I used a stand alone scale to verify (it measures .02gn) and it was pretty consistently close. Usually no more than .04 off…more often than not dead on or .02 off. Close enough for my standards. If I was doing benchrest I’d probably manually trickle up the last .10grains to get it dead on but for $300, it really does a good job

My lab scale (FX-120i) is 0.02GN increments and I always load Exactly to that with no spread, this goes only 0.1GN so in my opinion it's gonna be all over place. Just within 0.1s
@@Marzoochi Not necessary, typically my RCBS lite chargemaster will be .02 - .04 below target but pretty consistent with .04 - .06 gr variance at most. Also I have FX-120 and it fluctuates more than my Gem Pro 250, I don't know why but I've had numbers change when you pickup and put the pan down even with screen guard and I've seen where numbers will kind of flip back and forth let's say between .02 and .04gr, I even seen that in other people's videos. Also static has been a problem with the glass pan and fine ball powder, when I dump it out, some powder is still stuck to the bottom which throws the weight off by 0.1- 0.2gr.

Appears to be a very nice and easy and accurate scale to use. I have always wanted something like this but could never justify the cost. I calibrate a powder scale to dump a load several tenths of a grain less than my charge target. I dump the charge into the Hornady digital scale and then easily trickle the remaining few tenths into the pan then dump the charge back into the case. It is actually quicker than the electronic dispenser but definitely more labor intensive. To each their own. Each step in reloading, from decapping, resizing, trimming, chamfering, priming is all a labor of love and I never grow tired of any of the steps to know I've reloaded a quality round.
Mine arrived. I calibrated it. Went to dispense first load. The tube turned 2 times and stopped turning. The tube was not properly torqued onto the motor. When it came unscrewed it dumped the powder inside the case of the dispensor. No where in the manual does it mention to make sure they assembled it correctly. Being Hornady product I figured that would go without saying. After disassembling the unit to get all of the powder out since that didn’t seem safe on the electronics. It doesn’t seem to calibrate well. Checking against other digital powder scales the numbers just aren’t the same each time. After contacting vendor it’s going back and I may try the charge master supreme next. 🤷♂️ Love this channel. Greatly respect Gavin, would love a little transparency when something isn’t right. Not everything he checks out can be that amazing.
Yes, compare them with real data so consumers can know what they need to buy if they want to get their desired level of performance. A line graph accuracy vs dispense time is the way to do that.
I bought one 2 days ago and love it. I did have an issue of drifting readings and it wouldn't throw an accurate charge. I was trying everything and it would take a long time to calibrate or sometimes wouldn't calibrate at all. I took the red pan off and right at the back one kernel of 4831 got down in the crack and that was the problem. I got it out and all is well, but be careful about getting powder or anything else in there. I made a dust cover for whole unit when its not in use.

I have had this one for quite a while probably threw 4-500 charges on it. I can say it’s every bit as accurate if not more so than both my balance beams. Been using this for about 6 months now. Works well. If I find it to have issues with charge error, I just slow down the speed. Real easy to do. You can adjust how it measures out the majority of the charge and set it to trickle the last bit. This allows for nice accurate charges. It will keep measuring out powder until it meets set target. The measurement system is sensitive finding charges that are over and displays error accurately. It then stops and requires you to handle the error. I compare charges periodically by weighing on a different scale to make sure they match. Nicely accurate. The only bitch I have is the powder drain can be messy if you don't pay complete attention when you are draining it. But it's a small matter considering what you are getting.

If you have a powder measure set to say 24gr and then place that load onto the auto charge, with a target weight set to 24.5gr, will it just trickle up the 0.5gr? That would make the process much faster.
How well does it work with longer stick powders Like the IMR that will not run in my Dillon. I would like faster reloading in some of my rifle cartridges. With some of my magnum powders becoming harder to get I may need to run a few IMR longer extruded powders. Just don't want to waist the money

When did this change? Lately, more often then not, you are seemingly handing out positive reviews to everything that you get paid to promote.
- mon avis.

