Yep, a sharp chain is the most important element when sawing. Nice port job. The muffler breathing and carb adjust have the biggest effect on my stock saws.
Cool 2nd unboxing! So the problem I was chasing was the carb would not open 100% when not in the cut. Wasn’t related to porting or power increase, they have a lot of flex in the av mounts so once the bar hits the wood the flex would allow the throttle open up all the way. I noticed they changed the throttle trigger on my newer one. The muffler I only took the baffle out. The cylinder mostly got exhaust port work. I’ll have post the pics I have from your saw.
Hi Travis! Just found your channel and am enjoying your content. Just wanted to comment on how you installed the spikes or felling dogs on the unboxed Pinkway saw. Usually they are installed with the ends pointing up. They are designed so when you are cutting a large diameter limb or log and need to rock the saw to get a better bite the chainsaw will easily drop without catching the bark or without needing to pull the saw back to clear the spikes. Try cutting and using the dogs the way you have them positioned now and then reverse them and use them on another cut. You'll notice the difference right away.

@@TravisDoesFirewood I think the holes will line up if you flip the spike bar. Some larger Stihl saws will only work one way but I don't think that's the case here.
Will take your word for it on the increased power. Seemed like I could sense a pulsing of the rpm and sharpness of the chain was't optimal but overall good real world video.
I'll admit, , I've not heard of "Pinkway" until your videos! But I admittedly prefer my cantankerous, old, quirky Echo saws (since I am also cantankerous and quirky 😅)
I am not convinced that a completely free flow exhaust is a good idea on a chainsaw for general use. Without any back pressure it sucks a lot more fuel and potentially takes away from real world cutting with little more than a ridiculous increase in noise. My Proyama PCS68 came with a completely open muffler and it is so loud as to be uncomfortable for anyone within fifty feet. I am seriously considering having a baffle made for it.

@@TravisDoesFirewood I am not against a ported machine, as long as it isn't simply maxed out horsepower and no practical midrange for practical use. However, that is for me. If someone is building a hard core race saw I often still admire them with zero interest in running them. Any combustion engine is simply an air pump and maximizing the efficiency is a good thing. Does that make sense?
