Brought back memories of my childhood, with one semi-correction I have to offer: The picture accompanying the "Lassie" theme showed the original cast (Tommy Rettig, Jan Clayton, George Cleveland), while the theme music was that used in the episodes with the third cast (Jon Provost, June Lockhart, Hugh Reilly). To the uninitiated, the second cast had Provost, but with Cloris Leachman and Jon Sheppod (sp?) as the parents.
Are you correct on all that? Cloris Leachman was on "Lassie"? OMG!! What was about the last thing she did? "Dancing with the Stars", a handful of years ago? "Frau Blucher!" ...... [horses heard in background] "Naaayyyy!! Naaaayyyyy!!".
I recognized some of these theme songs. I grew up in the '50s and '60s. Back then, at least in my household, we watched what our parents wanted to see. Some of these shows, I never had a chance to watch.
I was born in the 80`s, but used to stay watching old-school shows from the 50`s and 60`s, and 70`s. They were witty and funny, and reruns still come on till this day of most of them.
Back in '50's lucky you had an TV, it worked, and you got reception. had to work those "rabbit ears". No such thing as "re-runs". If you didn't watch it when it was broadcast, you were bleep out of luck. No VCRs or other taping means.
Growing up in New Zealand, we didn't have much choice. But, we doubled our channels in '75, with the introduction of TV2 Mystery surrounded, why TV's had dials with up to ten numbers?? Why would you need so many channels?
"You Bet Your Life" was hosted by Groucho Marx. The "You Bet Your Life" theme was based on the song "Hooray for Captain Spaulding," which came from the Marx Brothers' 1928 Broadway show (and 1930 film) "Animal Crackers." 🙂

I was born in 1953 in Europe and we didn't get a TV until 1964 (the very first in our street-B/W even). We had two national stations that got started in 1958, one in Flemish and one in French... In 1964 they bought series from America, I remember Lassie and the Lone Ranger in the early yers... and Peyton Place for the grown ups...Oh, and the Fugitive with David Janssen.... but that was about it... No wait, Zorro and Bonanza too...
Peter Gunn first aired from 1958 to 1961. I always thought it had one of the best themes for a tv show. I also liked the opening theme for the tv show Route 66 that was composed by Nelson Riddle.

"Peter Gunn", spent a lot of late nights over recent years watching that show. I think the entire show was filmed indoors on one stage. Seems like it was always nighttime.
I missed Jack Benny of all things. I always associated Benny with Love in Bloom. Still remembered the lyrics to Maverick and Paladin and the intro to Dragnet. My Dad bought our first TV in 1952 so that he could watch the Boston Celtics and Willie Mays. My mom parked me in front of the TV during the day while she cleaned house; I still remember the theme from Edge of Night.
I was born in '57. I nailed all but 3. I probably could've gotten all but Playhouse 90 (never watched it), but it made it much harder that more than half weren't the original theme song but only lame studio musician recreations. A lot of those ones I had to really listen to realize what it actually was supposed to be. And I'll bet that's why a lot of people didn't recognize as many as they would have if it had been the actual authentic song from the show. Every authentic theme I knew in the first 2 or 3 notes. What would be really fun is if someone put together one of these using the jingles from those old commercial we used to see over & over & over. Like all those cigarette commercials.... "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should...." or " Parliament...with the filter that's in...recessed in" or "You can take Salem out of the country BUT....You can't take the country out of Sa-lem".

I expected to do poorly on this as I was born in 1955, but dang if I didn't get every single one... that's kind of scary. Lassie & Captain Kangaroo (my favorite!)... sure do miss that simple, sweet sort of entertainment!
Story time!!!!! First off, I'm young...keep that in mind for this story to make sense. My Senior year, my band director decided to be the typical goof that he is and, when trying to move through a bunch of students in my band class, he decided to say "make room for daddy". My classmates were HORRIFIED. My band director looked at them blankly and asked them what was the matter. He stated that Make Room for Daddy was a TV show. I said "Z, I remember my mom mentioning that show before." "See!!!! I'm not so crazy after all. Jeez Abby! What am I gonna do when you graduate? You're the only one who knows my references!!!!" At the end of class he actually pulled up one of the episodes on TH-cam to show my classmates that neither of us were crazy.

'85 here. I think our parents just did a good job exposing us to good shit! I remember being the only kid in my kindergarten class who knew who "Lassie" was and begged for a collie cause of it.

