With Alarak as a general rule you want *loads* of supplicants, simply to serve equal parts as food for Alarak, and a buffer for your more expensive units. At the beginning you want them behind Alarak rather than in front, since if they die quickly before Alarak 'eats' them, they were a waste. Once you upgrade their shields to be more resilient, they become useful en mass as a buffer unit. A solid row of supplicants, backed up by a row of vanguards, will deal with almost anything on the ground. But Alarak is your primary tank, he physically can't die while there are available supplicants within range, there's literally no point even building Alarak if you don't have a lot of them. He has neither range nor dps, his strength is in tanking for ages. But deliberately getting supplicants stuck behind your main line, that is a good idea. Another good idea for future reference, is in later waves to switch off autocast on Alarak's charge ability, that stops him dashing off into the enemy army and getting too far away from his food (the same advice applies to Kerrigan, she has a tendency to leap in and commit suicide if you let her). And no, war prism spam is not a thing, they're poor units. The only reason you build war prisms is to soak up some fire so your destroyers don't. Destroyers, much like vorazun's void rays, will annihilate pretty much anything once they reach critical mass, but with the added caveat that the chain lightning makes them much more effective in small numbers than normal void rays. Avoid the mothership though, it's a waste of money and very easy to counter, it's just there to be bullet bait in the late stages of play, usually used by an already winning team as a showboating unit. Your best late game play as Alarak, once the game has gone into the stage where big powerful units are the norm, is to dump down loads of wrathwalkers. A few of them won't achieve much, but once you start to build their numbers they'll dish out an incredible amount of damage from a safe distance, hitting both ground and air units at that. They're also a fantastic counter to tanky heroes like Dehaka and Alarak, where their sheer alpha strike can burn through most of their health in a single volley. Basically Alarak is the opposite way round from conventional protoss, his immortals are the splash damage dealers for massed units, while his colossi are the powerful single target damage dealers. If you can protect those two units for any length of time, you win.

So... one thing to point out is that the vanguard (immortal) has 8 attacks, so every +1 you give it actually gives it a metric ton of damage against armor specifically. I think they do something like 130. They are by far one of the best anti-armor and anti-structure units in this game mode, since 2 to 3 strikes can down a bunker. Another thing is that the stalker variant that Alarak gets is one of the best, doing something like 64 damage on a shot after blink, and having invulnerability similar to a Karax mirage. He has a great ability to field higher damage options compared to other protoss, so getting +1, and +2 dmg upgrade early is actually a really good investment.
Dude you gotta focus on unit count over gas going for the 150 gas early is fine but after that especially for alarak you need a solid army to keep your pushes up and maybe stack. Going 2-3 gas early leaves you weak army wise and your team mates both rushing t2 meant one of you needed to go early game mid game setup. One of the best strats I have stuck too is get the early gas after I set my initial squad and upgrade them. Also you should never put your supplicants on the front line. They are weakly armored and lightly shielded and they are ranged so you cant use them like zealots, put alarak first then about 7 or 8 supps and now you can compete with most waves! But yea rushing gas every game is not cash money of you
what you should do is place alarak supplicant spam then get the void rays or whatever they were for him and then the mothership never played the game no clue if it would work but thats my idea

But they have not added anymore since direct strike and that single player RPG game from like over a year ago. So I guess it didn't sell well or there was to much backlash.
You can join other people's games under the lobbies tab, and just pick direct strike games and just join games with their mode set to 3v3 comm. You don't need to pay any money to join someone else's game.

Yep. What is the point of throwing all your resources for 2nd and 3rd gas that gives you +1 income if you can just build more units with which you will win the middle which alone makes +2 difference (you are taking +1 from oponent and also getting that +1 for yourself) Middle is insanekly important. If enemy holds the middle for 5 wawes, that is 300 minerals over you

There are some nasty early knock out punches if you let other team push you back. Especialy if they have Karax who makes sudden switch from ground to air and anihilates your already pushed lane with his beam allowing for unobstructed access to bunker/fortress
To unlock the commanders game mode you need to pay 5 bucks from the arcade screen. Otherwise every single other arcade map is absolutely free. Except this one because it was popular and Blizzard wants to monetize sc2 more.
The Vanguards are really not good because their attack deals very low damage and thus gets countered by armor. I had more success with stalker + void ray spam and some occasional sentries because they amplify damage
This guy made couple videos about Direct Strike. But some of videos, he had no idea how those characters work apparently. For example, this video - High Nut. As couple comments already mentioned, High Nut should be in front of most its units, especially in early games. However, this guy not only just made merely 3 supplicants, not also placed them in front of High Nut through the early game to mid game. I am not saying he can not do that way, but it is just not how High Nut works properly in early game. High Nut is the character who appears in regular campaign and co-ops. His abilities and core value pretty much identical in Direct strike. This guy probably just a gaming youtuber, not a big fan of SC2. He never played SC2 campaign or co-ops.That' fine, I got it. But before he makes those SC2 related videos. Can he please GOOGLE those characters first, learning how to play them properly at least? Not even close to learn the units counters all that stuff, but just the properly builds and core values.

What I found works well is place 1 down in the beginning, and only place the next one after the previous one goes positive.
