That's best sounding inline six I've heard so far. I didn't think an inline 6 could sound as good as a v8. I have an 86 f150 with the six, but I don't know if I want to spend the money to get that sound. Even if I did, I'd like quality of the rumble, just a little more subdued.
@@tannerblankenbeckler6154 that doesn't make any sense. An inline 6 is not pretty much a V8 at all. A V8 block isn't similar to a inline block in any way. You can use 390 pistons but that's about it
I literally have the identical truck. Other then I’m keeping mine stick until I finish my 97 F350 fummins build. 94 scsb with the 300 and 5 speed same colour and everything. Wanna build it up when I have another daily. It’s awesome to see the factory engine I got in my truck sound good without having to swap for the v8. The 300 in my truck is gutless asf but it’s reliable and I’ve bagged the shit out of it. Sweet build man. I know I’m late to the video but I’m saving the video so I can hopefully make mine sound and look similar without having to v8 swap. Was thinking about a 460 swap but seems like a lot of work. The ford 300 is a legendary engine for being bulletproof and long lived but I never understood why people put major money into juicing it up when the same money could be put into a junk yard small block v8 for way more torque and horsepower. But hey it does sound cool.
The 6s are meant to pull. Compared with a sbf, my stock 6 chews up the pulling possibilities at low rpms, runs cooler, and maintains rpms up hills better than a stock 302 or 351. 302 is quickest.
U have the exact same cam, if urs doesn’t sounds like the vid, bump ur timing up to around 15° (put advance on a ported nipple) fatten up ur idle mixture, drop them rpm’s down low and let it chop away
Sam Bounds , well I ended up blowing the head, idk if it was because of the extra stress on the motor or what... but the truck ran fine for months before that happened... getting the timing right was a bitch but I got it there with some adjustments.
Dawson Bilbrey, I was deployed when all these comments went up, that back bumper is a piece of pipe I found in the yard, welded two caps on it and welded a Reese towing package to that, also cut off the bumper mounts and welded those to the pipe lol it's a little custom
Robert Stephens to delete the get valve and the smog pump you essentially cut the pipes that screw into the head and then unscrew them, then find the same size bolt and thread it into the holes. You have to make a plate to go over the opening where the her valve goes into the intake aswell. There is a write up on f150forum.com that I followed. As far as the can goes I literally just played with the timing until it ran the best, it was a pain in the ass getting it there but once on point it was an animal.
Sounds like a 268-H cam. My son built a 300 and used that cam. I remember the specs at 219 @ .050 and lift in the .420 to .450 range. Very good cam. Good mid range power. His truck did not seem to give up any low rpm torque at all
Logan Anderson nope some old cars have them because of emission standards. Most people delete them because of the horrible carbon build up in the intake and on piston that it causes.
300 inline 6 make almost the same amount of torque as a 302 , they are torque motors , they just make less horse power which a few mods can make you have more horse power then a 302

inline 6 are better if you can make it a high rev one it could sound like a v12 but in half lol
The 4.9 inline 6 is pretty much a v8 cuz there's a 4.9l v8 both the same block just missing 2 cylinders

theyll wake up quick with a few performance mods and make over 300 ft-lb and more the 250 hp i bet. these 300s have a good bit of low end torque too

But if your looking for good gas milage I would keep it on because they were basically hardwired with them, but most don't care for milage that much.
