But I am still correct about how the Scotfish was apart of the Red Mist version of the story.
Imagine a sequel of red mist retake. Imagine if the other characters having the red mist effect and incidents. Imagine one for me Krabs since he has PTSD and he is only greedy for money as a distraction. Escapism never works. You gotta solve and face your problems and fix those situations you are in. Suicide is never the answer. I wish Squidward was saved by someone before he died by the red mist. The impact on your death will affect so many you love. You will lose any chance of anything getting any better once you do horrible things to yourself.
I feel like Spongebob and Patrick might be the only ones capable of stopping it, their childlike innocence and joy possibly just powerful enough to drive this mist off.

This is 100% better than the original, i just love how it feels like a actual episode instead of trying to be scary like most creepypastas try to do nowadays, vibingleaf is slowly making creepypastas good again.
I feel like “Red Mist” is the blood thats turning the water red (since its underwater, duh) and the blood is affecting the fish in very strange and negative ways. Could be some Lovecraftion monster’s blood, due to the corruption.
Sometimes, I feel like the red mist mentioned is rather squidwards depression. A feeling which instead of anger, it's his depression. He tried so hard on what he loves and is passionate about it, but no matter how hard he tries, people still hate his talent and his work. It could be the reason he takes his life, as he hit a rock bottom point. I also understand the aftermath of squidwards death, as the ones who were close and loved ones mourn him. They believe they did something wrong and were unable to reach out to him during his time of need. The distortion might be the depression lingering around them, "infecting" them as mentioned in the video.
It's sorta like watching a mental breakdown happen in the middle of the forest at night. It's not necessarily scary because something's actually there stalking you, but because there _could_ be something around you- and because of that possibility all the little things like small sounds and disturbances, start to suddenly drive you to the edge of paranoia.
A small detail I noticed is that the audience no longer has the hyper-realistic eyes when booing squidward. I really adds to this idea of the Red Mist being a manifestation of declining mental health/depression which affects squidward. I mean, his clarinet playing being bad is canon and the butt of multiple jokes, so it only makes sense that there's not something out of place or paranormal that drives hate for it in this case. Just sort of adds more by being simpler.
My favorite part about this re-take, is how it's not very clear if the Red Mist is a real entity or just a metaphor for Squidward's mental state And I love the super in-character conversation between SpongeBob and Patrick, it makes sense that SpongeBob would blame himself, but he won't let that stop his cheerful personality, he has to keep going, for Squidward
The analog horror influence on this honestly makes the lost media feel it’s supposed to have even better. The influence the red mist has on him reminds me of how the moon influences people in Local 58, which honestly makes more sense than just Squidward doing this for no other reason than to just be scary. Imagine other lost episodes rewritten and visualized like this
What’s interesting is that the idea of a storm of “red mist” sounds almost like a SpongeBob plot. Like, a spooky storm of mist that messes with the residents of Bikini Bottom, sounds like the idea for an actual episode.
This was a really good remake of the pasta, and way better than the others. It has its own things inside, and it even includes the dead children from the original story, but in a way that doesn't make it just for shock value but actually utilized for squidwards madness. Also I like how chill Patrick was when talking about SpongeBob on how suicide works, very reminiscent of how chill he was on season one, despite the episode being on Season 4. The aesthetic of the episode also feels like it was from a episode being worked on and being dropped because of it's disturbing nature. Very cool retake.
The way you describe it almost reminds me of a theory I have for Patrick's Diabetes (the newer version that doesn't involve Patrick being zombified) it being a PSA that was a little too messed up and was dropped
OH 10:40 I want to point out the the Center creature kinda looks like Mickey Mouse, and just only 3 weeks ago, Leaf has posted a trailer to the Su*c*de_Mouse.AVI Re-Take. And IMO, the creature on the Left looks like a combination of Squidward and a Human Skull. I feel like these stories are connected in a way, it's kinda similar to the Macabre Experiement Analog Horror series and I love it.
@@SomeRobIoxDude it wasn't really a "re-take", it was his own original spin on the Sonic.exe trope, as the creature that resembles Sonic.exe is a completely different character, looking like if Sonic had gotten his own Wario.
It’s such a powerful recreation of The Redmist. I love the part at the end where they cheer each other up. “Sometimes a fish just doesn’t want to live,” is a perfect touch. It really makes me empathize with SpongeBob and Patrick.
Vibingleaf’s re-takes creates such a better story than the originals, but also give them all somber ends. It really gives depth to the story as opposed to “jump scare/gore = scary”.
