I agree with you 100% Zach thanks for the honest review. Was going to buy it but after hearing what Nintendo's been doing to the game I'm gonna pass on it for now.
@@brianumphreyville2204 What would make you (and Kevin) feel the game is worth 60 dollars? More importantly, how many $60 games do you believe are actually worth that amount? As it stands, I only sense entitlement from both of you.
Thank you for keeping the reviews honest, even when that means railing on things you love. If DLC added “more of the game” and charge for it ... that would be disgusting.
@@larniieplayz6285 what I mean is that it would be bad to sell a full price cut down game then charge again to put features in that should be there now :)
@@dogg-paws I am old fashioned in that regard lol so yes. IF they were to release the rest of the features as FREE dlc then I would say fair play, if they charge tho (which was original comment) then I think it's out of line.
And, another sad thing about this is that this is the only first party big Nintendo game coming out this summer before Splatoon 3, that isn’t a JRPG. I don’t like JRPGs. Sure, I have Fall Guys in a few days and Cuphead in a couple weeks, but, as far as first party content, what are me and a whole bunch of Nintendo fans that don’t like JRPGs supposed to do?
@@squidsurge71 wait for the direct but at the very least bayonetta is coming out and I’m sure a surprise announcement for myself I’m a huge xenoblade fan
I'm mainly pissed that I can't play on my same team as my friends online in Mario Strikers. It's either 2v1 or 2v2. Why can't we all be on the same team against the AI or other online players?
I didn’t get strikers because golf super rush felt way too bare bones as well. The story mode was kind of doodoo. I had a feeling strikers would be a let down.
I mean any sports game with a story is bound to suck Personally, super rush still looks fun ill get it eventually Striker’s got cups which is a lot better
This game just came out why are you bashing it when it s barely scratched the surface the strikers on gamecube and the wii didnt have dlc either 🤷♂️ I'm still getting strikers
I was never super excited for this game, but it’s so sad to see a game that others were excited for turn out like this. I really hope they add dlc for a single-player campaign, or even through a free update. Not cool Nintendo. On the other hand though, Splatoon is similar to it in the way of more online focused gameplay. I think it could be really great to get good at it, but I agree they should have added more.
I hate nintendo for this. They're gonna ignore what's going on and think it sold poorly due to it being a flawed franchise and they'll never make another strikers game again
I mean is anyone surprised? Lots of people ( including myself) got tricked with Mario tennis and they've been doing this since Splatoon 1 so they're not gonna change.
I went from super excited to play to done playing for the rest of my life in the span of like 4 hours. Halfway through the 3rd Galactic cup I realized there was nothing left for me to do after I got used to Galactic's difficulty spike and I just... stopped playing. I can't believe I spent 60 dollars on that. What the hell...
I'm waiting to pick up Strikers _after_ the first DLC updates with more characters/content. I have a feeling a lot of other people are doing the same...
I agree with pretty much everything you said, on one hand the gameplay is solid and actually really fun, on the other hand the content feels like buying a buffet, then realizing that the only food left is the salad bar… ill probably continue to play it because it really is a fun game, but it’s not gonna last with the current amount of content
Totally agree. Not as excited as i should be for a Mario game and a soccer game at that, but the lack of content makes this a 40 dollar game at best or a game to bundle with a buy 2 get 1 free at target or something.
I agree with everything. Nintendo NEEDS to understand that this “philosophy” they have is ultimately HURTING THEIR F$&@ING SALES!!! I love Battle League, it’s my first Strikers game, but it needs more. I know it will get more, but Nintendo really needs to change how they develop games! We need to somehow communicate with them that THEY NEED TO STOP THIS!!!
