are tears in his eyes during the last verse.
Now that's acting
Christoph Waltz, a man who can make you cry just by reciting the theme to Sesame Street.
He really needed that hug.
His portrayal as Dr King Schultz in Django was astonishing.
I have a crush on Christoph
Such a brilliant actor.
I was about to cry!!
quentin tarantino's next movie sesame street
I can't physically express in words how much I love Christoph Waltz.
This man is an absolute legend.
Have you ever imagined a film with Christoph Watlz, Daniel Day-Lewis, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep? Scorsese/Tarantino directing?
Stop teasing me!
That would be godlike.
Tarantino writing and Scorsese directing, and maybe robert de niro or joe pesci could make an appearance.
Tyler Durden
With a tint of Kubrick and Hitchcock.
Lions4322 Sure, why not? :)
I watched Sesame Street until I was 14. Thank you, Christoph, for very unique delivery of the theme song and for your sheer brilliance as Blofeld.
