I'm from Texas and just started to get into carp fishing hard to find the best carp spots around me because no one really targets carp here in the states. Most people here think I'm crazy but Its just so much fun to catch these fish just a shame I have to order all this tackle online no tackle shops around here sell any of this gear. Anyways great video keep up the good work.
For me method feeder is the best way to catch carp if the lake isnt too deep(2 to 3 meters) and its also dynamic way of fishing, other way is with alarms and PVA bags, feeding with rocket but its too passive (you just sit and wait).
I can go back a little earlier than some, ledger wrapped in some home baits, similar set up but yeah, it worked, and good corn, meats, and party sausages, chopped
I've been using the method feeder for larger and more illusive carp recently. I think they have their place even on harder venues over leads, reason being is that the method feeder (look at any underwater videos) when it sits flat, is much less visible to the fish and not as easy to knock against and spook as its just not as tall as a lead. So much so I often wonder about just using it as a lead and loose feeding over the top. I havent found a difference myself when fishing with the hooklength inside the pile of bait or outside with about a 4inch hooklength. I personally just put a big ball around both sides of a method feeder like the traditional ones (but the modern flat type), leave the hookbait loose and give it a cast. The hookbait will still sit in the bait if its short 4inch or so and it doesnt really matter which way up your feeder is sitting if the hookbait isnt attached to the feeder. (this is just for carp fishing mind with a 14mm banded pellet) if im fishing for bream or owt else il do it normally, maybe even have the method free running It does work for big carp, although I do find that the feeder knocks around a bit close to the fish and hooklengths can get damaged on the larger fish during the landing proccess, which im not keen on and did lose me a 20 the other day...
@@doversole some anglers in Russia catch on the so-called "Tverskaya" feeders. Porridge is tightly packed into such a feeder and short leashes without bait are used. Google what it looks like, I think you'll be interested
@@noamnoam857 I'm good but thank you. Used to be oats and corn then method feeder and corn for bait. Well past them days now but nostalgic all the same
You can’t judge which feeder is better because you had different coloured hookbaits on for each feeder, should keep them the same to get an accurate result
I am at the first "fish on" section of the video. I believe they will be about the same in reality between old and new. But as you have a Korum Hat and Top on... I will wager the Korum ones will win...
I still have some in all sizes. Haven't got the heart to throw them in the waste bin, though I'll never use them again, after using a flat bed, and hybrid feeder.
I remember seeing them in my local tackle shop in the mid 90s. Originally it was called the dogshit method, because of what the fully loaded feeders looked like, but this was shortened to just "the method" by the angling press. Same thing happened with the flying condom spinners, which are now universally referred to as flying Cs.
Quality stuff mate. Loved seeing the way fishing has adapted over the years. Top angling with the switch to the zig there too. I don't suppose you could give any advice on a good quality set of alarms to go for? I want it to be reliable and durable. I find there are so many options to go for but obviously it is a substantial investment. Any advice would be awesome!
I remember them but I was terrible at casting and I ended up loosing t multiple rigs in trees and on islands Then i had a break bought a new feeder rod for maggot feeder and I used a small cage but after practice I got better now 90% of my fishing is on newer method feeder...
where Method Feeder excell in my opinion is wild, where fishes are shy and not really willing to swallow the hookbait instead they will go for the ground bait, and by mistake they will swallow the tiny waffter or pop-up
In my teens I'd swear by moulding damp 6mm green swimstim pellets around an old fox method feeder with a big lump of spam on a short hooklink. Deadly stuff must try it again one day!
So why would you not leave the bait loose hanging instead of pressing it into the bait ?. That way it cannot land under your feeder cage. That's how we use it in Hungary and it works brilliantly You can get more bait out in one go.
Great video I prefer the older style of method feeder. Would love to win the tackle box im a young angler an it would really help and I would really appreciate it. Tight Lines 😀
Brilliant video Brings back funny 😂 and great memories casting the old feeders 😂 great 👍 video
Used elasticated ones at drayton res over 20 years ago with groundbait or vitalin dog food. Great memories . We thought they were like a grenade lol.

Who remembers swimfeeders and swing tips.

Late 80’s or early 90’s for me

Nash r5 if you don't want to spend much or r3 if you don't mind paying a bit extra for a better alarm and receiver

We used to just put pellet around the lead

Mid 90s I remember using them…
Awful things 🙈
Fox came with inline method feeders late 90s