Nintendo is getting greedier and greedier with the coming time... Sadly, they were going out of the way to make it harder to play their games without paying for their totally overpriced Online service. This is why no one talked about Switch Sports nearly a week after its release because there was little content to enjoy, and some of the stuff that should have worked out of the box didn't. The game mostly requires you to be online in order to be playable, since most of the content is gatekeept behind that 20 (or more depending) dollar paywall. I also think that the NES, SNES, Genisis and N64 online is far worse than what they used to offer as well. I understand that the Virtual Console experience was expensive, but at least you paid for it once and kept your games to play instead of paying a monthly/yearly fee for it. I wished Nintendo was fairer with their users and fans by letting us bring over what we paid for for the Switch instead of relentlessly going after pirates like they so thoroughly do. They could broker more deals to those who pay for the NSO as well, giving out some select free games from the older library and offering discounts of up to 75%. That way they could make some serious bankroll and offer services to the people who would choose not to pay for the NSO. I wished that Nintendo Switch Sports was better too. That game could have just been a port of Wii Sports Resort and it would have sold well. We can all agree that Wuhu Island has more personality than Spocco Square. You can also add to this argument that the original Wii Sports was better than Switch Sports, since it had boxing, golf (which was right out of the box and not an update), and included some mini-challenges that came with each sport. The only sport in Switch Sports that event comes with a mini-challenge type game is bowling, but one is behind a paywall for NSO and the other is just for testing accuracy and control. Switch sports is completely underbaked, slapped together, and rushed out the door with the only intention being of selling some more NSO accounts. It's a scummy move that you would see Activision or EA pulling. Now this, Maro Strikers: Battle League, coming out practically the same way. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if this game was meant to get people to buy into NSO even more. I don't get why this is the game that got everyone to draw the line with the modern Nintendo, but I'm still happy that this is finally happening. Nintendo has gotten scummier with their practice since the second year of Switch with half-baked ideas that look fun but aren't due to handicaps. I wish that there was more to experience with some of these games, some offline challenge modes for people who don't want/can't afford NSO. As a Nintendo fan, I'm sad to see that they are going in this direction. With everything that they are doing, I canceled my NSO (I did this as soon as a learned the price of the Expansion Pass). I do think that they can get better with their content, but they need a slap in the face before that happens, and the best and only way to do that is through our wallets. The lack of sales for MS:BL is a good start, but I really think that people need to stop paying for the NSO which would put Nintendo in a position to listen.
This was something I was scared about when the character roster was first announced. I think it makes sense that its so small. Characters in this day and age take more time to create, especially in a game with such depth for said characters in their abilities, models, and animations. So it was obvious from that point that nlg was rushed by nintendo’s launch schedule and was forced to make sacrifices and include only the most necessary content to get it out by the time the higher-ups demanded. NLG isnt actually nintendo. They are a group of nintendo fans that nintendo has make nintendo games, so its obvious that they would have gone all out and included all kinds of awesome ideas to fit their vision of the ultimate mario strikers experience. As we can quite easily see, that did not happen. These developers were obviously on an extremely tight schedule to push out a game and had to make tons of sacrifices for the sake of creating a playable game in time.
@@100toonlink u dumb, strikers charged had 20 characters and 17 maps, even more items, characters were more unique, the maps had their own perks and the music was so good and there wasn't like only one track. So what u talking about???
They did the same thing with the first Splatoon and it was successful. It didn't have comp, or single player, or like half the weapons and maps. They thought they could do it again
At 9:51 I agree with you. I hate delays, but if it means a more developed game. I actually like that splatoon got delay until September, which means more development time. Heck, I’m even kinda disappointed to get an actual release date.
I hesitantly bought the game knowing it might be lack luster. Plays great but I do feel like I have way over paid for the game since they still charged top dollar. I don't regret buying it but I am really hoping they add a LOT of free DLC and soon.
Strikers was on my “must have” list immediately after its reveal earlier this year. Even after the demo, which presented a steep learning curve (for me, anyway) and lackluster customizations, I thought to myself “no problem, I’ll enjoy the single player rpg content and master my skills… still want the game!” But when the reviews came out with reports of basically NO single player rpg content, I decided it was no longer worth $60. Not even $20. It’s a < $10 online minigame. Unless free dlc includes something substantially different to redeem its barebones release, Strikers will continue to be on my sh*t list too. Dropped the ball on this one, Nintendo!
Nintendo threw next level games under the bus with this one, they hung next level games out to dry the way they pushed Mario Strikers Battle League out the door like this. Id expect this level of behavior from crappy and well known mobile game developers, not Nintendo. So unless there is some sort of 80-90% here you go July patch down the pipe. I a first timer to the Strikers line of video games will be spending that $60+tax on something else in the switch library. Cause I do not pay $60+ tax for free to play games that I hope get finished later down the line. And I hate to say it but I hope the minds behind the idea of releasing Strikers in this state, find there way to the unemployment line. Cause again they done everyone dirty by doing this. Other then that I hope you all have an grate rest of your day.
@@dogg-paws 1. That depends on the game, so in case of an sports game. Nintendo as a company, as a whole needs a massive reboot. So many mistakes and they have such good design teams. They mess up more than they succeed currently. Shame!!
@@dogg-paws It's easy to get sales from the games they make. They could easily increase their revenue by alot more if they actually listened to their fans but they don't. For a company that loves money, they sure hate making more money. 🤦🏻♂️
@@ZamWeazle honestly after Iwata passed away Nintendo wasn’t the same anymore. I’d bet he’s looking down at the current state of the company with disappointment on his face.
Much more likely is Nintendo writing Strikers off as "a series people don't want or care about because the game we put out for you to prove otherwise didn't sell good"
Dude I really appreciate how much you LOVE Nintendo. I’m also really grateful for TH-cam existing and you having the tenacity to be on it and make a great channel about what we love. EVEN IF THEY’RE BEING TOTAL ASSHATS!!!
