Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and former Vice President Mike Pence discuss his current run for the 2024 presidency, the U.S. Government's overreach in economic matters when it should be playing referee, the indoctrination and sexualization of our youngest citizens, the realistic way forward on the Russia Ukraine front, and how we might finally stabilize a nation wrought with cultural warfare.
Mike Pence, an American politician and native Hoosier, served as the 48th vice president of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He previously served as the 50th governor of Indiana from 2013 to 2017, and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013. Before this he practiced private law, led the Indiana Policy Review Foundation, and hosted “The Mike Pence Show,” a syndicated talk radio show that also aired as a public affairs program on TV once a week. He only recently announced his candidacy for President of the United States, and is currently on the campaign trail.
Dr. Peterson's extensive catalog is available now on DailyWire+: bit.ly/3KrWbS8

When someone spends this much time trying to convince you that they are smart by quoting others and fluffing their feathers, something is definitely up. I found RFK Jr. very humble and genuine. Highly intelligent without rubbing your face in it. I trust him. Even if I don’t 100% agree with him on everything, I trust that he would tread lightly and not mess things up too terribly.

What, specifically, makes Mike a traitor? Because he wouldn't refuse to certify the votes? You understand that even if he refused to certify, it wouldn't matter right? Biden would still be President. You guys are not only asking him to do something that is redundant but you're asking him to do it when there was no concrete evidence of election fraud, at least at the time. Your comment is a great indicator that you're not thinking rationally about the situation but emotionally, just like the far-left does. It's disappointing. Do I think the Democrats cheated? I don't know. I have no concrete evidence. But I certainly wouldn't put it pass them. I supported Trump. I am also a true conservative. Though, I do not think Trump is the best example of conservative and Christian values, especially the latter. And I think those of you on the extreme side when it comes to supportingTrump need to give Mike a break.

"Why are you talking to me on this podcast as part of your campaign?" answered with "I decided to run for President because...". Not exactly a 'gotcha' question, just an opportunity to demonstrate a tiny bit of authentic engagement with his current interlocutor. He failed. I love how characteristic this is of Pence. In a truly intellectual interview like the one Dr. Peterson did with Josh Hawley, both parties tend speak about evenly - whether it be in debate or simply bouncing ideas off each other. Here, Pence basically took the floor and grandstanded about military interventionism and fanning the flames of a war we don't belong in, and gave various long winded anecdotes that seemed to go nowhere and only addressed the question at the very end. He spent some 80% of his time on Russia, when its clear the populist (and majority) wing of the Republican Party (that he helped create no doubt), don't want to be fighting Russia and at the very least want the conflict to resolve peacefully and immediately. Pence seemed like he had his talking points pre-sketched out by Lindsey Graham who called the Ukraine money-laundering war profiteering "the best money we've ever spent". As a ride or die Trump voter, I'm glad to see Pence relegating himself to the ash heap of politics with this presidential run.

I want to summarize this important point. Peterson asked essentially: what do you say to the notion that a weakened Russia is a dangerous one? Pence’s response was essentially: We clarify that our intention is to repel the Ukrainian invasion, and not take Russian land.
I think that’s a very good response: to decouple the notion of our having a strong response, from the idea of backing Russia into a corner. The two don’t have to be stuck together like that: we simply articulate our policy clearly enough to distinguish between enforcing boundaries, and degrading the one who would transgress those boundaries.

As a lifelong conservative, I desperately want someone I can vote for who is genuine and has integrity. Someone who doesn't behave like a politician all the time. Being a many years fan of Jordan, I was hopeful. So Jordan, in his very first question asks, why did you agree to come on my podcast. Mr Pence completely ignores that question and goes immediately into robotic, automated politician mode, answering not the question that was asked but answering instead, why he decided to run for president. And in so doing, pulled out many of the old political tricks: my family, prayer, United States gone down the rabbit hole, quoting the Bible, etc, etc. Instead of answering the question put to him, which would have been the intelligent thing to do; he answered the question he wanted to answer: the question he felt would be most politically advantageous to come right out of the gate with. You lost my vote right there Mr Pence. Your administration would simply be more of the usual and I, along with millions of Americans are wholly uninterested in self-serving politics as usual. Trump is wrong. Mike Pence did not have the authority to reject or send back electoral college votes. The Constitution very clearly states that "The President of the Senate (the Vice President) shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted." It says the Votes SHALL then be counted. Trump and his crackpot lawyers lied when they said Mike Pence could reject votes.

I'm not sure Trump would agree to that, unless he could see and approve the questions beforehand. Peterson is, after all, a psychologist. I'd like to hear Peterson address some of the questions around whether Trump is a malignant narcissist. Maybe ask Trump about some of the things he's said about himself over the years. Things that he has done. If Trump would allow for it, it would be a great "insider" look at the dynamics of Donald Trump. IF Jordan wouldn't let Trump get away with the over the top hyperbole and that sort of thing. That would be something, if Jordan could pin Trump down and let us see it. But that's one reason why I don't think Trump would agree to it.
