You know what they need to make? A turret game where the pod will actually spin as to where you want aim. The turrets could be on a Clone gunship, the millennium or even a hoth speeder. This is cool too, but it just isn't enough
lots of haters but I played this at dave n busters and for 1, it doesn't fly sideways. the camera angle is just skewed. 2. it's fun and it is definitely just a rail shooter but it's the immersion environment that makes it fun. you feel a blast of air and vibration when you accelerate, you get turned upside down because the screen is truly immersive, and the sound is amazing when inside the pod. this game was a blast. if you want to nit pick fine, but I suggest suspending cynicism and just having a good time. that's what video games were made for, remember?
I would imagine one of these days we'll get another starwars game where we'll actually be controlling the ships (not being on rails) and it'll be just as great to look at graphically, if not better. Hope someone makes that happen soon.
I've played almost the exact game at a dave and busters. The only difference between this and that, it looks like, is that that one was just a jet fighter simulator instead of x-wing simulator. It was pretty disappointing. You're just on a rail with a little room to aim. The screen isn't really that immersive as you would think. I would describe it more as a regular tv screen stretched across your face. I didn't really even notice a difference between that and a regular tv screen besides it occasionally being slightly annoying in size. I had way more fun playing the arcade version of Grid all night than I did with that. I can't see why this would be any different.
more like... THANK GOD ITS A RAIL SHOOTER! But if it's anything like mach-storm you have a bit more control than the traditional Rail SHooter fare - reminded me of the sega classic la machineguns with slightly more control
I initially went to this arcade Dave and Busters in Concord that's North Carolina to play an aviation game of F18 well I'm walking around the arcade and I see the Star Wars game and I was like Blown Away I really enjoyed the Star Wars game even though I did enjoy the F-18 game 2 but much more the Star Wars it's an awesome game
This could probably replicated at home with a short throw projector, a force feedback gaming chair, Saitek flight sim controllers, dedicated speakers and subwoofer all under $2000! Morpheus or Oculus Rift could do it much cheaper, but the experience wouldn't be the same!
Sooooo how the fuck do you end up flying around and WITHIN the superstructure of Death Star II when the SHIELD is still up? The SHIELD which is blocking the Alliance Fleet from ATTACKING the Death Star II? How isn't your ship going *splat* against the shield grid?
It is full rail. You just move the camera a bit and as long as your enemies are inside the circle, the auto aim will hit them. Played all the missions once and I didn't die a single time. Got boring really quickly. It's like that roller coaster simulator, but you push a button to shoot. I expected more.
So… If you're left-handed you're screwed? The 'throttle' level seemed pretty useless - I don't think he used it once except to leave Yavin/enter hyperspace.
nope you can play the game sitting on your head! And don't look at this scrub assuming he knows how to correctly play the game (it should be quite obvious he doesn't)...
As soon as he nose-dove into the trench & was pulled to safety I realized I'd be saving money. It's a damn guided-tour of the Death Star rather than an immersive world to fly and fight in as one wishes. Gay desu. Don't they have enough money to make a really powerful simulator? Just a curiosity. How can this be modern? Very informative video, thank you. Beats the trailer for it which had me reeling. Looks like a very pretty game, but horrible in design. Talk about a Force-tease. An awesome flight simulator needs to come out before they realize all that's left is an awesome lightsaber simulator. Which is what I'm waiting for. So hurry up, LucasArts! Meh...I guess I just want a holodeck.
Could have been a great game but a Rail shooter with you sitting 2 feet from 60" or so screen? I was excited for this when a friend told me but now after checking into it more. A lame attempt. Might be just me but I will pass on this one.
it looks pretty poor to me. on the rails not much player involvement. this is back to the late 90s arcade experience. and looks chaotic. they should do a totally interactive freedom of movement game with something like occulus rift. like... something more hi tech. look at what we can get at home nowadays. Elite Dangerous and Star citizen soon
There is a 'Battle Of Endor' someone made for the Oculus DK2, I have it and its fucking amazing. The sense of scale is incredible and you can fly inside the deathstar to take out the reactor. Fuck this!
Yikes, this looks..."consoled". Does not appear that the player has actual control over the craft he is flying, nor does he have control over weapons or power configuration. But, it does seem dumbed down enough to cater to casual gamers.
Sighs... ON rail bullshit. "This is really, really fast." NO it's not! It's on rails! It's not fast at all! It's an illusion! "Feel like a giant oculus rift." i'll give you that. rm 4 for 2.5 minutes of gameplay, lol, no. BLAM THIS PIECE OF CRAP though yeah, sure, graphics are great, but BLAM THIS PIECE OF CRAP Where's the 'Stay on target' meme?