It feels like the only community they haven't wronged yet is the Zelda fans. The only thing you could say they did wrong was the small 35th anniversary But at the same time who tf celebrates 35 like it's their 18th/21st (depending on where you live, sorry Americans you gotta wait a bit for the good stuff)
I think the Mario 35th anniversary thing was originally just meant as promotion for Nintendo World’s opening and Mario at the Tokyo Olympics. But when both of those were cancelled due to Covid they just changed it to “Mario’s 35th anniversary” because it just happened to be that year.
Agreed, 35th seems like an insignificant number, I think Zelda fans were only disappointed in comparison to Mario since they seemed to make a big deal of Mario's 35th. If they didn't do the Mario stuff there probably wouldn't be complaints.
Yeah man, the past year or so it’s just been disappointment after disappointment from Nintendo. They released an online service with next to nothing on it, and what little it did have barely f**king worked until months and months later. They straight-up jilted their only IP that possesses any depth by pointedly ignoring Zelda’s 35th entirely. They’ve released port after port that run about as well as an Etch-a-Sketch during an earthquake. They’ve either just stopped trying, or they’re intentionally scamming us. So, my last hope will be the BOTW sequel; if it becomes apparent that they half-assed the whole thing like damn-near everything else they’ve botched lately, that will be the last dollar they get from me.
Great game , no content seems to be the formula of the last 5 years of games though. I too like the game and was super hyped for it but like everyone super disappointed about what they've done.
I understand people wanting more content out of this, especially as the third game in the series, but Strikers has NEVER had lots of modes or a real si gle player campaign. The roster is inexcusable at this point, I'm not a fat of their model one bit. But the gameplay is stellar, and that's always been the core of Strikers.
@@100toonlink I hadn't even thought about that, but you're 100% right. So this game is even more in line with previous titles than I thought! Daisy should be in the game though. Waluigi is my boy, but Daisy is my girl.
Yes I’m mad! I’m mad it took 2:30 minutes to get to the point!!! Okay, too dramatic, still. I don’t mind the theatrics. It just took a long time to get there. I have cat videos to attend to after all.
Nintendo *_ABSOLUTELY_*_ _*_*NEEDS*_* to learn there that slowly drip-feeding content for video games and releasing unfinished video games is just *_NOT OKAY_* there!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😤😤😤😤😤👎👎👎👎👎
I agree with everything you are saying. I was so hyped getting to play the game and when I got it, I just couldn’t believe what I was playing. With the controls already being totally different, the limited amount of gameplay was such a let down. I was gonna push through everything because I remember how much fun I had playing the old game. However, I can’t say I have the same enjoyment and for this game to be $60 was not worth it. I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who was upset, but I’m glad I’m not the only one. This could have been a really great game! Thank you for telling the story of how we all feel.
I don't understand why we have to accept "unfinished" games. If you make a good game, and release the complete game, people are going to play it for as long as they're going to play it. Hopefully they'll come back to it if it's fun enough, especially with multiplayer. That's what people used to do -- release the whole game and hope for the best. What really is the benefit of stringing people along with DLC, free or otherwise? People were desperate for more Animal Crossing content, I think, because a) we were in a pandemic and people wanted an escape like that, b) they had a mobile game where they proved they could regularly release new content, and c) they promised they were going to give some! But in the past, Animal Crossing on the Gamecube didn't get DLC, but I still put in hundreds of hours. But that was Animal Crossing. I don't think people should need DLC to string them along if a game is good. Release the full game, let people feel good about their purchase, and if you want to make additional DLC later to sell, that's fine! If people really liked your original game, hopefully they'll come back for it!
