    1. kudos for the switch on the back windows - when we camped in a rented van it was grazy to have to crawl to the front, turn key (dash lights come on argh) and open the window. When I finally bought a van, I solved the problem by finding one that happened to have manual back windows :-)
    2. I am so jealous; I am too chicken to mess with the original van parts! probably comes from originally making a kit to fit in a rental van. Also, I never owned a car before, so it is still fancy to me! I really appreciate what you have been able to do by attaching things to the body of the van.
    Looking forward to the next update!

    The thought and DIY engineering that’s going into this is next level. Thanks for sharing the process and rationale. It’s helpful for those of us who’re tryna take inventory of of our personal considerations when building. Take care.

    Thanks Vince.
    This is great info. on how to hot wire back windows. So handy without having to turn key on if lying in bed.
    Thank you also for the warning that the main window controls @ driver side won't control the back windows any more.
    Cheers

    Wow I’m enjoying your videos ( great camera work Tammy! And explanations Vince! ) and yes you are both clever...the hinged door looks slick! The lazy Susan is brilliant! The little oval doors look great...you guys think of everything....I use to own a 2006 grand caravan and camped with the kids in it with a van tent...it was so comfy...the DVD player was great....excited to keep watching the build 😎🇨🇦👍

    Vince, this is so fantastic! I’m also converting a grand caravan and am following along with so much interest.
    Is it possible to use a similar trick on the sliding door windows, too? So that I could open them without the key?

    First to like. Great job! I like that you changed the window switches. Do they work without the key being on?

    • @VinceSaluto1
      @VinceSaluto1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching yes the switches will be hooked to the battery of the camper in back and they will be operatable all the time

    Can you explain your reverse switch and how it differs from an ordinary switch? Why does a plain switch not work in your application? Rocker switches give me so much problem. My brain just can not grasp the multiple ways to use one.

    • @VinceSaluto1
      @VinceSaluto1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching an ordinary switch just simply turn something off and on just makes a connection and disconnects a reversing switch reverses the two wires so you’re right and left wire or one and two wire become reversed hooked opposite

    • @equallywrong
      @equallywrong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VinceSaluto1 ok. so a reverse switch is as its name implies...click once the window opens, click a second time and the window closes. got it. okay, i have one more question about rocker/reverse switches. I was trying hook up a meter to my AGM battery panel to measure charging and discharging current. It should have been simple: connect the poles on the switch to the + terminal and shunt on the battery. if the switch was in position 1 it would display charging current. if the switch was in position 2 is would display discharging current. if the switch was in neutral (center) position it would just display voltage. unfortunately, all it would ever show was the "net" of the two....meaning if it was in position 1 and I was bring in more current than I was using it would give a net charging current reading. same if it was in position 2...if I was using more current than I was taking in it would show a net discharging current reading. Do you know how I could wire the switch to give me a full charging reading and a full discharging reading. I simply am going bonkers trying to figure this out and not short something and lose my investment.

      I think you’re talking about a different kind of switch this switch is not a one click two clicks it’s a hold down to the right side or hold down to the left side and depending on which way you’re pushing the switch it makes a connection just while you’re holding it soon as you let off it releases it’s not a one click two clicks