Great! But now which was the BEST show and/or your FAVORITE show? I think "Gunsmoke" was on for 20 years!! "Honeymooners" was ONLY on for 1 season!! "Superman" was actually a pretty good show, production wise. The supporting cast was a bit "comical". I say that MY FAVORITE show is "Perry Mason".

Didn't get any of the Westerns. How I loved these old shows. I remember the Honeymooners but not that theme.I seem to remember it was shown as a skit as part of the Jackie Gleason show. Am I wrong?
Jackie later had a show on Tv after the original Honeymooners called American Scene Magazine from Florida, where he lived. He brought it back in like you remember. Sheila McCrae played his wife Alice, instead of Audrey Meadows. Art Carney returned as Norton. That was the show that also featured Joe the Bartender and Frankie Fontaine ( Hiya Joe, Hello Mr. Donahee ) and The June Taylor Dancers.
ok, not the best playing of the music. Ha ha ha ha!! I GUESSED "The Donna Reed Show" correctly!!! I figured she had to be in there. Oh the daughter is "what's her face" from "Coach".
What '60's TV show star (which I am going to assume is on the '60's version of this quiz), played for the Celtics?
We used to say, "Don't smoke 'em, Sail 'em."
Brings back all the memories, I watched all of them. I knew all of the answers too. Dose that tell you how old I'am??

Wait...during the 50s' my ass had to be in bed by 9pm.
Leave it to Beaver started at my bedtime, so my Mom used that as extortion to make me behave all day so I could stay up an extra 1/2 hour to watch itTreacherous army nurse. A lousy 1/2 hour for ALL day behavior. I shoulda called the cops for cruelty. LOL
Craig WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP AT THIS TIME TYPING MESSAGES ON TH-cam ?? !!! Get your ass into bed NOW !!! It's pass 9pm. DON'T LET ME SAY IT AGAIN !!!

9 I did not know at all.
Well done. I enjoyed it.
👍🙂‼️
Born 62, I think most of us would only remember Captain Kangaroo or Lassie since we were so young then. Most of the shows I remembee were in the 60s
Gosh we watched a lot of westerns
I was too young for some and I was never into westerns. But they were wonderful themes anyway!
Wow no Amos and Andy, or Nat King Cole Show!!
The Captain Kangaroo theme's official name is Puffing Billy. It was originally used on a BBC radio children's show.
On Apple computers there is a voice called “Pipe Organ” and when it speak it speaks in the tune of the Alfred Hitchcock Presents theme
These were harder than 60s and 70s. (b. 57) Had to pause for some, and still didn't know a few of them. But I do love these vids.
1, I love Lucy