The Red Mist is just an allegory for depression or other mental illnesses. That's why it hung around squidward and got worse after the concert and why spongebob got distorted after finding squidward's body. Patrick talking to him is what ended up snapping him out of it, which is why the corruption didn't get as far with him as it did with Squidward. It's especially telling that no-one seems to be able to see the red mist accept the people who are currently going through some kind of crisis. No-one noticed what was going on with squidward which is why no-one tried to talk to or comfort him, which is what eventually lead to him killing himself and Patrick just stopped the same thing from happening to spongebob accidentally. This is why it's really important to talk to and check on your friends especially after something bad happens to them.
The ending is genius. A lot of these old stories don’t have a genuine conclusion. Something about seeing the grief and regret from SpongeBob and Patrick at the end really brings this all together. Just two friends, reflecting on what they’ve lost and giving each other comfort. In a way, it makes the story seem a lot more human. Maybe I’m thinking about it a little too deeply, but the retake really does make you think differently about the original story.
I have a similar take of the spongebob lost episode genera, but every lost episode creepypasta of spongebob has souls in the characters in those episodes, they feel all the pain, the misery, the screaming...
The red mist is absolutely terrifying. Even more than any generic horror movie killer. Because, while other creepypastas kill the victim in usually gruesome ways, the red mist uses mental warfare only to destroy them. The monster does not kill them, but is only a brief apparition that pushes the mind of squidward to its limits, causing him to do... That. Not to mention how horrifying the fish at the beginning phrased as if it's "Coming" I would've probably been terrified and filled with dread if I knew something unknown called "The red mist" was coming to my Town, and even, my home.
I'd like to imagine that the hyper realistic eyes were a more deep meaning part of Red Mist. I think it represents how Squidward views others when they tell him or show him he isn't good at what he does. I think he believes the eyes are the hatred and anger of the other fish putting him down for just wanting to pursue music. When Squidward finally has these eyes, it likely represents how he succumbed to his depressive and dark thoughts and sees these demonic figures that represent his doubts and lack of self esteem which he responds by offing himself as he sees it as his only way out
Never change, your videos are great. The serious tone on usually not so scary stories, your tone, editing and midvideo theory crafting give your videos a distinct unique style while you highlight very underrated creepy stuff that most people would miss out on!

They say that it's scarier to not show the audience something. This is true in most cases, but with lost episode creepypastas, you kinda need to show it in order to be creepy, as the story on its own sounds really stupid. With the rise of analog horror in recent years, I wouldn't be surprised if more lost episode creepypasta's got this treatment.
What I think this Red Mist represents on the remaster, is far better than the original, because to me this seems to be a sinister presence, in the form of a mist, a phenomenon only a few can see coming, maybe only those who are misserable And it waits, until some of your worst days in life come, to take you at your lowest, not really the moment you would decide to end it all, but just close enough for it to push you over the edge when you're most vulnerable, and make it seem to everyone that you just took your own life due to the unfortunate circumstances
See I think that makes it worse. It's not meaning or interesting, it's just ooh big bad evil monster stuff kills you, which is typical creepypasta stuff. If it is more psychological, it makes the ending conversation more meaningful and impactful. It reducing depression and suicide to an eldritch being dumbs the very real illness.
@@gvd72 To me the fact that we already think we know enough, to diagnose it, and rationalize it, makes it scarier to think that these people don't actually want to die, they're just pushed over the edge by a sinister presence that we have no way of knowing was responsible for it all
@@gvd72 I disagree completely, it feels the opposite to me, seems like everyone makes it an illness or something psychological, having it be some unknown entity is much more interesting and creepy to me.
So, while I as watching this, I was dozing off for some reason, and at the bit where SpongeBob yelled, "SQUIDWAAAAAAA-" I practically jumped out of my seat.
it’s almost like the sadness and depression of not having squidward around was really affecting them, and the red mist was about to affect them just like it did with squidward. But like you said, because they stayed positive it’s most likely they won’t be affected by the red mist and try to move on with their lives the best they can. I really do like how the red mist retake shows what suicide feels and what it looks like. To even showing how it affects them, it’s hauntingly accurate and beautiful. I wish for more creepypastas to show more emotion like that.