You know Nintendo messed up when Zach is cursing. If I’m Nintendo I’m SCRAMBLING to do damage control to prevent an incident like this video from ever happening again. Please Nintendo, don’t mess with SwitchForce because it might just be the end of any good will you have left
I think there are many other games that have the same problem of being overpriced but too many (or too diehard) fans for people to ever admit it's not worth $60. There are many games that fit this, but there's a really good example that I know a lot of people agree with me on. For example: Pokemon Arceus. This is a controversial one but hear me out, now that the hype has died down I think this is a healthy conversation to have. I know pokemon fans are a little hard to talk to about problems though, so I'm really gonna need you to just listen and actually think about it. It's not a bad game, just worth closer to $40. Pokemon legends Arceus features some of the worst graphics of any mainline game of any series in the last 5 years, I don't think it's necessarily terrible, but just not up to standards. And the story for each area is what bugs me the most, the gameplay loop is the exact same for all 5 areas. And anyway, 5 areas is not even close to what we should expect. Go somewhere, defeat a miniboss, use the miniboss to get somewhere else, beat final boss of area, go to the next area. Literally the same in all of them. And I feel like the pokemon you obtain from the miniboss battle are also poorly designed. You never really use half of them and even when you do it's only in very small specific places. And then post game, you get an item, find a pokemon, catch it, get another item, rinse and repeat. And not to mention, the game is a buggy and glitchy mess of missing hitboxes and no clips. There are literally areas in the game where you can just straight up throw your pokemon inside of a rock or wall. You can get out of bounds with almost no effort. It's just sad. Again, I'm not saying the game is terrible, but just that the pokemon community really needs to set higher standards. The reason why the pokemon games have statistically been on a drastic downfall for years is that the fans won't say anything when they get an obviously rushed or bad product. The reason why sonic was made to be a better movie was because people were blunt and just said "that's not good enough we expect better". But when the pokemon community sees a trailer with terrible graphics, they don't go "please make it better we expect it to be better". Instead all the pokemon fans say "we hope it gets better' or just flat out refuses to admit that it looks bad. Every billionaire gaming company should be held to the same standards, it's just you can't exactly do that when the fanbase has been conditioned to smoke hopium and copium all day long. I want any pokemon fan to tell me why the quality of Pokemon games is somehow better than Mario and Zelda. And remember while you explain, that Pokemon is by far the richest. We can't be accepting $60 for a poorly made game and just say it's okay. It doesn't need to be BOTW brilliant or MHR Beautiful it just needs to be worth the price, which it isn't. I would like to clarify that even with it's faults many people including myself actually really enjoyed playing the game. I just know a lot of people felt a little ripped off at the end of the day.
I get you're proving a point but dude seriously Pokemon Legend of Arceus was their first experiment on an open-world Pokemon game mean yes and probably met and not been the best but you're literally slamming the entire game for saying it's poorly made horror graphics and you're even saying the mini-bosses suck I can understand if you're trying to improve Zach but dude games are always going to be priced at $60 yes they probably should be lower but that's not how prices are mean if you can't get over that fact then why are you even bitching about this I understand $60 sounds like way too much but to this day honestly more stuff is expensive back in my day so unless you want to complain about something I suggest you stop and no I'm not defending arcillas but I'm telling you as a person quit complaining about something that's out of your control
@@adamsnodgrass8784 It's completely within our control which was my entire point, bit people are letting it slip out of our control. Something that's also in your control, is punctuation lmao, it really come's in clutch sometimes. You're using "first attempt" like it's some excuse for the graphics, the graphics are unaffected by experience in world design. My point was that people need to stop protecting certain games just because someone we like made them. I'm fairly sure you're just trying to defend Arceus btw, idk where that completely contradicting paragraph is coming from. You spent the entire first part defending the game then said "i'm not defending arcillas". My point is not that the price should be lower but that the quality should increase and people like you need to stop defending it. But seriously, I'm no english teacher but good lord what you wrote was practically impossible to read.
@@adamsnodgrass8784 Yo ngl the original poster does kinda sound like they just hate the game but I gotta agree with them. + That paragraph is impossible to read and you even contradicted yourself no?
I have mixed feelings. I LOVE Next Level Games, they breathe so much life into these characters, and I loved the heck out of Luigi's Mansion 3, and I was really excited for this game too. The amount of content already in this game is terrible, but to be brutally honest, I kind of like the free DLC system. It's a way of keeping me coming back to the game several months after launch, and it's always fun to see what will get added to the game. For games that were already beyond complete, such as Splatoon 2 or Super Mario Odyssey, the free DLC was incredible and changed the way I thought about those games. This however, is just kind of disappointing. There is just so little content that even free DLC cannot make up for. What the actual baby yoshi Nintendo.
I really appreciated this video. I have watched you for years since it was you, Gabe, and even Jake. Lol. It was good to see you be truly critical of Nintendo when they are clearly doing something wrong. As someone who was a die hard Wii U owner, although I have really enjoyed the Switch Era, I personally thought Nintendo worked harder on their Wii U software because they were fighting from behind. There are some amazing Switch games but lets be honest in saying that they have relied on a bunch of Wii U ports and had some lazy releases as well.
Under a fifth of Nintendo's first-party games are Wii U ports. That isn't really "lazy" by any means unless you're willing to call other third-party developers that same charge. Mario Strikers Battle League is really fun. Nintendo did nothing wrong there.
@@dogg-paws Yes it is lazy when you compare it to their past console generations and yes Third parties are very guilty of this as well. Yes, the Gameplay is good but it is lacking in content big time. This new model of releasing games incomplete and releasing content later is ruining gaming and is why I purchase retro games more often than new ones now a days and why retro games cost so much. People want complete experiences that work out of the box and don’t need downloads or Dlc. I will stick with my Gamecube Copy of Strikers.
