The reason you couldn't find ingredients on skincare products is because, in 2015, the Indian skincare market was almost nonexistent. It's only in the last 3-4 years that people in India have started caring about skincare, hence the emergence of so many brands.
In the name of skincare, all we did was use Himalaya neem face wash and Ponds or Nivea cream. There wasn't even awareness about sunscreen. Nobody I knew used sunscreen or thought of it as essential. Skincare and makeup were considered for the rich and celebrities. In my house, we only had one face cream and one body lotion that everyone used, so buying a cream for your skin type was and is still a privilege for many. Even with fash wash, my parents never used it until I became a teenager. The clean and clear facewash with the little beads was given to us in school. It was so cool to see a separate soap for the face. 🤣🤣
And, while I didn't grow up with acne, many of my friends did, and the only thing they had to treat it with was an over-the-counter herbal "medicine" drink called Saafi, which was supposed to "purify" your blood. For makeup, we only had one foundation, Lakme, with two shades-light and dark. LOL, IK, and just one eyeliner.
I'm delighted to see you using an Indian brand. I am a big fan of Minimalist's face moisturiser and the anti-pigmentation actives 08% cream. They also have an SPF 60+, so you can try that too. ❤

Ah so true.. you forgot to mention fair and lovely the most dodgy product on the market till date. I had to finish one bottle of Saafi given by skin care specialist in the family. It never worked for me but I can still feel the horrible bitter taste in my mouth 😮

Oh and don’t forget turmeric face mask for acne. Well turmeric is still good for all skin care though which is still used by many Indians as part of taking care of skin at home or home remedies. Aloe vera as an ayurvedic skin care is still used by many Indians too.

I am using this brand starting from their launch. It's cheap but effective. Particularly their sepicalm moisturizer is a bomb. I have sensitive dry barrier compromised skin. Also, I am allergic to most of the heavy fragrances and severe asthmatic tendency. This cream is perfect for me. I use it for everything. Soothing, sunburnt skin, mosquito bite, chapped hand and legs etc. Some of their products are actually better than The Ordinary. Other products for dry sensitive barrier compromised skin from their line are PHA toner and Oat cleanser. I use both all over my body. They are cheap enough for that too.

Minimalist changed my life. I have had acne for the past 17 years and there were PIE on my face and back which have not faded in 5 years. 1 month of niacinamide and alpha arbutin changed the game for my skin, it lightened the dark spots and the hyperpigmentation. I have been "cyster" all my life, fighting cysts are a never ending battle for a person with PCOS but gurllll minimalist has given me hope by providing these extraordinary products!!! I am so glad that you explored this brand!! I hope you will be able to get ur hands on the PHA 0.3% toner and azelaic acid too!

Thank you for putting India on the skincare world map. I wanted to ask you about one particular Be Minimalist product which has a controversial ingredient. It is their Multi-Peptide Serum which contains Bio-Placenta. This ingredient has made many Indian skintellectuals skeptical and even scared of using the product because apparently it is packed with EGFs and it can lead to proliferation of cancer cells if they already exist in our skin. So, we'd be very grateful if you took a look at the ingredients and let us know whether the product is safe to use or not.

Ooh yes to tha aha bha peeling video. Also to the ppl in the comments the vitamin b5 moisturiser is amazing! It has truly reduced my breakouts and lightened my dark sports. The spf 50 is absolutely gorgeous too! Works so well and does not break me out. The salicylic acid and alpha arbutin personally did not do much for me.

I usually apply a moisturizer with a somewhat matte finish over a serum that has that sticky feeling after it. I find that usually negates the stickiness AND prevents transepidermal water loss even further. Just a suggestion (feel free to ignore).

  • @Priya-ir8xy
    @Priya-ir8xy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

When I was literally building a skincare routine around watching Hyram, Cassandra, Dr. Dray, Dr. Shah, and Dr. Vanita in 2020, I came across the ordinary, only to discover it wasn't available in India and that importing it would cost me a lot of money. Then came "Be Minimalist," which was trolled, mocked, and called out by everyone for blatantly copying the products and packaging of The Ordinary. The price point is extremely reasonable, and over the course of two years, the brand has re-evaluated and purchased so many products that even the average person does not see the immediate results of working on packaging, some consistency issues, and also the L-ascorbic powder, which did not work out in India. It literally cleared my acne for over two years of consistent use, and I really understood how fragrance-free and clean products do wonders on skin; of course, diet plays a major role too. I had severe cystic acne, a damaged barrier as I used to use a lot of physical scrubs, hyperpigmentation, oily skin, and dullness; my absolute favourites are the AHA/BHA peeling solution, PHA toner, salicylic acid, Granactive retinol, vitamin C, salicylic acid cleanser, and niacinamide. I keep repurchasing them; I've lost count of how many I've purchased. Their multi-peptide, SPF 50 sunscreen, and glycolic acid body exfoliator are currently my favourites.
PS: I have clear, acne-free, glowing, healthy skin and a healthy barrier now; of course, it took a lot of time. Never skip sunscreen re-application, especially when I've just exfoliated my skin or applied retinol the night before; eating vegetables and nuts; drinking plenty of water; exercising; limiting cheat meals to one per week; eating mindfully; being happy; accepting who you are; and most importantly, being patient with results.