"Foolish idiots, for it was actually I von karma who puppetered this tragedy all along!" Can we just replace the "it was Satan all along" trope with this version pls
red mist/scary squidward should’ve been a more sad story instead of shock factor and glitches tbh. like with the topic it, uhm, portrays I think. (Also I just CANNOT take it seriously cuz it’s SpongeBob)
red mist may be a reference to both blood _and_ to "red tides," an oceanic phenomenon involving blooms of algae and phytoplankton that turn waters red.
dunno if I missed it but I'm surprised he didn't mention the fact that RED MIST was so popular that nick actually included a reference to RED MIST in an *official* episode of spongebob
This is better than the original Because it's actually in character, Squidward might be sad sure but he wouldn't kill himself even IF the rating was high enough to allow it, him killing himself after witnessing an Eldritch Horror is a better way for him to off himself without being out of character. SpongeBob and Patrick were also amazingly in character.
No it isn't, Squidward feels RAGE because of SpongeBob and Patrick's shenanigans while it has fallen into sadness territoy before. Those are specific situations. Squidward does more than just Clarinet Practice, he does Art. if people booed him, he'd be Sad, Sure. But he'd still have something else to live for. In fact, he's shown multiple times that he DOES like SpongeBob and Patrick deep down inside and that he'd go insane without them and Transform into them as a Coping mechanism. It's honestly disgusting how much you and dosens of others misundersand Squidward's character.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. This is how red mist is suppose to be! Periodt and the ending of it is the cherry on top too because since this is involving suicide this covers that perfectly!
I love this new trend of people taking things we found scary as kids and completely reworking them to be actual pieces of horror. I'm not sure if this can count as digital horror, but it definitely checks the gen z nostalgia box
I can't help but wonder if the Retake was a result of FNF's impact on reviving long dead creepypastas. Either way, I hope this is a new era for internet horror that actually inspires creativity on all sides, rhythm game or not
personally, i believe the little flash of patrick and spongebob are to convey the discovery of squidward's body; showing spongebob with an eye probably to symbolize him as the first one to discover him
4:50 "The fish's eyes look very realistic. One could even say that they're hyper realistic" Wtf sort of eyes having you been looking at? This looks nothing like real eyes XD
The images at the end make me think they’re teasers for different Re-Takes. Leaf has already made a Have You Seen This Man? one and has teased a SuicideMouse.AVI one. Not sure who the guy in the left could be tho
I actually watched "The Red Mist Re-Take" before I started watching this. To be honest, I kept getting analog horror vibes from the video and holy shit it scared me a bit.
Something that I thought about regarding the Scotfish, is that it perhaps is a metaphor for what is to come. From what I have seen, bagpipes are oftentimes played at funerals, and so with this, maybe its Squidward’s psyche foreshadowing his loss of sanity.
the bagpipe fish looks creepy with those eyes, but thing is it looks like vibingleaf edited some fish eyes and smacked em on there. Still better than I could do, cuz I don’t know how to edit at all
@@Juicyman31 I can see where you’re coming from. I’m kind of just desensitised after everything I’ve seen on the internet. So stuff like this no longer gets under my skin, but I still appreciate the art of it. And as an artist, it also inspires me. :)
when spongebob goes like "SQUIDWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA---" and then you see squidwards face being censored with the burning background it was like too creepy man and also i have no idea why did i watch this at 3:31AM like dayum also i like your vids man keep it up!
I’m sorry but I think my problem with stuff like this is that everything is shown or given a name. Like old red mist sucked I can admit it. But even other things like the backrooms were ruined because of this reason, people started giving new names for things and trying to explain an unexplainable force in attempt to make it scarier.
I....disagree with this particular one. I do feel like while there are some things that don't deserve to be shown, as it takes away the creep factor, but I think it works here ngl. Then again, I still don't find it creepy, just sad, and that's...kinda why I like it. But even then, riddle me this. Where did it come from? Where did the dead children come from? Why'd it go for Squidward specifically? I feel like it doesn't go out of its way to explain something. But I guess it's more of a...I don't really care about horror kinda thing, I just like Gearisko's and Goose Boose's content. So, maybe I'm not one to talk. But, whatever, think what you think and I think what I think Edit: oh my god this came off as pretentious.
i feel like the person who created this masterpiece is a genius , because they showed us how this lost episode was supposed to be , the horror , the gore , they really saved this creepypasta from being foolish and harmless , this person should work as an animator .
Initially, I thought that the red mist was the blood coming off of Squidward and floating in the water, but this makes it so much more unnerving and I don't think I'll see Red-Mist the same way again.
