I paid 7000$ for my 08 no accident and one owner with 100k. I will have to do the 100k service like Plugs filter and valve adjustment and she is mint. Has new clutch as well!
Owned my 08'SI for 5 years now its an amazing daily driver. Bought it with 11k km's now has 150k kms. It still runs the exact same way the day I bought it! Good ol' Honda quality. If anyone is getting this car I highly recommend it. Also mod wise the HFP suspension and better tires is well worth it.
+MonopolyMan M Is there any known problems with the Civics from 07-09? I read somewhere that the engines on them crack and Honda has given people warranties because of it. How reliable is the speedometer? It looks like it would be hard to get used to it since it's digital and all that lol
+Grim never had or seen any of those issues. search the 8th gen civic forums. only known problem is the 2ND/3rd gear grind when shifting. changing ur trans fluid to synthetic helps
***** Ah, alright. I will keep this car in mind when I get the chance to get one. I was also worried about Civics being #1 in stolen cars too but I think a manual transmission keeps most of them away in the U.S. lol
+Grim yeah insurance can be high. haven't really seen too many members get them stolen. I mean they are fairly cheap and I'd rather steal a BMW or Mercedes lol.
***** lol yeah, I might have to get a insurance quote before I decide. I live in a fairly good area so I'm not too worried about it since my neighbors have pretty nice cars so they should be more tempting
Loyal Honda fanatic for life! And without bias, I will tell you that the Si is THE single best "value sports car" you can get your hands on. Thanks for showing!
I don't know why, but I love watching people shift gears and hearing the engine rev. That is truly incredible because not everyone does a great job at showing the shifting being done so well as you did. Truly great video, I love Honda Civic Si. The reason why I'm here is because it might be my next car of choice. Based off what I just seen, I'm sold, but time will tell. Thank you for creating my now favorite video of an Si.
+Alex Cuellar brings in a lot more money now in 2015 I am pretty sure Saab Kyle quit his full time job if this makes you like 5000$ a month this more than enough to live very fairly well hell most people don't even make 3000$ a month
@virusghost101 I just bought a 2011 Si coupe a few months ago. Basically the only differences are the fog lights on the front end, as well as a honeycomb style grille, and different wheels (still 17 inches). The 11 also has a USB hookup for your iPod and I believe some of the color schemes may have changed.
This was a great tour of the car, Kyle. These cars are awesome. One of my friends had one of these for a few months before he had to get a 4WD for work. I have some videos of it on my channel. He had a Skunk 2 exhaust and Weapon R intake on it and it would SCREAM! He could grab 4th in it, which I thought was quite insane. lol I miss that car!
@smo1231 absolutely! i just bought an 07 si coupe for this exact same reason.. I wanted something that was powerful (within reason of course)/reliable and fuel efficient.. i was torn between the GTI and the SI, and decided to go with the SI so I wouldn't have to replace a turbo at some point. From my experience over the last 3 weeks, I can guarantee you that you'd be satisfied if you bought a civic.. it's really a great car to own
We have both cars in the family. I would personally recomend the si if it's your first car. The s2000 is a much stiffer ride and the blind spots are pretty bad when the top is up. However, If you don't mind some rattle and a harsh ride go with the s2k :) it's so much fun.
The WRX might sound like the obvious choice, but it takes a lot of work to do anything with those flat-4's (as in they're harder to work on than a standard inline 4). The Mazdaspeed3 is similar to a hatchback WRX, only not AWD and less powerful. Both the GTI and Genesis coup are great competitors, but the Genesis can be easy to mod, and is rear wheel drive. So in my opinion, NONE of those cars beat the SI, but the Genesis comes close to a second choice.
@masterfongv2: He has it in neutral for most of the video, so the engine can run without transferring energy to the wheels or stalling. He has the parking brake on, so the car won't roll.
There's a 2007 civic si about 9 miles from me for $7400 with 157K miles. I only had about $2300 then (about 3 weeks ago) and I was gonna finance it but decided I should wait and save up till the car market calms down and maybe I can get myself a 9th gen instead of an 8th gen lol. A 8th gen still sounds amazing tho, I would love to have one.
I seriously feel like owing your first Honda, whether it's a manual or not and even if you don't intend to mod it is the American dream! Like if you feel the same!! And yes, I do know that Honda's are Japanese made vehicles.
Haha yes after having previous 3 civics I saw I just had enough to pick up the 2014 si model. The car is beautiful and really is an eye-turner on the streets. It has an aftermarket exhaust and cool air intake right now but that's pretty basic, the car is good enough as it is stock!
I feel the same when I owned a '01 Accord 5-speed. Wrecked it but still talk about it to this day. Its okay. Family has a '07 CR-V. Love the K24 in that thing.
You have to be faster on the clutch when shifting in those high RPM's. You didn't let off fast enough, and you were still on the gas when you shifted, so your RPM's went up in the middle of the shift which means you were burning your clutch a little.
Hey saabkyle04 you have a really nice collection of Honda/Acura vids. Keep them comin maybe u can do a Honda pilot new and old. When you get time of course. :)
In my opinion(and many others), this eighth gen civic si looks much better than the new one. It has a more sporty look as opposed to the somewhat grandma looking 9th generation. Obv the engine got a power boost from 197hp 2.0 to 201hp 2.4 with much more torque but some criticism from honda owners cause it redlines at 7k instead of 8k. And obviously the subtle things like the vtec indicator as well as a new screen by the speedometer they call the I-mid system. Gas mileage also a little boost...:)
@BlueBalls3690 an inline engine is one the has the cylinders/cams lined up with the body of the car (going from front to back). BMWs, audis, and the S2k all follow this set up. The valves in the k20 are perpendicular to the body of the car (going from left to right). I may just not be completely informed as to what an inline engine is.. and if that's the case then explain it to me.. but I thought it meant that the engine was turned in the engine bay so the longer side goes from front to back
if possible, could you do a video of a Mugen Civic? that would be cool, and pretty please do a GTI video, of the mk4 models, especially the R32 if you can find it...thanks or well any GTI other than the 2010
Nice video! What camera did you use? I'm looking for a new camera that can pick up good audio/bass to get some clips of my car, judging by this video your cam performs pretty well for what I need!
Whoever's driving's gotta shift faster, especially your 1-2, 2-3 shifts at higher revs. you're letting the clutch slip every time you hear the revs going down before the next gear picks up.
@colinknight13 I'm thinking the exact same thing. I'm not too crazy about the 02-05 civic si. The only thing I'm concerned about is the position of the shift nob. It seems to be a little far out to the right. I don't know I'll have to test drive one to see for myself
you sir did a great job with this video. you have one steady camera hand. this makes me wish i had bought the 4 door instead of the 2 door coupe. :D GREAT JOB!!!
Can you explain that a little bit? I have a 2011 Si. Mine hangs sometimes but not always. If it does its only for a second and i wasn't really trying. But if im focused it shifts perfect.
My mom has a black FG2 and my only complaint is the visors inside are broken on both sides, (we got them up, which was hard, and are leaving them like that forever) and the Si badge on the back is now silver because the paint came off, I think it may have melted.. it started bubbling? Love the car though. Paint on ours is fantastic other than where idiots hit the doors with their doors.
Hurley Lee, your Camry I'm guessing is Automatic? Si's only come Manual. Automatic shifts for you. Manual doesnt. Maybe that's why. Cause letting off the gas in a manual slows it down a bit. Camry still a great car though.
I'm debating on trading my 08 Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5 for a Honda Civic Si because gas is ridiculous. Would you guys recommend the Si as a decent replacement for the Altima?
@LordKevin92 the material that when u put ur hand on it turn dark and when u wipe it it goes back to normal its used in the reventon, gallardo, quatttoporte, AUdi s4 recaro seats its like a suede interior but 10x better and it hold u in place

