Donna, it is BEAUTIFUL. I just traded my Chevy express van for a Toyota 4Runner. I can only afford to have one vehicle, and my 2 wheel drive van was not good at all as my Daily Driver in Colorado. My next task is to turn my 4 Runner into the ultimate camping vehicle! I’ve been watching Shoestring Martha, who camps in a 4Runner. It’s so much smaller than my van but I need to learn to live with less. This video of your friend’s Suburban will help me a lot with ideas!!

Things about using Suburbans/Yukon Xl's as builds are that they have a lot of room, can handle the elements and can go off the beaten path. Other thing is that parts are easily available and any garage can work on them.

Not sure about this generation of Suburban, but the 2000-2006 ones have a space for another battery next to the passenger side firewall. If so, your friend can either add an extra battery or move one to gain a little more storage space. I assume your friend has the batteries hooked up to charge off of the alternator when the vehicle is running and disconnects from the car battery when the engine is off.
