These videos unlocked a part of my brain that laid dormant for 30 years. Some shows I got right away, others I clearly remember the theme song and can visualize the show but can't remember the title and others I knew I have heard the song and can tell right away that I never watched the show with any regularity.
The funny part is, I watched virtually none of these shows, but I still remember every theme song. I watched a few 1-hours shows such as ATeam and Magnum. But most, I didn't watch. Yet, I'm hauntingly still familiar with all the themes.
Amazing how many you get in the first 2 or 3 seconds, and the wave of nostalgia comes on like the sea and makes you want to go back to a way of life in which you're watching all these shows again.
I feel sad. I was so young when some of these shows would come on. I can still hear my mom screaming at me to go to bed! Especially hearing Moon Lightning. R.I.P Al Jarreau!
I LOVED Kate and Allie! I have very fond memories of watching it with my now late mom. Thank you for this stroll down memory lane! Cagney and Lacey was her favorite!
I've hear the Star Trek theme many times I didn't even recognize it. The 80s were optimistic times, when a young empire thought it was invincible and did not know what the future holds.
Wow, I can't believe how many different shows were in the 80's! I did pretty good in part 1, but I totally sucked at this one. Too many shows for my brain to process. Thanks for the great memories
Right there with you. Only got like 5 of them. Air wolf /the greatest American hero/ Star Trek the next generation/ Charles in charge/ and Simon and Simon 😂
I was 15 in 1984 ..... great music, tv shows, movies, so many fond memories. Remember going to see the Goonies, Aliens, all those great movies, all the New Wave music which was awesome. I had a Swatch like everyone else. I remember watching Miami Vice for the first time and I was blown away. Cheers, The Greatest American Hero, Automan. I wouldn't change me being alive in the 80's for anything. It's such a big part of my life.
Absolutely, and using the original TV intros instead of the slightly different ones from soundtracks - if released at all - is just the icing on the 80s cake. :) THANK YOU
These were great ones! I was waiting for Fame theme's song to come up somewhere in there! Also, someone commented about cartoon theme songs, and the 1st 2 that come to mind is The Smurfs and Inspector Gadget! However, thanks for this! Took me back to those days!
Here in the UK we didn't get all of those shows so I didn't know some of them but ones I do remember that you might want to add in any future editions include... Street Hawk, Midnight Caller, Hill Street Blues, Quantum Leap and Doogie Howser M.D. Great videos though, a real nostalgia trip :)
I remember that my elementary school teacher could play that song on his acoustic guitar that he'd bring to class sometimes because I think he took lessons after school. He ended up making a record that I think I still might have in my collection of yearbooks and stuff. By the way, his name was Bill Linderman.
I had both the single and album with The Greatest American Hero theme song. I loved it from the beginning and Joey Scarbury did an excellent job writing and performing the song!
@@MrBacchus18 Actually it did come with the instructions to the use of the suit. If you remember he took the suit out of the box in the debut episode and dropped the instructions when he walked to his house holding them in his hands. Oops!😄
Is it sad that I know ALL of these theme songs, yet I wouldn't know a single theme song to a current prime time show?? I guess we were all a captive audience! Great quiz!
No it's not, the Cultural Marxism kicked into high gear in the 90s and today's TV shows are a wasteland filled with negative stereotypes compared to the 80s.
Im sure in 40 years you'll remember the theme to Stranger Things, due to its quantum entanglement with the 80s in that way, but most shows now can't even afford to spend a few seconds on a jingle or tune let alone a full blown story-telling theme song without losing a significant percentage of time. Too bad too because often, the tune at the start also helped to "prime" us watchers for the next 30 or 60 minutes, Hill Street Blues theme got you to prepare for some dramatic, sad and serious events; Airwolf, Matt Houston, Hunter got you to start preparing adrenaline for their action-packed scenes; etc - it was a moment to help you transition yourself to get in the mindset for the show, music and themes triggering base brain reactions. The more unique and instantaneous the music kicked up associations with the show (ie everyone can identify Knight Rider within 1/30th of a second, macguyver within 1/10th of a second, etc) the better job it did to just help activate our brains to prepare for the next hour :)
@@boomod3825 I won't remember it because I don't even remember it now, even after watching the first 2 seasons until it burned out, because if I survive, I'll be in my 90s! ;) Most kids who actually grew up in the 80s know Stranger Things is a lot of anachronistic poser crap that just tried desperately to jump on the 80s nostalgia train. They should've gotten people who actually grew up during the 80s to consult at the very least. Embarrassing how they messed up the music to such an noticeably off-putting degree. There are plenty of other TV shows that have been amazing in the last 10 years that I WILL remember, however, well into old age. Stranger Things will not be one of them.