You also forgot about the notorious 3rd gear grind on the 06-08 models but its easy fix, just adjust the clutch pushrod under the clutch. the clunky 2nd and 3rd gear for me is fixed by changing my tranny fluid to amsoil synchromesh, its still there from time to time but it sure fixed mine lol. Anyways great and fun cars.
thanks for the video, im looking at buying a new car for the next couple years. spmething good on gas but not too grannyish :P i think so far what ive seen civic is the way to go.
@leanlifter Can't run subs off a stock deck bro. They generally don't have RCA ports in back. The power from stock can barely power the Alpine 6x9's I throw in, let alone 2 12" Orion HCCA's.
@colinknight13 I own a 2010 Ford Focus ST 2.5 turbo.. It's a good car, good technic, nice engine growl, nice seats, many good tuning upgrades etc.. Even it has more hps than the SI, every time i see one SI i regret not getting one when i could.. I think is one of the best ever cars.. So simple design, always good looking, and that engine is a delight; 2.0L 197hp atmospheric!! Rev it like a bike and you'll get enough fun, it's like a rubber band.. Don't think it twice.. Very good for a first car.
@saabkyle04 A little mistake... A few day ago I commented that I never saw this version of the Civic in Mexico, but I checked the used car classifieds, and Honda did sell the SI version back in 2007... I was wondering: I see that the radio has an AUX button but it doesn't seem to actually have an aux input, does it?
Definitely one of the best looking FWD cars ever made.
Gonna love your honda

