- Nintendo just had their June 2024 Nintendo Direct giving us a look at upcoming Nintendo Switch games. Considering the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming soon, and the fact that the news has been rather quiet has left a lot of questions in terms for what's left for the Nintendo Switch. But SHOCKINGLY, this Nintendo Direct did the UNTHINKABLE!

It has been elaborated that Mario Party Jamboree will be fully compatible with non-motion controllers, but select mini-games won’t appear when playing with them.

Me too! From the looks of it, the battle system works well in full 3D (not counting the 3DS games), and I’m curious about the story, the Bros. Attacks, and other features and characters are here and/or coming back. Hopefully the Elite Trio does!

Actually a slight correction: You don't have to play Super Mario Party Jamberonne with a single joycon, you can play however you want, though you won't be able to play the motion control minigames if you use anything but a single joycon.

@@gameknight1971 while they are both really hype there is one key difference, metroid prime 4 was going to come, no matter what. the mario and luigi series was claimed death. the company behind it went bankrupt, and its been 9 years. we just figured there would never be a game again, but boy am i glad to be proven wrong.
I think its both prime 4 and ML brothership, because prime 4 looks STUNNING, i never imagined it to be that gorgeous tbh

I honestly think Nintendo is testing the waters one more time to see how many people will buy and care about a DK game. If the Returns remake does well, I'd say we'll definitely get a new game for the next console.
@emperorfridgethedude _Tropical Freeze_ sold pretty darn well on Switch. I don't get why _Returns_ being ported to Switch would only be as a "last chance" release for the _Donkey Kong_ series.

Apparently, AlphaDream's management was terrible to the point they were being bankrupted partially by fines. It's possible Nintendo hired the actual talent, who'd perform better under better management.
I feel baffled to see Nintendo randomly giving Switch Sports a free update after a long inactivity. To be clear, it's not news to me, seeing that Super Mario Run & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were done in a similar fashion, but updating a game that's being hated for all its quality sounds hilarious.

The biggest announcement was the Marvel vs Capcom fighting collection. For many of you non fighting game fans, this was something we the fans have been campaigning for years due to some games in the series being delisted off the digital store since 2013 and due to the poor reception/performance of the last game in the MVC series: MVC Infinite, it did felt like both companies would be unwilling to work again on a new game but seeing this series return with online play gives us fans the joy for having all the games in one collection and the possible hint of a new game in the series

My favorite thing about the direct is easily Mario & Luigi Brothership. It's what they should have done instead of BIS+ BJ's Journey. The new environments and the 3d models for the characters are amazing as always. The Super Bros. Attacks returning instantly blew me away as I loved that mechanic from Superstar Saga. My favorite thing is Kevin Afghani actually made a MAJOR improvement on Mario & Luigi's voice and sound very similar to Charles Martinet. Can't wait for it to release.

I think that what you call Bros Attacks are actually the regular Jump and Hammer attacks just amped up. They Look too basic to be Bros Attacks

I can definitely live with that. The biggest turn off of super Mario party for me outside of the terrible boards was how it forced a single joycon on everyone.
I loved the ML game, the new zelda game and absolutely adored the metroid prime 4! About the mario party, i liked the new idea, but im so disappointed Pauline isnt playable... i had rlly high expectations and it got destroyed and turned into ashes in seconds with the trailer, but even with that the game looks fun and is also a W for the direct! Loved everything about those games tbh ^^ (Except this small thing that i might be taking too far about super mario party jamboree, sometimes i think i go too far with my stan for Pauline 😭)
They only showed 21 characters, and Mario parties have allways had even roster count...

All i can say is when i saw the new mario & Luigi brothership trailer. I said WHAT?!

