Because it would ruin how people see are family and they would think are family was weird and wouldn’t want to hangout with us because of all my brain problems.

Amber and Eric!!! Thank you for bringing this up to the public!!! The mental health issue is something we can't ignore.
I am 100% agree with you, if you have something dark is going on in your mind, or you feel so heavy about your life, don't know what to with it, please see a therapist or psychiatrist. Or if you don't want to see them, you can talk to your family or your friends.
I understand that your family or your friends might say "aww don't think much about it", or "JUST go to see a therapist", or the worst, " just take anti-depressant". IF YOU HAVE YOUR FAMILY OR FRIEND in that situation, never said that to them, it will discourage her more to seek help.
Be a shoulder to lean on, ear to listen to their deep thoughts, and once they are done sharing their secrets that I believe soo hard to come out from their mouth, please offer proper help. I believe that seeing therapists crossing on their minds, but they might be feeling uneasy about, afraid about it, need some courage about it.
So the thing you can do is Ask. ASK if it's okay to go to a therapist TOGETHER? Offer your existence while the therapists are helping your family or friend in their room.
Knowing that someone close to them is waiting outside, truly care for their health, will encourage her. It will make them feel "oh there are certain people that actually want me alive and moving on even though it's hard now, at least I'm not alone".
Feeling alone against this cruel world is the worst thing you might ever feel. The impact is terrifying as how much hopeless, powerless, unworthy of anything, you thought you might be when YOU ARE NOT.
So please fam, be there for the ones that you loved. ❤
And be kind to one another. This is the one that we can easily forget. We can easily hurt someone's feelings without any intentions. We joke about almost everything now and in my opinion, that's not a good idea to do as some people might take things seriously on everything they heard or read and some don't. So please be careful about what you say and write as well.
    ❤❤❤❤❤

I’ll always love Amber. She’s such an amazing person. I feel so emotional seeing her going through so much just like the rest of f(x) have been with sulli’s passing :( I hope she’s at peace.
When I was 11 I fell in love with f(x). Sulli’s beauty stunned me, I’d never seen someone so beautiful. Her heart was just as beautiful. I’m 20 now and many things have happened, both good and bad, and this last year the most heart wrenching and unbelievable thing that could’ve ever happened did.
I still think of Sulli daily since her passing and my heart aches every time. More than ever I find myself wishing I could go back in time. I’m only a fan, I can’t imagine what Amber is going through.
Amber; you’re so strong. You’ve always been a beacon of light. You’re resilient, down to earth, and gentle. You only want to spread love, and in a world as cruel as this, that’s all we can do. Thank you for speaking up about this. We love you 💛💛💛

I had those kind of thoughts that if someone beautiful and talented could still be unhappy and take their own life then why should I even continue to live but then watching Amber and listening to her brought me out of that dark place and made me realize that I need help.

I'm soon to finish my studies in clinical and neuropsychology and honestly, as someone who soon will be working in a profession related to mental health, this is such an important message. There is no reason to suffer alone if you can get help. The stigma that goes with getting mental health help is sad and quite honestly: ridiculous. We should be proud and encourage people who want to get better by reaching for that help, not make fun of them.

There was this one podcast I heard, with a therapist as a guest.
He was talking about the kind of patients he gets and more.
There was this one point where he mentioned how he has his own therapist and goes to therapy monthly. I was surprised to hear that because I didn't ever imagine a therapist having his own therapist. When they asked him how did that come to happen he said that just like how we have routine check ups for our physical health, he tries to have the same ones for his mental health.
He said how it's important to look after both your physical and mental health and emphasised that if we try to divide our health in those two categories properly, not just physical but also mental, it would be easier to destigmatize it in a better way.
Mental health is just as important as physical health and there is nothing wrong with having routine checkups for both.
I once had a horrible experience with one therapist, who didn't listen to my problems properly and due to that, I started avoiding it.
But thanks to this podcast, everything was instantly cleared.
"It has always been as simple as that!"
That thought instantly flooded my brain. I couldn't believe how I couldn't see it before.
Well, I also know that therapists have to take in a lot when they hear others problems and counsel them. I know that it could take a toll on their health as well and hence they need to stay healthy too. So that is also a big reason for this particular therapist to go for therapy.
But that doesn't change the fact how simple mental health has always been.
Think of it as a physical routine check up and get myself checked - that's all it is. I hope I can find the courage to reach out for help and I hope the one who helps me doesn't disappoint me.
Amber, more power to you for talking about importance of mental health. It means a lot to many people like me, who cannot seem to do much about the demons inside and cannot seem to go for therapy. Hope you keep going girl! Fighting!