+Khai N. Wow, I posted that comment a year ago huh? Well, let's respond to this. I'm going to be serious here. "It's not fast." I made this comment in mockery of the guy playing. That he says that just means he really hasn't played a lot of games. I don't expect advanced physics like Ace combat, but I was really hoping for a fun plane simulator, perhaps somethings like Ace rivals/Space cowboys where you have full control over both your speed and the direction of the plane. "Blam" is an internet word for 'destroy' or 'get rid of'. It's mostly used in the newgrounds flash portal. Urban dictionary 'blam' for more information. Anyway it's used in situations when you don't want to be fully serious, but still want to express dislike. The proper way to use 'blam' is to say "BLAM THIS PIECE OF CRAP". Lastly, you really should take a look at japanese arcade games. Gundam Kizuna (FULL Proper controls, an amazing game) costs rm 5 here to play. Wangan 5 ( full proper and amazing driving game) costs rm 2 per play. Razing storm rm 2 per play, house of dead rm 2 per play. All of these games are games of quality. You know, in the olden ages of history, did you know that arcades were the pionere of gaming? Games in arcades were far more advance then anything you could get on PC or Consoles. Why do you settle for poor quality arcade games. You're wrong if you think that arcade only has poor quality. Pokken will be arcade, Gunslinger stratos is arcade, Miku rhythm games are arcade. Mai mai is arcade. Sound vortex is arcade. Shit, there's just so many high quality arcade games that I can't list them all. TL DR: Go play better arcade games you scrub. Don't settle for this boring fake controls imitation of star wars x - wing video game. that's right. I'm saying a DOS game is better then this piece of shit. Also urban dictionary "blam"
+Khai N. Hey now, I replied a day after. You just responding to my 1 year comment surprised me. "Blam" is used non seriously, and 'blame' makes no sense in my context of "get rid of this shitty game", which is what blam does. And lastly, I'm using a meme to get my point across humorously. Also, you are raging really hard, so calm down. Wanting to get rid of the game does not mean wanting to get rid of the machine or hardware. That's idiotic. It's like saying to destroy Blizzard because Diablo sucks while Starcraft is perfectly fine. If you know anything about arcade culture, you'll know that machines are often reused. The Initial D v8 machines are actually the same machines as Initial D V5, you know? These machines could easily be re-purposed for an awesome tank game. Comparing high quality arcade games. to low quality arcade games. Heh. We're both in agreement then, since you agree that this game is low quality. However, I DO have an issue with it's existence. It takes up ARCADE space and resources. Which means, if I'm seeing this game in the arcade, I'm not getting another game to play. A game like say, Gundam Kizuna. Though all things said, I understand why it exists. It's borrowing brand license. It's that macho Ash toy that you seen. It's shit, but it's associated with something else that is good, so you assume it's good. Like star wars battlefront. I don't use it. i don't go back to it. I have no need to encourage people who are playing it. I'm not a person who takes away the happiness someone has when they are having fun. Instead, I just tell people on the internet to please, don't play or support this game. It's shit. It's fine if you don't mind using money, or if you're hard core fan of star wars and enjoy this cinematic projection, go ahead. View this movie and enjoy it. But just go play Gundam Kizuna instead.
This is really fast!
*constantly throttled up*
You know what they need to make? A turret game where the pod will actually spin as to where you want aim. The turrets could be on a Clone gunship, the millennium or even a hoth speeder. This is cool too, but it just isn't enough
Use your brakes dude!
It's fast because you're not using the brake.
lots of haters but I played this at dave n busters and for 1, it doesn't fly sideways. the camera angle is just skewed. 2. it's fun and it is definitely just a rail shooter but it's the immersion environment that makes it fun. you feel a blast of air and vibration when you accelerate, you get turned upside down because the screen is truly immersive, and the sound is amazing when inside the pod. this game was a blast. if you want to nit pick fine, but I suggest suspending cynicism and just having a good time. that's what video games were made for, remember?
Someone really needs to make a hard core X-Wing simulator with these graphics for PC.
Essentially an update version of Star Wars Arcade.
SEGA's 1998 Star wars trilogy arcade with nowdays graphics ... I WANT IT!!!!!!
I would imagine one of these days we'll get another starwars game where we'll actually be controlling the ships (not being on rails) and it'll be just as great to look at graphically, if not better.
Hope someone makes that happen soon.
I got to play this game at Playdium in Mississauga Ontario Canada!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!
ARCADE AGE IS ALIVE!!!
I want that Battle Pod with Rogue Squadron 4
I've played almost the exact game at a dave and busters. The only difference between this and that, it looks like, is that that one was just a jet fighter simulator instead of x-wing simulator. It was pretty disappointing. You're just on a rail with a little room to aim. The screen isn't really that immersive as you would think. is it just a rail shooter?
YUUUUUP!
more like... THANK GOD ITS A RAIL SHOOTER! But if it's anything like mach-storm you have a bit more control than the traditional Rail SHooter fare - reminded me of the sega classic la machineguns with slightly more control
terrible. there are enough n00bified rail shooters. give me something hardcore simmy.
***** which rail shooters are you talking about?
DjDedan which ones..... how about all of them!
The whole "I'm nosed down and thrusting towards the Death Star but still flying sideways" on-rails action kind of puts me off.