Aw .. no The Littlest Hobo again. Granted it started at the end of 79. But went to 85. I'd consider that 80s. "Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down. Until tomorrow I'll just keep moving on...." Love that theme song.

Great one, I didn't realize how many shows there were in the 80s. And I did know more of this list than of the first one. (And am still missing a few, like Mischiefs of Science, Secret Identity or Hogans Heroes.)
I used to walk home for lunch in highschool. Matlock came on at noon. Listening to that music absolutely took me back to over-due homeworks, studying for tests - my god.
Love this guys. Do more 80’s. Loved Airwolf when I was 11 and still love and watch it today. Wish there was more seasons of Benson out too. Only missed 3 and felt dumb when I realized what they were.
This part came up first in my suggested videos feed. Watched it and thought "Wow, that was harder than I thought it'd be!". Then want and watched part 1. Yeah, with those it was all "I can name that show in one note!". Enjoyed this vid!
This Part 2 was harder. I didn't watch the ones I didn't recognize. Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless were so gorgeous! And Moonlighting was a full-on phenomenon! Such happy and fond memories.
I'm going to type out my answers as I go along: 1) Alf!, 2) Don't Know, 3) Punky Brewster (my favorite sitcom as a kid as I felt I could really relate to Punky), 4) Benson, 5) Don't Know, 6) Don't Know, 7) Don't Know, 8) Don't Know, 9) Recognize the song but unsure of the show, 10) Don't Know, 11) Don't Know, 12) The Greatest American Hero! Would you believe it? When I heard those words " it was murder ", (6:26) followed by that theme tune, wow, instant recognition and all the emotions of excitement that came with watching 'Hart to Hart' Christ, even the dog bark flooded me with nostalgia. I just can't get over how much exciting TV there was when I was a kid. It's only now I'm really starting to appreciate it on a much deeper level and trying to find episodes of the old stuff; so much wholesome nostalgia.
Thanks for this blast from the past! 80s shows you missed in both videos (although I don't blame you, some were only one season): Voyagers!, Cover Up, Chips, Otherworld.
Loved it!! 60s were my early yrs, I got maybe 2 right…. but cool to see some shows I really enjoyed in the crazy 8s, peace, love harmony and shower daily. Thank you ALL!
Heard The Fall Guy in this set - definitely more challenging. Some shows I had not even heard of ( l think it was Ernest Borgnine on the cover). Thanks again!
A little trivia. Hunter, 21 Jump St and Hardcastle and McCormack all had themes composed by a certain Mike Post and Pete Carpenter. And The Greatest American Hero as well.
I was up to one song as I scrolled through the comments and didn't remember what it was. I came across your comment and was like 21 Jump Street! And it was.

A trivia. The old man from Punky Brewster. George Gaynes, costarred from 1984 to 1989 in the Police Academy films as Commandant Lesard.
And lived till his late 90s.
That is an understatement he was the one that made the police academy movies what it was

he did Police Academy first, then Punky debuted, and for the rest of the decade kept pumping out Police Academy movies and the show kept on too.