did not do very well, but i loved hearing the music again. oh the memories!
Only got 12 right but hey that is good for being it was before my time by quite a bit.
I got 10 right.
If my parents didn't watch the show we didn't watch the show so there's several shows on there I had no idea.
I missed Texaco and Playhouse 90.
Me too. Never 90, Texaco theater I had but not Star, so a miss. I’m a hard grader.
08:00 Dude never should have pissed off Sheriff Clootie and The Stone Witch
Born in 64’ I knew about 3/4 of these show.
Seeing these videos has made me realize how inundated that time period was with Western/Cowboy themed shows. Seemed very monotonous to me.
Schelle7000 You're a girl, aren't you?? lol - I was a tomboy - got myself a toy revolver and cowboy hat and played "cowboys and Indians"! Fun!!
Peter gun still a bad ass song!!!!!
I missed 10. Knew some of them by memory but couldn't pull the name out quickly enough. Fun quiz.
Kept waiting for the Loretta Young Show theme song.
I only knew of few of these since I was born in the late 60's, but still very cool.
Steve Reeves! The best Superman ever!
I really wonder what happened to him they say it was suicide but extremely questionable
I think his name was George Reeves
I expected to do poorly on this as I was born in 1955, but dang if I didn't get every single one... that's kind of scary. Lassie & Captain Kangaroo (my favorite!)... sure do miss that simple, sweet sort of entertainment!
"Mr. Rogers"; "Major Mudd"; "Rex Trailer and Boomtown".
Abigale Kalal Haha that’s funny! :D
Funny, but he's got to learn some sense...
HOW YOUNG ARE YOU!!!?
Now Ads for the Hospital Danny Thomas started are on TV ALL THE TIME!!! Some times his daughter comes on, looking for donations.
@@aspenrebel right now, 23. My parents had me later than usual.....mom was in her 40s when I was born.
I grew up watching reruns of shows from the 50s through the 70s. And hearing my folks reference other shows that weren't airing as reruns yet.
I've got I Love Lucy and Leave it to Beaver correct, I was expecting the Rifleman and Dennis the Menace but oh well.
Every Saturday had to see.
I cannot believe I did better on the 50’s at 17-13 than I did on the 80’s when I was born in 1956😵! Those childhood memories ❤️
"Good Morning, Captain!"
I didn't know Captain Kangaroo had been around that long. I'd started watching that in 74 when I was in Kindergarten.
I literally shrieked when I heard Lassie and I Love Lucy. I was born in 2004 lmao.
same...and 2004? really? me too.
2003 here
How did I know most of these? I was born in 86 😂🤣🤣🤣
'85 here. I think our parents just did a good job exposing us to good shit! I remember being the only kid in my kindergarten class who knew who "Lassie" was and begged for a collie cause of it.
musicalkisses Love ummm........you don't have a life?
@@dougboggio7098- Ummmm, can you NOT be a "Doug" right now.
Harbird Boo many pardons.......it was not my intention to offend, just a curious thought on my part
Because you were killed in Vietnam, and reborn in the 80s.
They had some catchy theme tunes in usa i n 50s only 3 heared of if lucy and lone ranger lassie
The Lone Ranger theme is actually an exerpt from Rossini s William Tell Overture
Long gone 50's 60's the golden age of television.
In order: I Love Lucy, Lassie, Gunsmoke, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, Dragnet, Perry Mason, The Donna Reed Show, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Lone Ranger, The Honeymooners, Texaco Star Theatre, American Bandstand, Have Gun, Will Travel, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Maverick, Superman, Wagon Train, Make Room for Daddy, Wyatt Earp, You Bet Your Life, The Burns and Allen Show, The Jack Benny Program, Captain Kangaroo, The Mickey Mouse Club, Highway Patrol, Playhouse 90, Our Miss Brooks, Peter Gunn. My pleasure. I was born in 1954 and I only missed 2, Did pretty well on the rest.
F off point killer.
This is a guessing game. How about NOT posting the answers and ruining people's fun.
How about the theme to Ben Casey! ☺️ Oh, and the Jackie Gleason variety show! 😀

I do remember some of those shows but didn't watch them as re runs just remember the titles.
I got 9. Missed 21
Many of these shows had their theme songs re done between seasons.
Does anyone else think that the theme for Make Room for Daddy (07:38) is just a faster jazzier version of Oh Danny Boy? I'm from UK, born in the 60's, so while I did ok on most of the 70's and 80's shows, a lot of the 50's and 60's ones I've never heard of.
MissTeeFy Make Room for Daddy was also called “The Danny Thomas Show.”
@@songtrivia ah, that would be the Danny connection then. Don't think it ever aired here though, or if it did I was too young to see it.
OMG!! "Captain Kangaroo". That was about a million years ago!!!
I hardly ever watched any of these shows so I hardly got any of these.
Clearly the 50’s wasn’t my decade...
I knew:
I Love Lucy
Leave it to Beaver

Lucy and Superman... I recognized the names instead of the songs.
Yes
Didn't get any of the Westerns. How I loved these old shows. I remember the Honeymooners but not that theme.I seem to remember it was shown as a skit as part of the Jackie Gleason show. Am I wrong?
carol Lund It was ORIGINALLY it's OWN series...
@@splenderella9no
Only western I got was gunsmoke and that was a complete guess since I haven't seen it. Interested though
@@voodoo49 I remember watching it on our huge black and white with the family on Saturday nights I think.
ok, not the best playing of the music. Ha ha ha ha!! I GUESSED "The Donna Reed Show" correctly!!! I figured she had to be in there. Oh the daughter is "what's her face" from "Coach". She married Mike Farrell who played "B.J. Hunnicut" on "MASH". Shelley Fabares, right? She was also on "One Day At A Time" for awhile.
Thank goodness for ME TV!
Loocy I’m home!
Got about 80% .....not bad for a family who didn’t have a TV back in the 50-60’s 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