I understand, I just got the game a couple days ago and I've been playing a bunch with my little brothers and we're having a great time however something I quickly noticed is the lack of characters and stages, then when my brothers split off and I wanted to play some single player stuff I got through the cups and was like wait... this is it, it's honestly super not fun to play single player for more then like 2 matches. I even hopped into some mario golf again which I hadn't played in months and upon seeing the 4 new characters and stages it really made me like playing the game again and theirs even the online which is easy to hop into and works great. I'm scared that strikers could be something I stop playing and jump back into a year from now and there only be 3 new characters and 3 new stages which adding that to a 10 character/5 stage roster feels like nothing and is something that should have been in the game from the get go. The dlc in aces, or golf adds on to a pre existing package whilst the dlc that's gonna come out for strikers feels like something missing from the base game
@@100toonlink That's exactly why you expect upgrades from games that were from 15 years ago... like what??? they have way more mario characters to pull from... Yeah I played mario strikers charged a few months ago so I know what the old games were like too... your comment reeks of bootlicking
This is the first day one purchase I bought that I opened on day one without watching a week or so of reviews. I opened it on day one, played it, and I feel ripped off. And I can't take it back.
I still play Mario Golf Super Rush monthly to unlock costumes. And it's funny that i have such a love hate relationship with that game. Everything has always felt slightly off about the game. I went and tried a few other arcade like golf games and i was surprised how much i actually liked Super Rush's swing mechanics compared to other games. I think the things that drive me the most nuts with Rush is the wind and slopes. I cannot get a true feeling for them. A 4 mph wind sometimes feels like it affects my ball as much as a 13 mph wind. And hitting off a steep hill in the rough seems inconsistent too. The slopes on the greens are a little better but still don't seem as consistent as other games, such as Hot Shots/Everybody's golf. I know it's past the point of Nintendo caring about fixing it. Which is a shame because Rush is good but it could have been great
This is what happened when it comes to buying music digitally and have family sharing, you later find out that certain song artists have public images like serious issues, like Elvis Presley, which I really hate because you know, iTunes Store.
Even Captain Tsubasa (that anime style soccer game) looks like it had more than Mario Strikers. Tsubasa has cool power kick and super move animations even if it doesn’t have the items and such that Strikers has. Tsubasa had a full story mode AND characters you could level up to increase their stats and such. I was pretty hype for Strikers, but quickly shifted my attention to other games as I saw how slim the package was. I’ll stick my money into Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak and TMNT Shredder’s Revenge. Both together are ~$60 and pack WAY more value.
This is worrisome. One of two things is happening. Either Nintendo doesn't care , or they are in serious financial trouble and are going out of business. I sometimes wonder if they are going out of business and they don't want to tell us
You know how we found out that they wanted to release everybody’s 1,2, switch for 60 knowing it sucks? Well I absolutely believe it after this. Honestly, I was disappointed with Mario party not having enough maps and I was able to collect everything quickly. I haven’t touched it since. When I got the golf one I was frustrated beyond belief and being told “more later” “DLC later” is frustrating. Because we are now growing accustomed to getting games and paying lots of money for incomplete games and a promise of more to come at a later date. This one doesn’t promise a single player mode or anything interesting and I don’t think adding a couple characters or arenas will make up for the price sticker with lack of content. It sucks because i really do enjoy the Mario games and I’ve now become very skeptical over the games lately. (This also goes with promises of games to the consoles and then finding out it’s not happening or is pushed back or delayed). I refuse to pay $60 or more on a game that doesn’t give the full content. I’d rather wait and see if they add more later and then pick up the game. So, I feel you completely on your frustration.
I think it’s a stategy emplored on purpose by Nintendo. Everytime they release new DLC it is an attempt to reinvigorate sales and recreate excitement for a title that is no longer a new release. This however screws over people who buy the physical edition because it only has the launch content in it which is also bad for game preservation 20 years from now. I think it’s vile and disgusting and just because it’s the world we live in today doesn’t make it ethical or right
20 years from now Nintendo isn't going to convince people to buy Strikers Battle League, but whatever games they've recently released in 2042. The audience will be very, very small.
In all honesty. Hear you mentioning Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and Mario strikers.. I really wished they could have combined them all into a Mario Nintendo Sports. Obviously, they made Mario & Sonic Olympics, and they made Nintendo Switch Sports. All-in-all if they would have combined them all into 1 sport game, I think they really could have made a bigger impact when it came to sales.
There definently was wiggle room, i feel like even if they didnt combined them, they will in the future otherwise how else could they improve the game.
The gameplay is amazing, but the lack of characters, stadiums and a single player campaign really disappointed me. The cups are way too short and don’t have any feeling to them. The Road to the striker cup in Strikers Charged showed news reports after each match and even had bosses in order to unlock some new characters and stadiums. You don’t feel the same love in battle league because it feels rushed. Hope Dlc can polish this game because I really doubt we’ll get a true single player campaign.
not the first nintendo game to be released super bare bones, just to get updates to fix it later Nintendo has been really cash graby recently, well, I guess they have always been cash graby
That's really unfortunate, the game looked pretty good. But yeah, knowing this I'll wait till either it goes on sale or there's enough DLC to make it interesting if I buy it at all.
