Great tutorial. One item you may wish to emphasize is where to create the original mesh. On my Mac with Maya 2022 I am only able to distribute a mesh along a curve if I create the mesh at 0, 0, 0; otherwise even if I freeze transformations prior to creating the MASH waiter, the instances and/or meshes are offset.

That’s a really good point Glen, thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed. Indeed you do have to ensure that your meshes are at the centre of the world, and I’ll bear that in mind for any future mash tutorials. Have a lovely day.

Thanks for this. I was hoping to make a ring of curves and have the model step around those combined curves.

Definitely possible and would look really cool coupled with different shading for the bead and fabric types. I’d start by creating the shapes you’d like to use, run it through mash and use an ID node to filter your different shapes. Use a radial distribution and increase your instances. You should be able to change the order of this using the ID node itself. Once you have created one complete ring, you could then use the replicator node if you wish each ring to be the same, or create another using different shapes but the same process.

I tried to put the object on the curve, but every time it attaches to me very far from the curve. I gave freeze transform to both

hello, try with the original mesh put at origin, and make sure to have 0 distance in the distribute node

@dumitrucalughin5114 Change the Maya scene working unit to centimeters from Maya's preferences -> settings -> Working Units -> Linear -> Centimeter. For some unknown reason, Maya's mash network does not work as it should if the scene working unit is set to anything but centimeters...