On Rails
What we need is a computer controlled gyroscopic pod where you wear a vr headset... that would be INSANE
This could probably replicated at home with a short throw projector, a force feedback gaming chair, Saitek flight sim controllers, dedicated speakers and subwoofer all under $2000! Morpheus or Oculus Rift could do it much cheaper, but the experience wouldn't be the same!
But The pod you are sitting in is Not moving like a flightsimmulator?
"Let's throw in a tie-bomber, just for the hell of it"
Like srsly, wtf business does it have there?
based off the mach-storm game sans lock-on missiles it seems... mach-storm is awesome so this looks to be awesome as well.
I am surprise that arcades still exist today. Guess I don't go out that much to see one near by :(
I'm playing this in Vegas tommorow.
Sooooo how the fuck do you end up flying around and WITHIN the superstructure of Death Star II when the SHIELD is still up? The SHIELD which is blocking the Alliance Fleet from ATTACKING the Death Star II? How isn't your ship going *splat* against the shield grid?
The developers fucked up that's how.
hope the new battlefront looks like this
This just makes me wish they'd do another PC Star Wars flight sim with these graphics.
Where do I buy one of these ??!!!!
ok im 34 but this is going to put my butt back in the arcades :P
It's like Rogue Squadron if it was an arcade game.
I would love to play this game so bad
Needs to be released as a PSN title with Morpheus and joystick support!!!
Im going to Dave and Busters next year just so i can play this for an hour then leave. Fuck yes! The perfect star wars game
Damn the game looks very fast base. Hard to keep track of everything on screen.
Can a setup like that be bought or built? I want one!
Dangit...need a new Rogue Squadron NOW
It is full rail. You just move the camera a bit and as long as your enemies are inside the circle, the auto aim will hit them. Played all the missions once and I didn't die a single time. Got boring really quickly. It's like that roller coaster simulator, but you push a button to shoot. I expected more.
there are still arcades out there?
So… If you're left-handed you're screwed?
The 'throttle' level seemed pretty useless - I don't think he used it once except to leave Yavin/enter hyperspace.
nope you can play the game sitting on your head!
And don't look at this scrub assuming he knows how to correctly play the game (it should be quite obvious he doesn't)...
DUDE! Stop shooting at the X-Wings! They're your friends! (Lol)
There's more hand holding then a "help elder women cross the street" convention.
I so what to play this now
According to the folks at the event, it's at Dave and Busters near Time Square in New York now until November 2nd.
Haa I am am nine to ten hours away from NYC
It's also in the Dave and Busters in Milpitas, California, and I got to try it out!
+Dan “WhyteeDan” Whyte It's also in the Dave and Buster's here in Hawaii! I got second place on the leaderboard!
The force was not strong with this one.
OWNED.
It looks cool, but it seems linear/rail?
The guy playing looks like Lando.
I was hoping for like none rail shooter dog fights against other people
Why do they even bother putting a joystick on this?!!!!
Really cool, actually!
This looks soo fun
As soon as he nose-dove into the trench & was pulled to safety I realized I'd be saving money. Guy blows up the death star and he doesn't even crack a smile?
How awesome!
Look at his left hand his throttle is set on MAX...
IT's got two positions you know..
Could have been a great game but a Rail shooter with you sitting 2 feet from 60" or so screen? I was excited for this when a friend told me but now after checking into it more. A lame attempt. Might be just me but I will pass on this one.
alguien sabe si existe algun juego como este para PC???
Throttle. Left Hand.... use it.
this is more like a redo of N64's Rouge Squadron.
This is sweet bring it to consoles disney
So Awesome
Since when do x-wing fly sideways? Looks like every other "destroy the death star" game that's been released.
Just like Gundam Senjou no Kitsuna.
why did he use boost the whole time? 💋
i play this game in the philipins at sm mall of asia at manila
I've tried it it's really fun 😉
I played this at las vegas
Now that is tooo COOOL! :D
To me there's no case of putting a throttle leveler if the user is not going to use it, what a waste, in that case just use the joystick!
okay so its not like a rail shooter thats great now i want it
Use the brake!

Woulda been beeter if the pod moved. For that price it should flip. Ok but overall...fail in execution.
it's just a Gundam Senjou no Kizuna clone
You say that like it's a bad thing.
It's not.
It's worse then a gundam kizuna clone
LoL This guy only moved his left hand one time.
Lol, he did not get it at all.
Me likey me want wingy!
fook mint XD :) yay new star wars arcade
super balaise
awesome game but awful pilot lol...
This guy is not a gamer, sheeeeeeeesh. Get out of the machine dude...
:)
Yikes, this looks..."consoled". Does not appear that the player has actual control over the craft he is flying, nor does he have control over weapons or power configuration. But, it does seem dumbed down enough to cater to casual gamers.
Looks great if they would drop all that stupid "GREAT KILL" and "COMBO" shit
Talk about an immersion-killer.
D:
Bad losser
meh!
learn2play pleb

Clearly a rip off of Mass Effect. Unsubbed
Not at all impressive.
