    "How many bananas could I eat in 53 days if I was on a desert island?"
    Is the goal each day to hit a caloric intake or is it to maximize the number of banana's eaten?
    What kind of banana? Because Rhino Horn bananas can reach 2 feet (60cm) in length while finger bananas are around 3 inches (7.6cm).
    If the desert island is unclaimed can I establish a monarchy based micro nation and declare that I am the people? If so then does every person who is granted citizenship and eats a banana count towards the total since it's the royal we? This is more than just a multiplier as there would be an age range for the citizenry.
    If I take a page out of the pop-Roman playbook, do bananas vomited count as uneaten?
    If so if I eat a banana the night before then vomit it up in the morning will I cause the counter to stack underflow and achieve the maximum amount?
    Are we talking the fruit or trees?

    I think regarding your comment about the pooling system during Oxford interviews, there is one further reason as to why you may be pooled and I actually went through this possibility. At New College, like you, I had one amazing interview and one terrible interview and they sent me off to Mansfield to have a third interview. On the interview notice board however, it said that a girl from Mansfield was pooled to New for an interview for the same course as I so it could just be that the tutors at different colleges want another opinion of you as a candidate.

    • @kindly5374
      @kindly5374  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes absolutely, it's definitely to get another opinion on the candidate :) how did you do at the third?

    Admissions interviews from highly ranked universities shouldn't stress anyone out unless you're majoring in STEM or other majors where empirical knowledge is key. A music or sociology degree don't hold the same weight in the workforce regardless of which university you graduated from. Where you get your postgrad or PhD's are where the institution really matters though, so undergrads rejected from Oxbridge will have another chance to apply down the line if their dream job requires further education.

    • @kindly5374
      @kindly5374  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hey, thanks for the comment! I do have to say I disagree though - empirical knowledge is actually less important in STEM interviews because they focus more on your problem solving abilities than your prior knowledge. Also, where you do your undergraduate is actually very important to employers, as it is statistically significantly harder to get into oxbridge as an undergrad than as a masters student. But yes, you do get another chance if you want to do a masters or PhD :)

      @HurrpyDurrDerp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm on board with you to the point that your degree must have a direct relationship to the job you intend to apply for. To sort of tie your rant against ambiguity to this topic, ambiguous degrees (mostly in liberal arts) don't have much market value because employers don't know what you can offer besides adding fluff to a ten page essay. :P
      But I don't think most people go to Oxbridge to major in underwater basket weaving, so my points are kinda moot haha. Thank you for the considerate response :D

      @@HurrpyDurrDerp Yeah I do totally agree there is little point going to uni to do something completely irrelevant! However, as a history major as well as an economics, I can say I learnt skills that aren't entirely useless, such as how to write well, present an argument, absorb a lot of information very quickly etc. I'd like to think so anyway! Have a lovely Christmas :)

    • @HurrpyDurrDerp
      @HurrpyDurrDerp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are skills to take away definitely, history isn't a throwaway major. Your longform video essays on video games are enough proof of your thoughtfully presented arguments, it's not just you who thinks so! Merry Christmas to you too

    This was helpful thanks. Did you get any hard math problems? If so, how do you work them out?

    • @kindly5374
      @kindly5374  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did actually, it was something about blue and red pens wanting to live in towns mostly composed of blue and red pens respectively. Was rather odd, but was just applied economics. They really help lead you to the correct method when you are stuck. Just keep thinking about the problem in different ways, and even if you are completely stumped, explain your thinking. Don't just say you can't do it ever! Good luck!

    I'm hoping to apply for history and economics at Oxford this year! Would you be able to give me a bit of advice on preparing for the HAT?

    • @kindly5374
      @kindly5374  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Best of luck in your application, please be aware that HECO is a really tough workload so be 100% sure before you sign up to it! I think the best advice I can give for the HAT is to plan your argument before you start answering the question. Try to actually decide if you agree with the question posed, or not, and say that in your conclusion. Use the structure introduction --> argument that you believe in --> why some people might disagree --> why they are wrong --> conclusion. Feel free to drop me a message if that isn't clear!

    How many subjects you can choose for Oxford University?!

    • @kindly5374
      @kindly5374  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you apply you choose a course rather than a subject. A lot of courses are just one subject, such as English, History, or Maths, but there are also options for combining two or more subjects, like History & Economists or PPE. Whichever course you choose is what you do for the whole time you are at uni (rather than in the USA where you have to take on lots of subjects for your first year)

      @@aayushishah3674 Hmm well I think PPE might work for you (you get to drop one of philosophy, politics, or economics after first year if you don't like them). I think History is also a nice option, it is a bit more manageable than some of the joint courses. It really is up to you though! Try and choose the one you genuinely enjoy reading about the most, rather than what you think sounds the best on paper :) good luck!