I watched gameplay of the game and just didn't even wanna pick it up. It's a Mario game, so I expected more. I also realize that dlc is becoming an excuse for games not being ready. It's just frustrating. I mean, I know how excited people were for this, but I feel like it was a bust beyond the graphics and multiplayer.
I’ve been pissed at Nintendo since Animal Crossings New Horizons. I bought a PS5. I’ve barely touched my switch since. Why would I? What has Nintendo done? They refuse to listen to their fans, keep making insane decisions, and aren’t putting out anything of value. Why in God’s good name do they think I or others like me would ever buy their next gen unit?
NSS is worse in my opinion, this is an old problem that grew, and they have basically been trying to do the artificial demand thing like with VC and NSO, but these would have gotten stuff over time without trying to do artificial demand, and I don't know why they are still trying after MTA, MGSS and NSS so this is just crappy Nintendo becoming more crappy over time
I’m glad at least HAL learned from the criticism after Star Allies for Forgotten Land. Forgotten Land is short but has the a better amount of playable content I expected from Kirby games earlier like Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. It’s the right amount it makes me also glad it’s not going into filler content overload territory either. Wish Next Level Games wasn’t pressured so much by Nintendo. They’re so talented as essentially a high-class animation studio that just develops video games, they don’t deserve it.
I personally don't like these games for one reason grinding you have to get crushed for hours until you get decent gear and power-ups and you figure all sorts of combos of gear and at that point it gets dumb
They went full on multiplayer, big mistake, it's like going full on live service before even knowing if it will stick at all. Release your multiplayer games with a 3-4 hour coop or singleplayer campaign, which serves to flesh out characters and teach all mechanics and systems to the player. Basically like ARMS. Implement basic multiplayer where the only full focus is netcode. Then release it and check if it sticks before doubling down on live service plans or big competitive multiplayer. You can't know if a multiplayer game will be successful without big beta phases, that's why multiplayer games are the only games I'm not mad about lengthy Early Access periods on other platforms. How else could you know? No market analysis ever will guarantee you multiplayer hype before people got the game or an early version of it in their hands. Nintendo is doing so well with prototypes internally, they need to find a consumer friendly way to prototype multiplayer games to the public.
at least the low sales show nintendo that people aren’t going to buy these bare bone live service games it’s a shame though as i’m sure the devs really wanted to make this good because everything in is all polished aside from frame rate and i’m worried about future dlc if nintendo misinterprets the low sales with people not being interested in the game rather than it just not being worth the money
Nintendo NEED new people in charge. I thought they messed up in the Wii U era: I paid full price for Mario Party 10 with the Mario Amiibo and it felt more like a demo than a full game! I only played the free online weekend of the new Strikers to get 100 My Nintendo coins. Nintendo in their current form are repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot. If they knew what they were doing: - we would've gotten additional themes for the Switch by the end of the 2010s - we would've gotten Virtual Console very shortly into the Switch's life rather than putting classic games behind a subscription - the Mario sports games on Switch would've been fuller experiences - ACNH would still be getting regular updates - they'd offer a solution for lost Wii and DSi downloads (maybe compilation discs and cards?) I don't know what Nintendo are doing. I don't even know if the next Pokemon games will be any good, since Sword and Shield were such disasters and letting the Pokemon Gen 4 remakes be made by some half assed developer we'd never heard of before was a TERRIBLE idea! - It didn't work when Sega did this for the Mega Drive version of Galaxy Force 2 - The Code Monkeys shouldn't have been allowed to make the Game Boy version of Centipede (even the Game.com version is better!) - I have no idea what went wrong in making the Nintendo DS version of Lego Star Wars 2 Nintendo, it's WAY past time you get your act together!
I played the trial and thought the play was ok but was overwhelmed by all the extra activity going on that made it difficult to concentrate on learning the block, pass and shoot plays. My anger however is pointed at Switch Survival bowling. I enjoy special bowling but do not want to play that version every single time I want to play survival mode online play. Last night it was survival bowling for 19 of the 20 games I played. It should be the same as local bowling and offered as a choice and not forced on the player. Last week it was nearly half of the survival bowling games. What is up Nintendo?
I actually hate, yeah, really hate that Mario Strikers: Battle League sold like a minimum amount of copies and charged Next Level Games with it. And I’m like “GODDAMN!”
Loved Mario Strikers on Gamecube, never played the sequel but yeah definitely passing on this game until further notice as much as I love this sub-franchise. They could have easily started with even less characters than 10 but through a “story mode” or doing x number of online wins, unlock more characters but ok Nintendo, not spending $60, didnt do it for Golf either.
