I'm still driving an 85 Celebrity. It has the 2.8. Right now it has 147k on it. It had 87k when I bought it 8 years ago. Excellent cars, but after 31 years they are getting hard to find.
Rs Pro I've got one with 70k original miles, but the mechanic (thinks) it has distributer problems (it ran for 120 miles then we replaced the dist and it did exactly 120 again and replaced again but it can just be that the problem) Need a parts car? lol
My parents had a 1985 Celebrity wagon bought in 1987..2 years old from Ferman Chevrolet in Tampa,FL..as a second car to supplement their 1980 Camaro 305 V8 4 Barrel carb..as it was getting older...it was bought as a demonstrator model from Ferman also...so almost new..never titled...as a kid I hated the Camaro especially on long trips from Tampa to WVa...the huge tranny hump in the back seat...anyway the 85 Celebrity wagon was a nice riding car..my dad made many trips with it from Tampa to WV in the course of a few years...later in life I bought a 1986 Celebrity in 1995...with only 75K miles...loved it actually..about the same color as the one in the video..
I owned a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity Coupe, it was still in my grandad yard for 9 months and it have never gave me any problem, I love the car its awsome to drive plus its comfortable
Thanks Natalia! I'm working on making sure I post vids regularly. Just slow this time of year unless I show all kind of snow removal, lol. That wagon sounds like a great buy. I've had to do a couple minor repairs on mine. Just stuff like thermostat and such. Understand that it's likely the shocks may be fairly bouncy so be aware of that while driving. ^_^
these posts were made in 2014.. do u still have the car today?? these are nice looking cars I like, mainly because the dash cluster is unique looking! plus front end of the headlight bezels around the sealed beam bulbs.. also tail lights are cool looking! 1986 they TOTALLY changed it! like the 85 design better because the car has a classic look to it! went to the junkyard today & they had a super clean one with the junk cars! car has NO RUST!! inside is like new!! miles on it say.. 53,XXX I believe its low cause I think on old man owned it... a shame to see this car in there! someone bought the 4 wheels.. I'll take pics of the car next week & put them with the photos of the other 85 celebrity on the net...
Still going strong. A few rusty spots on the doors and such. Treated and bondo'd. 88,681 m on the odometer now. Need to replace exhaust pipe, rotors, drums, shoes, shocks, front tires. The Iron Duke 2.5 is pretty boggy on the highway at 75mph, gotta figure out why. I'll probably be posting an update on it pretty soon.
+ChunkTVLive that's all the car has on it?! 88,861.. low miles! I noticed it has rust spots around the doors.. still a good looking car for its age.. inside looks clean as your doing the video! u buy this car in MA from the people? I see the paperwork saying MA on it... then I see on your plates when u were driving behind your car it has MAINE plates on it... from what I know, winters are bad up in MA & MAINE with the salt rocks & cars start to rust.. :/ which sucks.. good to see that the car is still around !! does your car still have the original sealed beam headlights on it? I bet the high beams are original as no one uses them up.. forgot to add, the 85 celebrity has all ORIGINAL headlights straight from the factory except the low beam.. I KNOW original bulbs when it comes to classics! :) pulled the original low beam off today for my 83 Buick Electra 4 Dr.. it uses the same ones! that's what I look for in the junkyards, just gotta get lucky! keep up the good work fixing that 85 celebrity!! how does these celebrity's ride? never drove one.. must be comfy.. later..
+cadiman12 Yeah, the winters / salt are death to cars up here. Especially if you don't have a garage to keep 'em in. This has a comfortable ride, getting pretty scary to say the least though. It's a bit springy, and also when making tight corners at speed it'll kinda do the twist on the struts. Still has the original headlamps, though I think someone shot my right high beam with a bb, still works though... Heck, I'm fairly certain it's still got the original windscreen. Headliner is finally starting to sag a bit but the rest of the interior is immaculate. Fuel gauge recently quit on me. Got it only a couple towns away from where I live in Maine. Bought it from an old lady who inherited it from her mother-in-law, the original owner from Massachusetts. It spent most of its early life going to the grocery store / church and back at only 55mph or less. First owner put 14k miles, second put the other 61k on it. It'll take me a bit to make sure I can keep it on the road, but it's still my daily driver right now.
That is the first Celebrity I have seen with out Factory A/C was this Orin ally a Canadian car. Not very many were ordered this way. Not even the Government Services Administration (GSA) did not order these with out A/C My dad and I would go the GSA auctions in the early 90's and the GSA would sell these for 500.00 to 1200.00 per car and the mileage was actual some had anywhere between 25K and 65K miles on them and the GSA would sell them off to the public. By the Mid to late 90's we quit going to the GSA sales because word got out and the dealers would go there and raise the bids so high that it defeated the purpose of even going.
Well, I figure I should comment to update here. I finally had to let her go. Sold her to someone who was about my age, he was thinking about parting it out. When he looked at it he totally changed his mind and is now parting his out to rebuild mine. She sold for $400 and I'm sure this guy is going to enjoy it.
I own a 1982 Celebrity with the 2.8l LE2 V6 and the 3 speed auto and she's got low miles but wasn't taken care if until i got it. I did get the car for free from my grandfather and had put roughly 1k into it. To clear up long needed problems. Such as terrible oil leaks, awful radiator gunk ups. Carburetor problems, all sorts of other things but she's pretty clean for the most part. Only real problem is the visual apearence being quite ugly

Thinking of buying a 87 wagon. $500 and drive it home, why not. Looking forward to see more of what you put out there.

Yeah, it was manufactured in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

Lol, One of the cars that "drove" buyers to the foreign makes.