Agreed still looks decent in 2023
that is my favorite body style of the Honda Civic Si ever!! so saving up for one!
You can get them for fairly cheap now :D
Awesome!! If I ever buy a Honda Civic, it will be the SI Sedan 2007 to 2011 and 2013 to current.
I paid 7000$ for my 08 no accident and one owner with 100k.
I will have to do the 100k service like
Plugs filter and valve adjustment and she is mint.
Has new clutch as well!
Nice and Awesome!! the last one I was looking was with 90,000 and $16,000.00 price tag.
King Kangaroo --> I'm curious why you omitted 2012 from your range? Is there something bad or off about that model year?
Owned my 08'SI for 5 years now its an amazing daily driver. Bought it with 11k km's now has 150k kms. It still runs the exact same way the day I bought it! Good ol' Honda quality. You have the best job in the world

you wont go wrong with either, but i love the inside of the si. very comfortable along with stylish

Love the car, really love the color, really dont care for rear door decals, but guess I`m getting old ,lol. Your videos are terrific, thanks a bunch.

love this car, great review kyle!!
Again who's Kyle??
Great video as always! I really like those Si sedans!
This is so clean. wonder where it is now
I don't understand why people waste their money replacing the stock exhaust on this car. It already sounds amazing from the factory.
My V4 Camry was a fender in front of a si civic when we were racing. I was pretty sure I would lose but I didn’t.
Hurley Lee, your Camry I'm guessing is Automatic? Si's only come Manual. Automatic shifts for you. Manual doesnt. Maybe that's why. Cause letting off the gas in a manual slows it down a bit. Camry still a great car though.

His old reviews he said that, he didn't have his standard review format yet :p
These are awesome little cars. Quick, great handling, nice looking, and they're pretty comfortable as a DD.
If you're looking to buy one, watch out for:
-Clunky gear changes into 2nd and 3rd - 06-08 cars are known to have weak synchronizers
-Suspension noises over bumps, particularly from the front end - This isn't a big deal but can be annoying
-Cloudy paint on the hood, trunk, roof, or tops of the fenders - Avoid this like the plague! The only fix is repainting those areas
Other than that, you can't go wrong with an 8th gen Civic Si! My 2008 is at 95k and has treated me very well ❤

well, I know 1 year has passed, but these cars tend to have steering column and transmission issues, always check them if possible
