Great video. It would be nice if you did a video of a painting using these watercolours. It would help me to know how these colours work a bit better.

Thank you for this information that has been waiting for me to discover 2 yrs later and so good for me to see. I am 75 and still leaning so much about this art form. Watercolor is my fav, though at my age I have been privileged to learn oh, so many crafts. Thank you for your opinion on this brand. I an awaiting my first order of 100 ArtEcho from Amazon that I chose for price and hoping for the dry coloration. Best of wishes to you. I am on to your next part of this ArtEcho Watercolour Review.

Thank you for doing this series! At the moment I’m not drawn to take up painting because I feel like I already don’t have enough time to do all the knitting I want to, but I enjoy watching this channel and always think “maybe someday”…if that day does come, I’ll definitely be referring back to this series to choose what materials to start with!

I just found your video as I wanted to learn more about the 18 set watercolour one I got, which I love. I didn't understand the warm/ cool colours (only just been learning about colour theory and your video really helped me to identify my paints. Do you know if any of these paints have granulate in them? I heard if the number contains a G it does, so does that mean Viiridian is one for example? Also what do the stars mean? I love these paints so much, I've ordered the 50 set one too. My 4 year loves painting with my little set as well, and it was a cheap way to get me started in water colour too.

@@MinaDoesArtStuff Ooh I shall go and have a virtual wander. I’ve got a smaller art space for a while and this would be useful. Thanks!

I like b&w colors on a palette, for two reasons: titanium white will give you different types of a pastel feel than simply using more water, and the black needs to be Pbk11, so you can force granulation when mixed (so basically, you use the pbk11 as a special effects pan, rather than as "black" color). That VanDyke Brown was very weak indeed btw, VanDyke needs to be almost sepia-black.

I agree both titanium white and PBk11 are great to have on a palette but most beginner sets do not include those versions .. most have a chinese white which is transparent so basically useless and they usually have a lamp or ivory black which are not great options either. I do still think that beginners are better off without a white and black initially while learning the basics but there is nothing wrong with adding them to your palette and learning how to use them as well ... I've seen too many artists on youtube saying they use the white in their watercolour palette in order to lighten their colours rather than using water and thats really the main issue i have with white.

@@MinaDoesArtStuff I paint quite a few pastel artworks, and I can safely say that pastels with white definitely look different than the ones diluted with water. There's a different look to them. I personally prefer the ones with white, as it gives them a more vintage pastels feels, rather than modern transparent pigments. Both ways can be used, but the visual result is different. As for black, I'm only backing the Pbk11 one, which can be used as a granulation agent, a special effect. I don't think I own tubes of the other types of black.