@@2025944 definitely, one of my better upgrades, the bigger the sticks the slower the speed I set it at , works perfectly so far.....
@@farmerdave9312 alright I’ve made my purchase I just hope it has a good lifespan of solid accuracy seems like a solid product I’ve got a lot of brass paired with hornadys auto progressive press it should make it’s money back
@@2025944 yeah I load on a turret so by the time I get around it's ready again, drop in funnel easy ....tried a few different powder throwers on top of the turret, now that was a waste of money to get a precise consistent load lol
@@farmerdave9312 I’ve gotten it and it’s pretty damn nice but does yours like to not zero sometimes? I might need to try for a new one…
I received one as a warranty replacement on the original model. So far I like it better still check it agents my beam scale. No major complaints so far.
Just ordered one. Selling my Charge Master Pro 1500. Time for an upgrade. Have had the RCBS for 15 years.
I would like to see each throw from the loader scaled for accuracy. so I really like it.
That scale looks awesome. Just ordered one.
Electric Powder measurers side by side comparisons please, such as this one against others like Frankford Arsenal Intell, RCBS master, Lyman whatever etc.....
Pretty sweet unit , but I have had the original model Auto Charge since they came out,
and it's still running today.......... maybe one day !!!
Always double check the powder removal port, ask me how I know !!!
I have the original model. It works quite well after changing similar settings that you did. I don't see any major reason to upgrade mine. Your scale did the same 24.1 reset to 24.0 as the original one. I think the scales are set to not undercharge. An accuracy check comparison on a beam scale would have been usefull. Thanks for sharing.
I upgraded as I was having problems with hands getting the sweet spot on the keypad. An expensive fix but so far I'm pleased.
Ive had the old ome for a few years now and have had no trouble with it. Kind of messed up with the first charge or two but once it gets going it is good to go. If this one is better I would seriously consider buying it
I have the "ORIGINAL", and if it ever quits working, I will invest in the "PRO"! It's seems faster in response time 2 start dispensing powder when pan is replaced! Also faster in dispensing almost up 2 charge wt. I'm not going 2 fix something that isn't "broke", will wait until mine decides 2 stop. Thx 4 the "DEMO" , Ted
My auto charge broke and Hornady got me a new one. And I could upgrade with a small fee so I could get a Autor Charge Pro instead. And it awesome piece of machine!
Need vídeo side by side with rcbs, Lyman, Frankfort. I love how technically you make this videos
I just bought this unit from midway on sale. I haven’t used it yet. Lots of chores need doing first. Might do a test this weekend just to make sure it’s not a dud. Thinking Chinese electronics will be getting scarce in the near future.
I got this scale in the spring. Seems to work great with h4350. I spent a lot of time experimenting with the time settings to get the fastest drops.
I recently purchased this unit and so far seems good (only done pistol loads at this time) just like a lot of the comments I’ve seen so far, I would like to see a accuracy test done on the scale portion on this vs a higher end scale to see where it lands. I have used a beam scale for years and then purchased the Lyman 1500 before buying the Hornady and was very unhappy with the Lyman. I couldn’t get any consistency. So far the Hornady is on with my beam scale. I would just like to see how close it actually is by comparing throws against a high end scale. Thanks for all you do
I've been using the Auto Charge Pro for a year and love it. But I have been unable to find a way to easily reset the charge-dispense counter, or to just turn it off. Great video, I look forward to an accuracy test in a future video.
Seems to be a good piece of gear!
I agree with others stating you should have compared the charge weight with another scale that you know is accurate. That would make a better review.
Looks like a great product !!
Great video. I plan on using mine soon
the core of the system is the scale. we need to know about its repeatability and accuracy. then we can discuss about everything else.
Concerned that you didnt call out the 2 over charges. You glossed over them. :-(
It happens. I had the first hornady and it sucked, bad. My rcbs chargemaster has been great for years but there are days it overcharges multiple times, and days it’s perfect.
@@jonathanm1854 more warm up time.
@@OvertonWindex I usually try and let it warm up Atleast 10-15 min before every use. I turn it on and then start priming brass and getting ready. It’s been 98% good.
@@jonathanm1854 I've got a chargmaster lite, I let it warm up for an hour, if I do so, it does not over or (under charge((false beep)).