Honestly, remaking old Lost Episode Creepypastas could be developed into an interesting ARG or Unfiction Series. Like, for instance, it’d could be slightly based off of the Welcome Home ARG and there group seeking out early versions of Episodes, Movies, Games, and Etc to show the public what their favorite media could’ve been like, only for them to come put twisted and darker than normal.
not sure if this is mentioned but the lack of vocals in the video but the spongebob screaming after discovering squidward being the only, spoken dialogue
if you slow down the part with the photos and the #1 in the left corner: after the first image squidwards head turns into a pink glob with stalk eyes similar to mr crabs for 1 frame
I like to think that the Red Mist is actually a kind of force of nature that corrupts your dark thoughts untill you kill yourself via paranoia, but that characters so innocent as to not have those dark thoughts are unaffected, such as SpongeBob. The cliff part shows how, by losing Squidward, the Red Mist can start corrupting him, but Patrick's message nullifies the corruption, and that's why it's shown as a quick, no face, corruption instead of everything else we've seen... But that's just my headcanon :p
I watched this and my first thoughts were, jesus christ this is scary and then when squidward finaly alt f4'd himself. Just turned......happy, maybe sad? It was an amazing take on this story, would recommend. I mainly thought the scary part was that entity(I think its squidwards mental state of some sort) backing him up. Forcing him to shoot.
Not only the sadness and horrifying disturbance takes hold, but the occasions where this is referenced take hold too. First, a Lies retake, introducing the fish, and then Bootleg Spongebob. What i can say is that Spongebob was horribly affected by Squidward's unnerving dead body, which the Red Mist and the horrible concert disaster had caused which the Lies fish says that Spongebob should lose hope and stop pretending. A VibingLeaf post shows a Jr. fish appears to exist in the realm too. There's also a Plankton Gets Served retake, but however i think it doesn't have anything to do with this whole saga.

Why did this comment turn into a PSA halfway through lmao
Also it is an option because people have a right to make that decision themselves.
@@gvd72 What the hell is wrong with you? Suicide is never the answer to fixing all your problems no matter what situation your in. nor is self harm, self hatred. If you feeling suicidal. Don't do anything bad to yourself and please fix whatever situation your going through and get the help you need.
@@gvd72 while i think i get your point, going by the mentality "end your life if you choose to" is not the way to go. It can be prevented, stopped. It's more fault of the healthcare and mental health system across the globe that is the problem most if not all suicides are a result of mental break. Losing sanity can be "treated" , it can be helped and stopped before you fall into a spiral of self hate, loss of passion and lack of caring. It shouldn't be an option, instead getting reliable help should be the option which we are not too far away from these days.
@@gvd72 why does it sound like you support SD 💀💀💀💀. I will understand their is situations where it has to happen(terminal illnesses and the lot) and people simply want to die the way they want to die.i have no problem on that take.
Could be some Lovecraftion monster’s blood, due to the corruption.
the bikini bottom residents dealing with blood in the water could be used for a very freaky story
This is a really good theory
🎶 NOW THERE'S BLOOD IN THE WATER 🎶
@@i_have_no_enemies420 Trouble
Blood is in the rocky waters

Hiper-realistic Blood
Sometimes, I feel like the red mist mentioned is rather squidwards depression. A feeling which instead of anger, it's his depression. He tried so hard on what he loves and is passionate about it, but no matter how hard he tries, people still hate his talent and his work. It could be the reason he takes his life, as he hit a rock bottom point. I also understand the aftermath of squidwards death, as the ones who were close and loved ones mourn him. They believe they did something wrong and were unable to reach out to him during his time of need. The distortion might be the depression lingering around them, "infecting" them as mentioned in the video.
Again, the worst part about suicide is not just you, its the people who are close to you who are also affected, sometimes just as badly as you.
It's sorta like watching a mental breakdown happen in the middle of the forest at night. It's not necessarily scary because something's actually there stalking you, but because there _could_ be something around you- and because of that possibility all the little things like small sounds and disturbances, start to suddenly drive you to the edge of paranoia.
walten files have me this exact vibe
thats also what it feels like watching this at night before falling asleep :)
this retake gives unnerving strange vibes like something between "Boozoo's Ghosts"/"The Mysterious House" and Suicide mouse. i like it
TWF is the GOAT I can’t handle that shit at all but I can’t get enough of it.
boozoos ghost made me bawl my eyes out and so did this retake of red mist, they were both so sad
twf made me lose my shit but hell it is a masterpiece
also last time i watched it i threw up brutally
A small detail I noticed is that the audience no longer has the hyper-realistic eyes when booing squidward. I really adds to this idea of the Red Mist being a manifestation of declining mental health/depression which affects squidward. I mean, his clarinet playing being bad is canon and the butt of multiple jokes, so it only makes sense that there's not something out of place or paranormal that drives hate for it in this case. Just sort of adds more by being simpler.