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will also include content from the 3DS version, so it's not just the original Wii version with upscaled graphics. But considering the 3DS version was also released a long time ago, it still doesn't justify them selling it for full price, as far we know right now. But I will probably still get this game on my birthday in February, because not many games come out between Christmas and then, and this will provide me with at least one option.
But I will definitely consider getting Mario & Luigi: Brothership for Christmas this year, as that game has already got me hyped! I love that Mario and Luigi are still as expressive as ever, even in the jump to 3D!
I’m hoping they have some more content up their sleeve to be revealed later. There was a scrapped idea for Tropical Freeze where at the end of the game Lord Frederick (Yknow, they main villain and final boss), who was enshrouded in shadow the whole game would actually step into the light to reveal himself to actually be King K. Rool. Obviously, they didn’t go with it, but maybe they could somehow incorporate this into Returns HD, maybe as a secret boss or something.
Maybe they’ll even add some new levels, perhaps a whole new world like the 3DS version did. Maybe this new world could feature the kremlings and K. Rool as the final boss. Maybe they’ll even do a whole bowsers fury style second campaign.
Yeah, I know a lot of this is wishful thinking, but it’s been over 10 years since the last DK game, d*mmit! We deserve more Donkey Kong!
@@raxxtv1998 You're right. A new Donkey Kong Country game is long overdue. I would hope at least they would make a successor to Donkey Kong 64 and call it Donkey Kong World. Then get the former guys from Rare to write the music and create a new DK Rap.
I almost started crying when I saw the INCREDIBLE return of Mario & Luigi. I just didn't do so cause I was in shock that this was even happening, I still feel like I'm in a dream and waiting for the vs Sephiroth memes to come back and then immediately wake up and cry lol

Except for National Leg Strap Day, I didn't expect Nintendo Switch Sports to return more than 1 year after its last update, but none of that matters when we have Mario and Luigi coming back!!!!!! (I lost my mind just over the announcement of Mario and Luigi: Brothership, BTW.)

It was scary because T&D predicted Donkey Kong Country Returns HD but I would'nt have been suprised anyway.
I’m so glad to see this. If it’s not by alpha dream then maybe they’ll tone down the tutorials. They seem to already be making the game quicker by getting rid of needing to switch to a hammer stance because I think they put hammer inputs to x and y.

But on a more serious note, we Mario fans are eating well, like we're eating an entire Thanksgiving turkey. Scratch that. We're having another feast. Mario & Luigi: Brothership and Super Mario Party Jamboree. I do have good news for the latter, turns out you can play it with the Pro Controller, so easy Day 1 buy for me. Retro Studios are the kings when it comes to optimization and visual fidelity. They've not lost their spark!

Just a question demeech how you know the frame rate of a game from a look? Is just maybe a me problem but I do wonder how people do this analyze without a frame rate analyzer
Usually people can tell from experiencing the difference between what 30 fps and 60 looks like.
When you watch a video on a phone (best device for it, but others work too) at 480p 30 fps and then switch it to 720p 60 fps, you will see when the video actually applies it as you watch. Do that enough times and you will start to notice when something has higher framerates than other things.
You can do the same thing inverted to find when fps drops occur too. Like do something that is performance demanding in Tears of the Kingdom and watch how slower everything plays out.

As a huge MvC fan, I'm extremely hyped to play all the entries from Children of the Atom to Marvel VS Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes on a Nintendo console as it's the first time EVER that those games have been put onto a console from The Big N
In regards to the new Mario and Luigi and who’s working on it - I remember hearing that Nintendo straight up hired most of the original staff of Alphadream.
So there is a good chance it’s being made by the original creators.

Honestly, it was a lot of the Third Party games that interested me the most, since my main boi Kirby didn’t make it for this one.
The MvC Arcade collection is MUCH more important than what non-fighting game fans believe, it’s great to have the older Dragon Quest games playable, and having the Ace Attorney Investigations collection rocks; you can now play EVERY Ace Attorney game on Switch besides the Layton crossover!
Though having played every M&L game except Partner’s in Time, I am interested in Brotherhood. It looks so much fun! And of course, I can’t wait for more info on Metroid Prime 4 since it’s finally been shown off.
I think Nintendo has an end goal in mind for Switch Sports - something akin to the Nintendo Metaverse, periodically releasing these piecemeal sports additions to refine them, and using the same scripts, models etc for whatever their big “metaverse” feature will be on Switch 2 (a la a more advanced PlayStation Home). Now whether that’s the right move or not, time will tell …

Without a doubt my favorite annoucment had mario and luigi brothership, I can't describe how much important mario and luigi for me, sure new super mario bros wii is how I know about mario but is mario and luigi and by that I mean that three first game that got me to love the plumber in the first place. my second close is the dragon quest HD-2D I more than admit I am a sucker for this artstyle with live a live remaster in my opinion the second best looking sprite game I saw in my life only behind freedom planet 2 and seeing this masterpiece comnig on this my heart shine.
These past few years are the greatest times to be a Mario fan.

