Love looking at the video and remembering many years ago all the times my jeep with chains on all the wheels got stuck when I lived on the Mt.Rose Hwy at the base of the Sierras south of Reno. Note- Watching the video from my home now in Costa Rica 🌴😎🌴
Beauty in appearance, horror in real life. Being stuck in a blizzard is imminent death within hours, if you cannot find a heat source. Not something you want to to be exploring alone without backup, or at night. Best watched on TH-cam. :)
Less than that, really. This storm is bringing gusts over 120MPH in some spots. Windchills at that level are low enough to give you frostbite in a few minutes. It stakes a special kind of person to work for CalTrans or CHP on a normal day, much less along I-80 during winter storms like this. You know it's bad when even snow plows need chains, and It's very easy to see how the Donner Party ended up stranded here.
Kinda like driving in the oilfields of n Dakota on the nite shift, but with lotsa snow. Nothing like doing 3 rail chains on all the axles to get your heart pumping. It's so cold, you just brush the snow off, and on the road again. Btw, gre up skiing squaw kt22
I've never done that before!! Lol. I can blame my dear Dad, for getting me started doing that, before I had a drivers license in Michigan!! Good practice for winter driving, with any vehicle, as it may save your behind one day. I encourage all new drivers to find an open parking lot and go play, so they won't panick when things start to get slippery. And oh, I've never tried it with an 18 wheeler either!! Peace out.
Welcome to Nevada and Placer Counties, CA, where this footage comes from! Former Nevada/Placer County resident (Nevada City and Auburn, CA) checking in and watching the weather from Twin Falls, Idaho, where we are currently getting the snow and wind from this event at 2:20 pm, Sunday, March 3rd. Would NOT want to be anywhere on Hwy. 80 right now, but then I know better than to be out in this kind of weather (35 years there did the trick!) Stay safe all!!
It's kind like a canadian blizzard ~ The ppl in the North of California it's going to have a wonderful late winter season until Spring kicks in - Stay safe!!!!!!
Highway 395 in Oregon was having 75mph wind gusts on 2/29/24 while today was white out blizzards at times. Drivers need to slow down because under all the snow is ice.
This is NOT DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE folks . . . this happens quite often in the Sierras getting this much snow . . . I've seen pictures of snow so deep in the Sierras that the snow dept is almost up to where the chair lifts travel in spots . . .
I don't get why they're stopped, all the pictures of the cars and trucks on the highway, the roads are drivable but everyone is sitting? Are there sections that are drifted over?
Our driver's don't show up on work if it just rain little bit . Your guys are working in very severe conditions . My name is Yankee from ORANGE COUNTY , CALIFORNIA
Smart Governors and smart government highway officials order all vehicle traffic off the roads when they have excessive snow falls. That way the plow drivers can far more effectively do their jobs and it avoids unnecessary vehicle accidents, injuries and vehicle damage repairs. That smarter and safer approach also avoids having disabled vehicles on the roads and the need for tow trucks blocking the roads which can prevent snow plow drives from doing their jobs.
Yet the other states with snowfall get out and do their jobs to get traffic moving every winter ... There is a difference between doing your job and avoiding it ....
imagine all that equipment removing snow being powered by just batteries!! good luck with that!!! the batts would die in less than 2 hours if that
With all the wind they could install wind turbines on the roof and be just fine ...
😅
No. The winds and/or weight of the snow could knock them over.
@@DavidVanHelden1Lol. Maybe the self righteousness would power them.
Exactly.

I love nature. This is incredibly beautiful. The employees of the road are heroes too!

They are not heroes they are getting paid for a job
What heroes, they're just plowing snow. This is not a blizzard, it's just blowing snow. Come to Canada and see what we deal with you wussies.

I can always count on this channel for the best weather footage. Hope everyone stays safe and the drivers from those trucks were okay.
Thank you!
Wow, looks like Norway! Great shots, thanks!

Three day nlizzard even looks scary from North Dakota! Be safe folks!
Funny coming from ND!
Not if you live in this region, nothing funny about it. One day your jokes will not be funny.