I also noticed the over charges but If hes sponsored by hornady than he won't want to say anything negative about the product or he won't get future hornady products to review
If I were in the market for a new powered dispenser this would certainly be a top choice. If it were only made in the US...
Maybe you could do an addendum to this video. Seems I’m not alone wanting accuracy data. See countless comments below.
I think this unit's greatest feature is its narrow footprint. Other than that, it functions like any other electronic measure/scale.
All good and well, would like to see these loads verified on a more accurate scale.
If you had to choose between this Hornady or the Frankford Arsonal dispenser, which one would you take?
We really need this, but for food supplement powder.
If you have a powder measure set to say 24gr and then place that load onto the auto charge, with a target weight set to 24.5gr, will it just trickle up the 0.5gr? That would make the process much faster.
You missed out on half the fun making sure the drain was turned up.
Thanks Gavin
I have a question about the Auto Charge Pro... the recess in the top of the powder hopper lid... what is it for? its not mentioned in the manual
Warming up is very important.
😞doesn’t have a tube cap / boot for dispense tube.
Why no follow up with the lab balance to see how accurate Hornadys numbers are? You did with RCBS?
How well does it work with longer stick powders Like the IMR that will not run in my Dillon. I would like faster reloading in some of my rifle cartridges. With some of my magnum powders becoming harder to get I may need to run a few IMR longer extruded powders. Just don't want to waist the money
Is there any way to stop the counter that shows up after every dispense?
Personally used, they are nice but slow. I can charge by hand using lee powder measure kit, Frankford arsenal electric scale and a trickle charge in half the time it takes the auto charge.
I have a Tikka t3 tac with a new barrel, chamber in 6mm ARC. I need to buy a replacement bolt, do you guys make a bolt smaller then .473 face? Or something that would fit in the Grendel.
The lack of comparison to your A&D FX-120i lab scale leaves me to think that the Hornady is all over the place. This channel used to actually compare products with a scientific mind, now it's just clearly a paid endorsement channel.
From your channel description;
"Ultimate Reloader LLC is committed to publishing subjective and data-driven information+insights related to products whether it be favorable or unfavorable or both."
When did this change? Lately, more often then not, you are seemingly handing out positive reviews to everything that you get paid to promote.
I keep trying to convince myself to get one of these.
please do the NEW rcbs chargemaster SUPREME
I just got mine from Midway it will not calibrate I will return it and try another one
Thanks,got one ordered
- mon avis.
Nice unit!🎚🙏🇲🇾🇲🇾
Shame on you.... Checking out another Man's unit 😜 😂😂
How does it work on IMR 4350 long cut powder
Hi, witch one would you recommend, the Hornady Autocharge pro or the RCBS Chargemaster Supreme?
Hey Gavin, realistically with the supply shortage atm, is it a good time to get into reloading? Or should I just ride it out. Do you foresee prices continuing to increase, or flatlining as their are less buyers and competition will increase?
When is the best time to plant a tree? Thirty years ago. When is the second best time? Today.
If you want to do it do it.
Start small and look for deals as they present themselves.
Gavin, this or the RCBS Chargemaster Supreme?
lmbo!!! now he gets Lab Nerd efficient with gloves to Calibrate 🤣🤣😂🤩
Does the fluorescent light affect the scale? It does with mine. (Not Hornady)very interesting
why dont you check the loads on the A&D scales to check consistency?
It looks a lot nicer than my Chargemaster light, which isn't adjustable and has the most annoying BEEP ever. It is $100 more expensive though.
I am curious if the auto charge or auto charge pro will work in dispensing buffer for shotshell loads. Have you ever tried it?
Gavin how do you rate the Hornaday charge pro vs the lyman charge master?
Nice review Sir. Thank You.
Much more expensive than the Chargemaster Lite in my country. Is it better?
can the machine be used with black powder?
Unboxing videos... Curls my back hairs..
mine is drifting like crazy after i moved.
Gavin will it store loads like the rcbs?????
How in the world can you guys say anything bad about this man? He brings us good info. And shows the bad. If you don’t like the info or think its bad, go buy off the shelf.
This vs the rcbs match master ?
nothing was said about a memory. Can you store different loads ?
Does anyone know how to reset the counter without unplugging the auto charger?
Need an accuracy test please
How is it compared to the rcbs charge Master?
How does this account for different density powders?
What's with the gloves?