Zak... even when you are upset, you are still ground to earth guy.... and a nice guy. If you get mad, then there is a good reason for us to be upset. One of the things it's the Online DLC MMO money makers. That is why I get upset with Online... it should focus on single player and local home, with Online MMO as optional. I am glad your angry, because I am angry with many game companies that do the same. I would say more, but its beating a dead horse....
I agree with Zach that they should include more arenas, but the fact that they didn’t prioritize the game to include the previous arenas from the past Strikers game is actually suckish to me.
I thought this game looked cool but when my store received our delivery of stock for the game and I asked around, not 1 member of our staff was planning on getting it. That definitely put me off buying it, although I might get it if we get any copies traded in since staff price on trade-ins is usually pretty good. I do wonder if Nintendo expected it to not sell well though, I've gotten bigger restocks of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Hey Zach I just wanted to apologize for going off in your comment section it's just when someone slams a game that I know wasn't really the best I had an incredible time with Legends of Arceus and yeah I may have defended the game I want people to know that criticizing a game for his price-tag shouldn't be at the big issue here we should be able to enjoy the game like we did back in the 90s to 2000s you know when games were awesome mean the games are still awesome to this day but it seems a lot of people want to criticize more than give games of chance and I've actually changed myself to actually give games a chance so again Zach I want to apologize for going off in your comment section dude I see your videos so much I do love watching them best thing we can do is try to hang in there I know some stuff I wish we could change but we just got to hang in there thanks again for understanding
Finish the game in probably 4 hours, fun af but really needs more game modes, content, arenas, characters I was thinking of just making a gamelan of who ever has the most tackles wins lol
Mario Strikers: Battle League is Nintendo's Cyber Punk. I'm putting this more on Nintendo because it's a first party franchise and they want to have a Mario title for the summer. Most of the Mario sport games come out during the summer months, but they dropped the ball on this one. I feel ripped off and want a refund.
I bought Mario Golf Super Rush and I honestly felt it was mid at best. I didn’t bother buying Strikers. Then a friend of mine said she bought it specifically to play it with me and I feel obligated to get it now even though I don’t want it that much.
This game needs some free dlc. I feel like it’s been released like this to road test the online. But it’s no excuse. This game would love a story mode! Especially with all the gear. Even boss battles would be great within that. And challanges
Youre not the only one seeing and making sure we are aware that this game is lacking. please dont think that you have to ALWAYS BE POSITIVE. Its normal and human to show other emotions than happy and im here for it. Im here for you man.
I was so excited for this game to play with the kiddos, but it just seems like a demo more then. A full game. Not going to purchase after seeing them drop Super Mario Maker 2 so Quickly. I see them doing the same with this and just dropping support for it and then being stuck with an obviously incomplete game
Tbh I don’t even really like the gameplay because it’s so hard to see who I am and the button lag is absolutely ridiculous. Also I actually really enjoyed super rush and play it a lot.
Not being able to queue up with 4 people on a team is what killed it for me. Like why would you paint a team competitive online experience and not let your complete team join a lobby.
I have no problem having no single player mode I thought the single player mode in golf was so useless and tennis was meh, only game where the single player mode was awesome was sluggers, but like this is an online game that’s what I expected but I mean some basic modes like penalty kick or World Cup would be fun but just you needed more characters and arenas at start that’s my real only complaint
Nintendo needs to stop relying so heavily on updates and dlc…kinda like with Animal crossing we had to wait like 2 years to actually get a whole game… they are so worried about getting the next title out as soon as possible that they are willing to sacrifice the quality of their games. If someone is paying $60+ for a game it shouldn’t be half the game

I know it will get more, but Nintendo really needs to change how they develop games!
We need to somehow communicate with them that THEY NEED TO STOP THIS!!!
Agreed. Probably their board of directors. Miyamoto always said a delayed finished game is better than a rushed incomplete game.
Nintendo bought NLG

Respect Zach. I don’t always share your optimism for everything but I can agree with your justifiable anger in this one.
No, the reason is beacuase soccer/futball is not very popular in Japan.

But at the same time who tf celebrates 35 like it's their 18th/21st

You spent the entire first part defending the game then said "i'm not defending arcillas".

Ah yes be grateful for an inferior product….. just cuz. Gotcha buddy
This is the first day one purchase I bought that I opened on day one without watching a week or so of reviews. I opened it on day one, played it, and I feel ripped off. And I can't take it back.
Maybe Mario Strikers just isn't for you then. Has that thought ever entered your mind?
Which is a shame because Rush is good but it could have been great
This was the original fear about 'DLC' back when Nintendo started it back in what, the 3DS era?