@@uditabhattacharya2824 i hope my comment reaches you. But you can try a exfoliating cleanser like tha lha one or a toner either of two and a salicylic acid serum . Thank you so much for this video! As an Indian teenager who deals with acne, skincare is hard for me. It's so hard to find good, fragrance-free, cruelty-free products in a supermarket or pharmacy in India. Pretty much the only option that we have is products that are available online. Most of the products you generally talk about are either not available in India or are very expensive in India, with some exceptions like The Ordinary which is availabe but it relatively expensive when it comes to some particular products of theirs. Thank you so much for talking about a relatively affordable, creulty-free (I believe, but I'm not sure) Indian skincare brand! I love your videos, Cassandra! Thank you! 💖

Granactive Retinoid is a blessing for my skin
And it's niacinamide and sunscreen are the best.
I am so glad that i got to know about minimalist .
My acne scars are slowly healing (it took 6 months though to show any change)and it's controlling the redness on my skin

I started using minimalist product from this year summer. I had a very bad break out which lasted for entire month and my face was covered in acne which resulted in acne marks. I started using minimalist product that is niacinamide and retinoid. My acne marks were gone after two months of regular usage. This brand has done wonders for my skin.

Cassandra you should try these absolute amazing products from be minimalist
    1. Tranexamic acid serum (the best thing youll get for PIE and PIH)
    2. lip balm (an spf 30 lip balm which can easily defeat laneige lip mask )
    3. Spf 30 body lotion (comes in huge amount for its price and is soo moisturizing).
    4. 16% vit c serum (can call a dupe for skinceuticals vit c serum)

I live in india and deal with acne. I tried Minimalist's 2% SA serum earlier this year and while it was good for my acne, using it somehow made my dull. I had to switch brands and I finally got the Mamaearth Tea Tree serum with Willow Bark and SA. Kinda the same results but with more glowy skin.

they only have one toner out, as of right now, but that toner has CHANGED MY SKIN for real. i had struggled with acne for about 7 years and this toner really changed the texture of it so drastically... it has aha and prebiotics and probiotics, which is actually really helpful in reducing the acne-causing microorganisms on the skin and introducing helpful microorganisms that strengthen the microbiome and moisture barrier of the skin

Whoaa this is such a pleasant surprise as I am Indian ☺️ I have acne prone sensitive skin. I started using the sepicalm cream in winter 2019 and kept using it. Even throughout the summer and yes I live in hot humid summer of India. And it suited my skin perfectly. I still use it morning and night! Other minimalist products I use and can vouch for their quality - 2% salicylic acid serum, 10% vitamin c serum. I tried the sunscreen you showed here. It's a little too oily for me ( even in winters. I tried to skip my sepicalm moisturizer and wear only the sunscreen but it didn't suit me at all) India has some amazing skincare brands- effective and affordable. So it's really nice to see them getting exposure ☺️ ( some other skincare Indian brands I think are really good - earth rythm, suganda, Mr sheth, dot and key, plum)

Hello beautiful, love your honest reviews. Being an Indian I feel so proud you made a video on Minimalist, there is another Indian brand you will love "Quench Botanics" it is inspired from Korean beauty and has really wonderful products for oily acne prone skin, made with gentle yet effective ingredients. Please can you make a video on the Mama Cica range, I bet you will enjoy them as much as I do. Love from India.

Hey Cas, big fan of u since lockdown 😂😂. Had lots of time to browse through. Your videos literally taught me how to read the inci list for products. Minimalist is a game changer in India. Right now my morning and evening routine involves so many products from minimalist. Their Niacinamide 0.5 literally soothes my skin. Some products definitely better than Ordinary I feel.❤❤

ive been having really bad breakouts since summer and i really dont know why (maybe stress?). the thing is, ive been using my 5% lactic acid the same way for the last 2/3 years HOWEVER i feel like everytime i use it my acne gets worse. i stopped using it but now my skin feels clogged and ive been having breakouts on my forehead (which never happened before). i felt seen when Cassandra mentioned in 4:30 that the chemical exfoliant can actually make your breakouts worse

I guess she researched a lot and found out that india skincare is still underrated and if she tried the product and help us as everyone know we are one big economy so win win, smart move, really liked the video btw.

So happy to see an Indian brand reach an international market and get the respect it deserves! ❤
Also, minimalist does have an absolutely amazing toner called the “3% PHA face toner with multi Biotics” which is alcohol free and is so hydrating and non-oily! I use that toner and anyone who has acne should definitely give it a go because it’s formulated so well that it doesn’t sting but hydrates and calms my skin and it’s really helped it acne scars! Hope this helps!

Huh I wasn't aware that Beminimalist was available outside of India. Sooo many influencers in India just bashed this brand when it first came out 2 years ago because it was trying to be India's The Ordinary. But I was overjoyed because The Ordinary was very expensive then in India. Now TO is also available here at competitive pricing but I still prefer Beminimalist

Please do videos on the best of minimalist products and also the best Indian sunscreens that one can use with no white cast. Also sunscreens I know can be used before applying the makeup but how do we reapply the sunscreen in that case or does the setting spray keep it in place and we do not have to reapply? Can you please do more videos with Indian brands.. it would really help us a lot..