I used to walk home for lunch in highschool. Matlock came on at noon. Listening to that music absolutely took me back to over-due homeworks, studying for tests - my god.
Must have been reruns, because Matlock was a prime time show on NBC.
I remember watching 21 Jump Street and falling in love with Johnny Depp, who knew he would go so far?
This Part 2 was harder. I didn't watch the ones I didn't recognize. Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless were so gorgeous! And Moonlighting was a full-on phenomenon! Such happy and fond memories.
Moonlighting was so good. The bruce willis and cybill shepherd dynamic was the best.
Ironically, I actually had more songs that I recognized.
I'm going to type out my answers as I go along:
1) Alf!, 2) Don't Know, 3) Punky Brewster (my favorite sitcom as a kid as I felt I could really relate to Punky), 4) Benson, 5) Don't Know, 6) Don't Know, 7) Don't Know, 8) Don't Know, 9) Recognize the song but unsure of the show, 10) Don't Know, 11) Don't Know, 12) The Greatest American Hero! (another one of my favorites as a kid), 13) Don't Know, 14)Matlock, 15) Recognize the song but unsure of the show, 16) Don't Know, 17) Who's The Boss "Samantha!", lol, 18) Night Court, 19) Don't Know, 20) Recognize the song but unsure, 21) Charles In Charge, 22) Recognize the song but unsure, 23) Mama's Family!, 24) Mr. Belvedere! (another of my favorites), 25) Small Wonder! (another one of my favorites--it's pretty obvious that I was a young kid in the 80s since I mostly know that shows that appealed to kids), 26) Don't Know, 27) The Song Is Really Familiar But I'm Unsure, 28) Don't Know, 29) Don't Know, 30) 21 Jump Street, 31) Don't Know, 32) Don't Know, 33) Webster, 34) Don't Know but I recognize that voice as Roberta Flack's), 35) Don't Know, 36) Gimme A Break!
That was a really well created video. I greatly enjoyed playing along despite being stumped by a few of them.
That was an awesome blast from the past!! Thank you! My sister is going to love this!!
I sent it mine too😍
Do one for Saturday Morning Shows of the 70s through the 90s for guessing the theme songs of each decade such as:
70s: Scooby-Doo, The Superfriends, H.R. Pufnstuff, and Land of the Lost.
80s: The Smurfs, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and Muppet Babies.
90s: Batman: The Animated Series, X-Men: The Animated Series, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and The Tick.
Yooooo this took me back Man and Enjoyed Every last 15:06 seconds of it .. if Your still around from the 80z .. We're The Dopest Creations on The Planet ...
You New Ishez are Nothing but Clones .. and Expendables 💪🏾❤️😉
Would you believe it?
When I heard those words " it was murder ", (6:26) followed by that theme tune, wow, instant recognition and all the emotions of excitement that came with watching 'Hart to Hart'
Christ, even the dog bark flooded me with nostalgia. I just can't get over how much exciting TV there was when I was a kid. It's only now I'm really starting to appreciate it on a much deeper level and trying to find episodes of the old stuff; so much wholesome nostalgia.
Freeway the dog ..max and his cigar!
It was MUYDAH!
My Two Dads was way before it’s time..lol
If it was made today, the dads would probably be a gay couple.
Only needed the sound of the engine to get Hardcastle and McCormack. lol Overall I only got 5 correct. Great fun playing along, thanks.
This was wonderful! What a fantastic throwback for me. Please please please keep making these!
My life passing by...

I'm teary listening to these TV themes.. brings back soooo many memories
Wow, the memories. Thanks for doing this. Loved it.
Oh my goodness we had the BEST shows in the 80s!
Love this!! We need part 3.....
MASH, Riptide, Fantasy Island, CHiPs.....gotta have those!
How about the 70s theme song part 2?
Thanks for this blast from the past! 80s shows you missed in both videos (although I don't blame you, some were only one season): Voyagers!, Cover Up, Chips, Otherworld.
Out of all these shows, I watched Moonlighting the most.
Loved it!! 60s were my early yrs, I got maybe 2 right…. but cool to see some shows I really enjoyed in the crazy 8s, peace, love harmony and shower daily. Thank you ALL!
Where's Scarecrow and Mrs King? Great 80s show.
Ditto Tour Of Duty
So much women empowerment in the 80s, as well as actual Family Shows, ah, the days 💙🧡
Heard The Fall Guy in this set - definitely more challenging. Some shows I had not even heard of ( l think it was Ernest Borgnine on the cover). Thanks again!
This recovering couch potato is batting pretty well here.
I love these! THANK U!
I didn’t know that one of Billy Joel’s songs was used as a theme song for a tv show!
Yep
Mama's Family Is My Show To This Day #2019 #timeless
Mine too along with Golden Girls!
@@GrandTime-17 Oh yes The Golden Girls is hilarious😁🤗
Yes
@@GrandTime-17 Golden Girls is great. They made a sequel called Golden Palace that has Cheech Marin in it.
The human brain amazes me...I recognized the Matlock theme song even though I’ve never seen an episode. Was born in 1981. 🤯
Thank you for the stroll down memory lane! Both parts were great!!
Take me back to the 80s.
Thanks for the videos
I thank you again for posting this! We watched most, not all, of these shows back in the day, but I remember all of them. It's fun trying to guess!
6:20 My mother loved Cagney and Lacey!
My mom did too
A little trivia.
And it was.
Man i miss my 80s shows. I remember watching head of the class and missing Johnny Fever. Matlock and his chilli dogs. Miss Colt and Michael. Good old days.
Very Nice ! Some of these tunes are down right super cheesy and a few are good enough to be top 40 hits .
ALL are quite unique . thanks for compiling and uploading .