I think it’s vile and disgusting and just because it’s the world we live in today doesn’t make it ethical or right
They can also a smaller game card. Via users being forced to download the additional content
Hope Dlc can polish this game because I really doubt we’ll get a true single player campaign.
not the first nintendo game to be released super bare bones, just to get updates to fix it later
Nintendo has been really cash graby recently, well, I guess they have always been cash graby
That's really unfortunate, the game looked pretty good. But yeah, knowing this I'll wait till either it goes on sale or there's enough DLC to make it interesting if I buy it at all.
I'm having a lot of fun playing this game, I love it!, but completely agree it needs more content!
It's a scam
Also it should never NEED a dlc to feel complete.
Zack: 'I'm so mad at Nintendo right now'
Also Zack: proceeds to waffle for 3mins before saying why they're upset
I’ve been pissed at Nintendo since Animal Crossings New Horizons. I bought a PS5. I’ve barely touched my switch since. Why would I? What has Nintendo done? They refuse to listen to their fans, keep making insane decisions, and aren’t putting out anything of value. Why in God’s good name do they think I or others like me would ever buy their next gen unit?
Same honestly
NSS is worse in my opinion, this is an old problem that grew, and they have basically been trying to do the artificial demand thing like with VC and NSO, but these would have gotten stuff over time without trying to do artificial demand, and I don't know why they are still trying after MTA, MGSS and NSS so this is just crappy Nintendo becoming more crappy over time
Scam alert above me do not interact with it
I’m glad at least HAL learned from the criticism after Star Allies for Forgotten Land.
Timestamp for what made him angry - 03:57
I have been longing for another Mario Strikers game and I love Battle League.
With that said, I can't disagree with anything you've said.
Yesss! I agree! Make tournaments! This game needs solo tournaments!
If they knew what they were doing:
- we would've gotten additional themes for the Switch by the end of the 2010s
- we would've gotten Virtual Console very shortly into the Switch's life rather than putting classic games behind a subscription
- the Mario sports games on Switch would've been fuller experiences
- ACNH would still be getting regular updates
- they'd offer a solution for lost Wii and DSi downloads (maybe compilation discs and cards?)
I don't know what Nintendo are doing. I don't even know if the next Pokemon games will be any good, since Sword and Shield were such disasters and letting the Pokemon Gen 4 remakes be made by some half assed developer we'd never heard of before was a TERRIBLE idea!
- It didn't work when Sega did this for the Mega Drive version of Galaxy Force 2
- The Code Monkeys shouldn't have been allowed to make the Game Boy version of Centipede (even the Game.com version is better!)
- I have no idea what went wrong in making the Nintendo DS version of Lego Star Wars 2
Nintendo, it's WAY past time you get your act together!
Even though you give trust worthy information, this felt like it most honest video
Frick man. I was just about to pickup my preorder tomorrow. Thanks for the warning
I couldn't agree more. The 1hr demo I played seemed like that was all I needed. I will not be buying this unless I can get a physical for £30 max.
100% agree. I hate the fact that FIFA is still a legacy version on switch and the Legacy FIFA has more content than MARIO Strikers
It reminds me of what Square Enix did to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT when they tried to make it an E-Sport game.
Finish the game in probably 4 hours, fun af but really needs more game modes, content, arenas, characters
I was thinking of just making a gamelan of who ever has the most tackles wins lol
I thought about buying mario strikers at one point but now I see this, thx for the notes dude and I won't ever buy this
Mario Strikers: Battle League is Nintendo's Cyber Punk. I'm putting this more on Nintendo because it's a first party franchise and they want to have a Mario title for the summer. Most of the Mario sport games come out during the summer months, but they dropped the ball on this one. I feel ripped off and want a refund.
Nintendo is the "Yup, that'll do" of gaming.
PS: I'm glad Nintendo fans are saying "No" to Nintendo's scummy practice.
I hope they suck it all in.
Thank you. Battle League has pissed me off so bad. I loved the other 2 strikers games so much. This one is absolute garbage. In every way.
I bought Mario Golf Super Rush and I honestly felt it was mid at best. I didn’t bother buying Strikers.
Then a friend of mine said she bought it specifically to play it with me and I feel obligated to get it now even though I don’t want it that much.
You know it’s bad when you can say one two switch has more content then Strikers
This game needs some free dlc. I feel like it’s been released like this to road test the online. But it’s no excuse. This game would love a story mode! Especially with all the gear. Even boss battles would be great within that. And challanges
I pretty much haven’t played ARMS since I beat the hardest level Grand Prix a few months after launch
Youre not the only one seeing and making sure we are aware that this game is lacking. please dont think that you have to ALWAYS BE POSITIVE. Its normal and human to show other emotions than happy and im here for it. Im here for you man.
I really want Zach and his friend Gabe to compete together in Mario Strikers: Battle League more often now that they released it!
Yall know what game I really want ported to the Switch? Remember a game we had back on xbox 360? Does *"Fancy pants"* ring a bell?😭