I bet the video about the bad reveals will probably include: That Looney Tunes sports game because it looks kinda ugly and made by Gamemill. And seeing last year, I think we all know what Gamemill made. Just Dance because that always gets a anual new game. And Funko Fusion because I've heard everyone who live reacted to the Direct say most adults don't care for them. I'm calling it here.
Actually there are some that like the funkos hences why they're so confident on it selling as for the Looney tunes one can't Blane you for that one, not the worse they did ever since the whole king Kong Chaos during development so still interested buy I will need to see a review so I won't get baitted.

Ilca is not working on Echos of Wisdom. Grezzo was the studio behind Links Awakening. It's actually more likely Ilca is involved in Mario and Luigi Brothership since a lot of Alpha Dream developers moved over there when the studio shut down.

I think the most surprising thing for me is the Nintendo World Championship making a comeback.
There is still a lot of life left in the Switch.
I think from 3ds we will see luigis mansion 1. Yoshi and pochy wolly world. And possibly link between worlds😊

To be fair, DK64 would need a lot of work. The Rare logos and Rares ZX Spectrum game Jetpac would probably have to be removed (they were all in the virtual console versions, but for a retail release I’m sure that wouldn’t fly), and they would absolutely have to change the way the tag barrels work. Change the regular bananas to one singular color (yellow), and allow each character to collect all of them. Allow character swapping on the fly like in the country games. Introduce a modern camera, and tweak the way in which the characters control. I always felt like diddy and tiny were slippery and flimsy to control.
Also, it would be a really neat bonus to allow us to play as Dixie and Kiddy instead of Tiny and Chunky.
I can’t really think of much else to change, it has been a while since I played through it to be fair. Any suggestions?
They absolutely cooked with this direct. I was sad that their was no Fire Emblem announcement, as it’s my favorite Nintendo franchise but man we have some quality stuff coming. I’m especially excited for Echoes of Wisdom as it takes the best part of BOTW and TOTK, the creative use of materials, and makes it the central focus of the gameplay instead of an option. I’m excited we got a proper reveal of Prime 4 since it gives me plenty of time to finish Prime 2 and play through 3. I’ve always wanted to get into the series. 9/10 direct imo.

HD for Nintendo means updated lighting and select new textures on the same models, just being upressed where they were "good enough". Always a shame when Nintendo only does these. They really should all launch as Nintendo Selects, or at least be $40 like Metroid Prime Remastered, which was offered at a majorly discounted rate for some reason while having more texture work than any of their "HD" game entries and being ported to a new engine. Nintendo is weird
I think one thing holding Donkey Kong back is in fact Metroid Prime 4. Remember the DKC Returns games are made by Retro and they are full on Metroid Prime 4 right now.

It's Real And I'm All for it! Mario & Luigi to Jamboree to Marvel Vs. Capcom (actually wished for this at one point no lie) and Prime 4 Beyond was quite the showender for sure (Arlo would know🤣) safe to say it's a good time to be a Nintendo fan right now surprises all around since I actually manage to go in this blind didn't make to the live event but I made it eventually and it was a good time.😌

I'm disappointed with the direct. I cant believe they chose to remake Donkey Kong Country returns again when it already has been done on the 3DS! Im disappointed we didn't get Mario Galaxy 2 on switch. We haven't had a 3D Mario since Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury back in 2021 and its a huge missed opportunity to not bring that game to the switch and its still stuck on the Wii! I'm excited for Super Mario Party Jamboree though but thats it. I didn't care about everything else

I just find it funny how some people were calling Looney Tunes Wacky World of Sports shovelware when the Mario Sports games on Switch have been very lackluster. Even Nintendo Switch Sports. Nintendo fans are just biased asf. Earlier this month, someone did a poll on Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and Mario Kart Tour. They asked what game they prefer, and 73% of people voted for Mario Kart Tour while Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled only got 27%. It just goes to show how much Nintendo fans 🍆 ride Nintendo because there's no way in hell Mario Kart Tour is a better game than Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. You have to be a boring asf person to prefer that game over CTR. I'm sorry 😂.

Nothing even remotely good, just a bunch of random rehashes. Nintendo certainly lost their edge. They only seem to do well when it comes to releasing first party titles with the launch of their new console.

DKC returns in HD with extra levels from the 3DS and no forced motion controls is very welcome as far as I'm concerned
Only positive about DKCR HD is it'll include all the extra 3DS levels so there's that I suppose :/ maybe we'll get Yoshi's Wooley World next?