Awesome, I love this type of weather. And the guy doing doughnuts @ around 5:25, just made my day 😅.

nice day for a little ski hike .. maybe he was low on chips & beer ??
Can’t imagine sitting for hours on a highway not moving in a snow storm. Best to stay safe somewhere and wait it out.
Beautiful storm! ❄❄
Thanks for the great coverage. I have been in conditions like that a lot, but that wind looks especially intense.
Thanks Geoff!
Bless these people for working in this mess, stay safe
Either Sacramento. Or go over Tehachapi . !
Wowee.. great footage, thank you. Saw the Donner Lake sign is North Lake Tahoe, Hwy 80.
Thank you!
Actually, Interstate 80.
It's kind like a canadian blizzard ~ The ppl in the North of California it's going to have a wonderful late winter season until Spring kicks in - Stay safe!!!!!!
It's been a below normal snow year, so this brings us just to average.
This must have been filmed before 2013. Al Gore said there would be no more snow after 2013.
Great Job again !

I'm amazed that birds can survive this ! They must be buried in snow tunnels ! ? Wind chill factor has to be brutal.
Just some high winds, bad visibility, and some good snowfall. It’ll all be fine and beautiful by noon Monday😎.
Great channel. Be careful out there.
Thank you, I will!
Good Luck. Stay safe.
stay safe out there you guys are getting the snow that Buffalo usually gets again stay safe everyone
Thats a cool snow machine. The cab goes up a few feet. Pretty cool
Those guys are hero’s, that storm is brutal.

Wow! That's crazy. Be safe out there.
looks cold. we didn’t get any nasty blizzards up in maine this year.
Very Impressive, earns a subscription
Thank you!
where are the teslas?
Donner pass. They generally get a lot of snow there.
I don't care what those people have to do...WHY did they go out in this???
People really love downhill skiing during the week.
Reno just 5 hrs away from Vages I'm surprised we're not getting more worse weather here in Laughlin Nevada
Whoa Nellie ,so very bad and creepy 😮😢
Wow. Hope everyone is safe.
This is crazy. I didn’t realize how powerful this storm is. I thought the storm a few weeks ago was worst. We had a lot of fallen trees in the bay.
Wow. It looks more like Siberia than Cali 😮

It’s all for a good cause! This snow will fill the pools in Hollywieird come May!
Ok Brandon, you or Johnathan one gonna have to answer them there wheelie challenges😂
And they call us Canadians the great white north, Toronto has had 2 mini storms so far this winter
Man, I sure hope that truck driver is okay.
I love it! Dude out doing donuts!
This is pretty common for the sierra nevadas and Tahoe. It’s called WINTER.
These so called Professional Drivers who don’t put Chains in these weather conditions on are the worst Hazard on the road.
In Minnesota parlance, this is referred to as a "nut freezer".
Radicle dude!
Where were all the people in cars needing to get to they are driving in this?
1:46 Castle Peak exit at Boreal?
Whoa 😳
Gotta love this global warming
Ive been backcountry skiing in a storm like this.
One hellofa snowstorm!! 😵💫😱😳
What city is this
This is called woods. It is what is outside the cities.
What part of California is this?
The less stupid part. Far away from the big Woke cities.
OMGNESS 😮
Is the trucker OK?
He is fine ...just lost his turban is all ...

I-80 West of Reno, NV. Donner Pass
My Lord! Terrible storm.

Can you say Tahiti?
@1:55 "hey! looks like a fine time to go cross country skiing"!
I wonder how many of the snowplows were EV's.......
Haha. My sister got up, got dressed, saw all the cars, went back in and called off from work. Why go nowhere? South of this but still immobilized.
I understand the Donner party after watching this.
Look at the Good side......The reservoirs will be full this summer !!!!

How far east is that coming? Texas can really use it. I'd rather not in Ohio.
Sure the snow clearing trains are atop your list this trip as well
I just couldn't believe what the weather man said. Yikes!😂
Don't believe it. We aren't getting anywhere near 2 feet of snow let alone 5-10 feet. The storm fizzled out.
@bullettethebulldiva4875 it's Friday morning. There's still all of today and all of tomorrow...
Lovely footage, but not my idea of fun! Thanks!
So what exactly is the issue here? This seems like a normal snow storm anywhere in the world! Simple and easy to get through with a little know how!
Pray for safety of every one.
This is a bad storm!😢
This could be my house every winter in Upstate New York when I still lived there.
