That was an interesting assessment. Some things I agreed with, others I disagreed with, and there were areas I felt could use more context. Like most PokeTubers, Phill's info should be considered, and I try to state that sentiment with my content as well. Keep in mind doing your own research before investing and considering your goals, budget, and time before any purchase. I like how you thought this through and gave an honest opinion. Subed
We haven’t gotten an alt art style , top tier rarity pikachu before. If the art is good, it’s easily gonna be the most expensive card in the era so far. A lot rides on that one card sure. But Having the latios and latias as additional chases already puts it over most of the other sets in the era. And you know people are drawing the comparison to that old card. Similar color, same pokemon, connecting art. If the second half is just as good this is gonna be the best mainline set so far.
Fair points and i watched his video and agree some of the points were off base but ill tell you why surging sparks will be potentially a great investment. First the set is already hyped up like crazy, online sales at multiple retailers are double for what they have been for last couple sets and my personal game store sold out pre orders for the set in one day. Second, the set is massive with 11 SIRs and 23 IRs, if hit rates stay the same it will be extremely hard to pull any specific card and couple that with a couple chases already in lisia, latias, and yes an alt art pikachu almost guaranteed at this point, will drive singles prices and create even more hype. Also you say we only know half the set as a bad thing but i think its a positive because it means we have 6 more sir and outside the pika that leaves 5 more sir we dont know about yet on top of yhe chases mentioned earlier and great artwork for the IRs. You say pika hasnt held up its price as a chase but there isnt really a fair comparison. The full art chu in vivid voltage was the hit card and was popular until alt arts came and killed those types of cards the other was only in a japanese set but i like to compare his popularity to greninja and with an alt art card that will be tough to pull i bet thr value stays high. Early hype plus then large set will keep a cycle of buzz on the set and prices will prb rise fairly quickly. As long as the set isnt printed into oblivion i bet this set comes out fast and stays up. I think even if there is not a lot to go with the pika and what we know the set is still good but i imagine we get other things and this set is the best of sv so far but time will tell. We should hear more in a couple days when they officially reveal some of supercharged breaker.
Yes of course time will tell and I agree with a lot of what you said BUT! If that pika comes with a terra crown ina weird pose , it’s over. Sure the Lisia will do good in Japanese but I can’t imagine this card being over $60, same w latios and latias. Hype is there sure , but I can name so many sets w crazy hype that have fell flat. I hope I’m wrong and people make good money on it or however they choose to enjoy it
Poketubers are worse than high school girls. The Pokémon community doesn’t need you or anyone to hold our hand on how we spend money, we can distinguish ourselves what to buy. As much as i enjoy the cards that have been leaked, I've been trying to not go down this path myself just out of excitement, were all human. We can only speculate on what we have so far and just assume that anything with pikachus face on it will generally sell well
Technically every Pokemon set is investable every single set since the beginning has increased in value over time pick any that you like hold a bunch of booster boxes for 5 to 10 years they're all going to at bare minimum double in value
Def not the case. There was a dark era of pokemon collecting where product DID NOT raise for multiple years. There’s a video on TH-cam called the dark era of Pokemon tcg that I recommend u watch
What it “ sounds like “ and what’s criticism are two different things. I stated multiple times in my video that being on the internet comes w fair criticism.
If a big set has difficult pull rates with memorable pokemon. It's an investable set. No financial adviser can say different unless the individual doesn't have the capital to pay for his/her bills and style of living. Every set goes out of rotation every 3 years. It always goes up unless it gets printed to the ground.
I would respectfully disagree. If anyone’s strategy is to buy at release and hold for 3-5 years then sure it doesn’t matter long term. A lot of people want to rinse and repeat after 2 years , double the money by picking good sets, then repeat
@@HenrysPokeCorner Agreed if you are going with that strategy but even then it's hard to predict optimally, especially with no data and prelease. Makes more sense to wait a bit and adapt with actual market data if you focus on the setlist (TV data being one of them). But these TH-camrs live on speculations because it makes great content 😅
Bro, this feels like the sports cards space. I collect Topps (baseball) and it's almost every set, they will let you order/pre-order the product, without any checklist prepared. No idea who is in it, who's autographs are attainable, but they want you to buy into the hype and FOMO.

I watched a lot of Phils videos and hes the classic example of anyone can make it big in a short time as a poketuber if you say something with enough confidence, in an articulate way, use chatgpt to make scripts and have great editing skills. Its obvious to anyone who has been into pokemon for a long time that he knows nothing about the franchise between diamond and pearl and sword and shield. He constantly makes HUUGE mistakes when talking about that middle period but his audience doesnt realise because they werent around at that time either. He is very knowledgable about yu-gi-oh but that doesnt pull in the views that pokemon does, so that what he turned his focus to. In the end I just had to stop watching because he says things about those middle eras which aren't true as if they are facts. At least when guys like you make mistakes you admit you came back in at the start of swsh and dont try to pretend to be knowledgable about that middle era. I dont want to spew hate but the guy also tries to pass himself off as some kind of marketing genius.
