Do not apologize. We all have different tastes. We like what we like and don't what we don't. If we all had the same tastes, it would be quite the boring world, wouldn't it?

I am 69 years old, so I grew up listening to the Bee Gees. Love them. The Bee Gees never had professional training for singing, in fact they can't even read or write music, even though they do write all there own songs as well as fore other famous singers. They started out singing as kids at the ages of Maurice and Robin (who are twins ) 6 years old and Barry was 9 years old. They became famous in the early 60's and have been making some of the best music in history. Maurice and Robin have both passed away now and Barry is the only one left. They also had a younger brother named Andy Gibb who was famous as a solo singer, just as good as them. But he has also passed away.

Robin and Maurice are twin brothers. Barry is the older brother and main singer. He did both lead vocals and high falsetto ending rifs on the record but Maurice did them here in a live performance. This song and era was the midpoint of their career and a transition from a rock band to an R&B sound and eventually disco. Prolific songwriters too they wrote many hit songs for other artists like Al Greene, Barbra Streisand, Dion Warwick, Selene Dion, Kenney rogers and Dollly Parton and more. Long long 50 year career which began as a child act in the 60s

The 70's had such a vast array of musical genres with so much talent all over the place, it was a magical era. The Bee Gees represented one particular arena and you can't come from the 70's and not feel something special when you hear any one of their songs playing. It takes you right back to those moments in time.

In this song Barry, the "falsetto king" discovered his Falsetto (head voice). Their producer wanted a high scream at the end od the song, barry tried and wondered, what tones are coming out of his mouth and the falsetto king was born.
They have sooo many beautiful songs without falsetto - lonely days, in the morning, how can you mend a broken heart, words, heartbreaker, Kiss of life, blue island, living eyes, will you still love me tomorrow, tomorrow tomorrow, first on may and and and!

None of them are vocally trained and none of them can read music! It’s just talent! This was live in 1975 so listen to the recorded one in the cd and you can hear it really well.
They started singing together in 1958 and went all through 2003. They also played the instruments by ear and taught themselves how to play.
They had another younger brother, Andy Gibb, that you should react to as well. He had a great solo career cause he was too young to join his brothers when they formed. His first 3 singles all went to #1. Written either by Barry alone, or a combination of Barry and all the brothers. They also sung background on Andy’s records.

They dropped out of high school at 15 or so to pursue their dream of music careers. No formal education musically... self-taught on guitar, piano, other instruments (geniuses) . They could NOT read music or transpose their songs to music-- They hired others to transpose for them. They had near-perfect, if not perfect pitch. Barry was writing songs at 12 years old and at 17, he was so prolific, and could now work at writing with his talented brothers. Barry won Australia's songwriting award at 18-18 years old..

I copied this info for you because Barry didn't always perform with the high falsetto. The Bee Gees' sound evolved from pop to R&B and disco during their career, and Barry Gibb's R&B falsetto became their signature sound in the mid-to-late 1970s and 1980s. The falsetto came about by accident during the band's time in Miami, where they were influenced by R&B and shows like Soul Train. The brothers found that singing in falsetto together was easier to blend and gave them more range.

Anyhoo, although The BeeGees were pretty amazing 'live', I think the studio version of this is much better, of course that's just my opinion.
Also Dominika, you mentioned about how cool it must have been to work with your brother's/family. Well it's a well known fact that the brothers Gibb didn't even talk to each other through most of the 70s & early 80s. And it was all down to ego's. But as they aged & matured they got over it. Just like now if you see a kid and want to be friendly in public it's looked at as creepy, times were way different on this type of topic. Girls liked to be pursued and kids were cute -- now you're a stalker or a pedo

I have groups that I absolutely love…they all have songs I don’t like. It’s pretty normal.

I wish you guys would react to album recording more than live music.

No they were not trained at all on their vocals. They just had the gift of singing. Good genes....

I really wish you would listen to Studio versions first this way you get the full richer sound of the song

I do not understand why Reactors choose to react to Live versions of a song they’re hearing for the first time. I would prefer if you heard the original version we all heard back the day. Still ❤the channel lots!

Some of their songs are not the best thing ever, but most of them are pretty amazing.

They have never had any vocal training. In fact not one of them can read or write music. They have only sung songs that they have written. They have written for soooooo many artist other then themselves. They can all play instruments and Mo who was actually singing the falsetto here because they were live. They had been doing it since the age of 9 and the twins 6. They actually broke up for 18 months and came back together and in one night wrote 3 number one songs. How to mend a broken heart, Lonely nights and a song for their brother Andy Shadow dancing. This is one of my favorite songs (I am partial to the songs without the falsetto over powering the song). One song I absolutely love is Fanny Be Tender with my love. Paul McCartney and Quincy Jones said it was the best R&B song ever written. Just subscribed love your honesty in your review.

They're never ever had a music lesson in their lives.....they started singing together since Barry was about 8or 9 and the twins were 6 or 7......none of them can read or write music......they do it all organically......Maurice is a multi instrumentalist and their in-house musical expert......