My favorite part about this re-take, is how it's not very clear if the Red Mist is a real entity or just a metaphor for Squidward's mental state
And I love the super in-character conversation between SpongeBob and Patrick, it makes sense that SpongeBob would blame himself, but he won't let that stop his cheerful personality, he has to keep going, for Squidward
I thought of the same thing too when Patrick started talking about suicide. I really liked that part
The way you describe it almost reminds me of a theory I have for Patrick's Diabetes (the newer version that doesn't involve Patrick being zombified) it being a PSA that was a little too messed up and was dropped
OH 10:40
I want to point out the the Center creature kinda looks like Mickey Mouse,
and just only 3 weeks ago, Leaf has posted a trailer to the Su*c*de_Mouse.AVI Re-Take.
And IMO, the creature on the Left looks like a combination of Squidward and a Human Skull.
I feel like these stories are connected in a way,
it's kinda similar to the Macabre Experiement Analog Horror series and I love it.
The one on the right looks like a disfigured sonic for some reason
Didnt he make a Sonic.exe retake too???
I thought it was squidwards head blown in half
@@starsnipe-yp5hx that sounds more accurate
@@SomeRobIoxDude it wasn't really a "re-take", it was his own original spin on the Sonic.exe trope, as the creature that resembles Sonic.exe is a completely different character, looking like if Sonic had gotten his own Wario.
@@TheMagnumDon yeah, “doomed” the best sonic exe I’ve ever seen, the thing is super blunt and casual about the most alarming things lmao
Except*
That.
Not to mention how horrifying the fish at the beginning phrased as if it's "Coming"
I would've probably been terrified and filled with dread if I knew something unknown called "The red mist" was coming to my Town, and even, my home.
I just hate when creepypastas have no meaning and just be scary and gory for the sake of it this has a purpose and is actually good
I'd like to imagine that the hyper realistic eyes were a more deep meaning part of Red Mist.

The Patrick and Spongebob scene at the end on the cliff actually made me cry
They say that it's scarier to not show the audience something. This is true in most cases, but with lost episode creepypastas, you kinda need to show it in order to be creepy, as the story on its own sounds really stupid. With the rise of analog horror in recent years, I wouldn't be surprised if more lost episode creepypasta's got this treatment.
Wait, I think the thing at the end was a teaser for some future episodes of the “Re-Take” series, as there’s a trailer for another installment
Damn, was not expecting the conversation to hit like that. 👍
What I think this Red Mist represents on the remaster, is far better than the original, because to me this seems to be a sinister presence, in the form of a mist, a phenomenon only a few can see coming, maybe only those who are misserable
And it waits, until some of your worst days in life come, to take you at your lowest, not really the moment you would decide to end it all, but just close enough for it to push you over the edge when you're most vulnerable, and make it seem to everyone that you just took your own life due to the unfortunate circumstances

But like you said, because they stayed positive it’s most likely they won’t be affected by the red mist and try to move on with their lives the best they can. I really do like how the red mist retake shows what suicide feels and what it looks like. To even showing how it affects them, it’s hauntingly accurate and beautiful. For the longest time i thought red mist was a way of saying mist of blood because squidwards blasted himself
red mist may be a reference to both blood _and_ to "red tides," an oceanic phenomenon involving blooms of algae and phytoplankton that turn waters red.
...such phenomena can kill sealife if left unchecked.
dunno if I missed it but I'm surprised he didn't mention the fact that RED MIST was so popular that nick actually included a reference to RED MIST in an *official* episode of spongebob
Squidward killing himself is VERY in character lol. He can't because it's a cartoon.
@@gvd72 “Squidward killing himself is very in character” is such a weird thing to say out of context 💀
Your implying that he only killed himself because of the horror he saw?
No it isn't, Squidward feels RAGE because of SpongeBob and Patrick's shenanigans while it has fallen into sadness territoy before. Those are specific situations. Squidward does more than just Clarinet Practice, he does Art. if people booed him, he'd be Sad, Sure. But he'd still have something else to live for. In fact, he's shown multiple times that he DOES like SpongeBob and Patrick deep down inside and that he'd go insane without them and Transform into them as a Coping mechanism.

Something that I thought about regarding the Scotfish, is that it perhaps is a metaphor for what is to come. From what I have seen, bagpipes are oftentimes played at funerals, and so with this, maybe its Squidward’s psyche foreshadowing his loss of sanity.

I’m sorry but I think my problem with stuff like this is that everything is shown or given a name. Like old red mist sucked I can admit it. But even other things like the backrooms were ruined because of this reason, people started giving new names for things and trying to explain an unexplainable force in attempt to make it scarier.
Say it louder for the people in the back.
