  • Hey guys! This is just a quick video today on how I've started to store my camera equipment in an inexpensive way. :)
And yes, I'm aware that my lenses are missing lens caps, I really need to order some more! I am seriously the worst for losing them, is anyone else like that!??

your video is NOT lame at all, in fact it is a problem that everyone has, especially in regard to expensive camera equipment. your solution is genuine and it makes sure you have everything you need in one place. however, please at least use pouches for your expensive lenses, and put a piece of foam under and around your camera. maybe wrap around the whole container and on the door. one drop...and you may have damaged equipment. Good clip. thanks for sharing your experience. ... Also, look up the SRA cases on Amazon. They are very cheap and they are much safer....

This is not a boring video at all. As I accumulated camera gear, my office is becoming a mess. I missed out on a video opportunity because I couldn't find my joby cell phone mount under piles of gear. Your video is second in search results so congrats. Next time please include Amazon links of what you're using in the description so you can get credit for your helpfulness

Hello Kayleigh, thanks for this video. I'm undergoing a similar DIY equipment organizing project. However, I'm having a hard time finding low coast padded dividers. I'm hoping you have a suggestion to find dividers like the ones you're using. I’m in the U.S. and searching for padded dividers on Amazon, eBay and Ikea keeps finding me expensive Pelican dividers or nothing at all. Thanks, keep up the inspiring work.

Always use packs of dessecent in storage box. It will absorb any moisture

Australia is a pretty dry place (I am in South Australia which is very dry) but I was wondering if you need to place any slica gel packets in with your gear to prevent fungus growing on the lenses esp. in more tropical climates?

Yes! I've definitely head of photographers doing this, especially within humid climates. I live in a fairly dry area as well, (Melbourne), but I guess it wouldn't hurt to do it!

I suggest get a hard case for all of your sensitive equipment's (lenses and camera body and batteries as well as filters) it'll be waterproof and sturdy for you to store your gears and for you to take it along with ease and have not to worry about anything as long as they're in there.. If you plan to bring along that huge plastic container with all your stuff in it and drop it, it will be a very big mess plus your equipments may be damaged as you have to carry them all back home without the plastic box since It broke or got damaged. There's a lot of cases with wheels online, they are great storage for your equipments at home and if you have to travel...

Andrew Embestro A lot of professional hard cases whilst waterproof can be very expensive. I chose this option mainly for storing at home because it was handy and inexpensive, the box is very well sealed though I doubt that I'd be taking this on any location shoots anyway.
At this point it wouldn't really make much sense to spend more on a waterproof hard case when this essentially serves the same purpose.

You don't really need the professional grade hardcases, You could actually get cheap one that does the same job and is as rugged as a high end one, there is a lot of generic brand that is actually great and very cheap and reliable.. I got mine for like $30. I can send you photos in your facebook just to show you what kind of quality it has for a very cheap price, and I also have a plastic box but more rugged and very cheap as well, I just want to share this to you because I'm also obsessed with storage like you are and having expensive gears well just make you want to invest more on storage just to keep them safe and dry and free of fungus and dust as well as keeping them safe wherever you put them and not thinking that they could get damaged or what not. Anyways that worked for me and may not work for you as we have different spaces but hey it was nice sharing though :)

Ooh $30 is reasonable! If you could possibly link to where you bought it/ to pictures that could definitely be helpful for other people trying to find some storage options!

Definitely not a lame video. I'm a neat freak like this as well. I have several camera bags that I use for storage. I gathered so much gear the last few years I had to dedicate one of my closets to my gear. lol. But Great video and advice! I subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos.