First of all, thank you to Eric for bringing this up in a respectful manner and even talking abt it at all. I feel like Korea avoids their names bc it's "taboo" and it absolutely should not be. And thank you to Amber for taking the courage to talk abt it. I don't think that can be understated. She is one of the most affected people from all three of the recent tragedies and I'm so glad she's been seeing a therapist and getting the help she needs.
I agree with Amber but I wish that there was more put in place systematically in korea to change the stigma of mental health and mental illness and make it easier for ppl to get help. Numerous surveys have shown that many ppl living in korea are afraid to see a therapist bc of other ppl judging them and bc it will go on their medical record. I think there are steps to this issue and asking ppl to be less judgemental is one. The next is to reduce and eliminate the stigma around mental illness and seeing a therapist, educating ppl that having a mental illness doesn't make you "crazy," but the equivalent of seeing a doctor when you have a physical illness. The next is to make therapy accessible to everyone. And along the way, making sure that the therapists and psychologists are properly trained. I will never forget how Jonghyun's "doctor" told him his depression was his fault bc of his personality. All of these steps need to be implemented for real change to occur. I want to be optimistic like Eric and hope that these will happen but unless someone or some organizations step up to actively push these through, we will continue to see these tragedies.

This is very important and I want to spread it around. Thanks for talking about it, Eric and Amber.
We can’t avoid it or cover it or hide it or bury it. People try to pretend this isn’t happening in this industry or in that community or in whatever aspect of life one is a part of, because sadness and anger and pain are ugly emotions. When you ask how someone’s doing, people - at least in America - often don’t want to hear about your suffering, they expect an “I’m fine.” So we hide our own ugly emotions. It’s that, but worse for those in the public eye, expected to be ok all the time. Sometimes, things are not ok. And it’s ok... to not be ok all the time, and it should be more accepted, I think, so long as those emotions are being expressed in a safe manner (that is, not doing harm to others). It’s ok - and should be deeply encouraged - to find someone professional to speak to when things aren’t going well. It’s not a shame thing, it’s a GOOD thing. Every person’s mind could use a little backup, I think.

Everything said here is sooo relatable and talking to friends and family does really help. Going through the same again after 3 again and it made me realise that i really need to speak up with my family and friends and try not to get anxious again. Was a great great interview...

I love how she is not afraid to show her vulnerable side unlike other idols and how she'd addressing mental health which is very important specially to idols because they receive hate constantly. I'm so glad that Amber is handling these situations properly and I hope many people -not just idols, would also try to talk to someone abt there problems and conquer these problems. I also hope that people would stop judging others and saying mean things to others bcs good lord just let people live their lives and mind ur own business.

Yes, this is very much needed right now. With what is going on with the world right now, opening up dialogues like this will slowly but surely come a long way to change public perception of what was once perceived as a taboo subject. It was covered with great sensitivity, a lot of wisdom and with great care not to offend those who may not believe in this. Times are changing. We can't hold onto old beliefs anymore. What's important is that it's relevant now and people need to hear this. Great topic!

Thank you Amber, for saying things even when it's hard. Having lost a few friends and family members, I can relate, but especially relate to how hard it is to speak. I couldn't talk about it, and I'm not a public figure. It must be even harder in your position. Thank you - because the close minded people do need to hear.
