I think the reason why Chris Pratt was chosen as the voice of Garfield was not just for being a big time celebrity which can be selling reason but also because no joke he has done 10 straight consecutive years(2014-2024)of nothing but blockbuster succeses one after another after another and getting numerous accolades for all of them so I feel everybody involved in the making of the movie felt it was an ace in the hole and no brainer decision to have Chris Pratt play the lead role as that much success is really hard to ignore or turn down

Oh no Vic is a liar I am sure he kidnapped Garfield from his mother. He is Binky hint look at him hiding behind a cake, binky's picture on the rv and he kicked garfield off the train. Remember binky likes to do practical jokes on garfield. Vic said he come to visit. Binky is one of garfield's enemies.

But then again, as I said many times, and I'm sure that AniMat knows it too, "Chicken Little" did save the Walt Disney Company. So that's something.

Some random trivia: there's a surprising amount of Eurovision artists in some of the European voice casts for this movie. Intars Busulis, who represented Latvia in 2009, stars in the Latvian dub, last year's runner-up Käärijä stars in the Finnish dub, and last but not least, this year's runner-up Baby Lasagna stars in the Croatian dub. That last one felt quite inevitable, me thinks.
I mean, the animation does feel a bit true to the comics and cartoons, but alas. 😑 I mean, if anything, my favorite of all goes towards Garfield and Friends since that's the Garfield I grew up with.
❤️💖 Plus, this isn't the first time that Garfield try his attempt to make his own theatrical movie? No not the crappy live action films starring Bill Murray. No it was planned way back in the late 80s and early 90s. It was called Garfield's Judgement Day. It would bee made and released maybe around the late 80s and early 90s. Jim Davis wanted this special to be one of the best Garfield specials, involving much more serious themes than previous specials based on the brand, namely involving a tornado destroying his hometown. Interestingly, Disney was the studio working on it. The special went through scripting and was fully story-boarded. All of the voice acting, several songs, and an estimated 15 minutes worth of animation were completed before Disney cancelled the special, feeling the subject matter was far too dark and depressing for a Garfield cartoon. Davis tried to script the special two more times, but the studio showed no interest both times. The story was eventually incorporated into a Garfield picture book of the same name in July 1990. A documentary titled Happy Birthday Garfield that aired on CBS in 1988 featured a "sneak preview" of the special. Aside from this, no other footage of the film has been seen. I don't get why they cancelled it just because it was too dark for kids. Come on, kids and adults can handled dark themes in animated films and way back in the 1980s and 1990s animated films weren't afraid to be dark and mature and they can be good and be box office hits. To this day, I still wished we could have gotten that movie version of Garfield's Judgement Day. It makes me wished that this Garfield Movie could have recycled ♻️ elements from Judgement Day instead of playing it too safe. I personally hated when animated films being way too safe for kids. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the Garfield and I have yet to see it but still wished it could have been better. 🐱🐶🌪 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️
As a Garfield fan, I agree with it being very flawed, but I still enjoyed this movie for the most part. There could have been a bit more Jon, and Bill Murray did do a better job voicing Garfield, but the animation is very faithful looks like it was ripped straight from the comics, and there are some likable characters. Now time for my ratings: Story: 4/10 Animation: 8/10 Characters: 6/10 Rating: 6/10
With all due respect, personally, I loved The Garfield Movie. So did my sister. I think this is the movie that Garfield himself and his fan base deserved. The world has been waiting 35 years for Garfield to have his own animated full length movie, ever since Garfield's Judgement Day got cancelled. In other words: It's About Time! And I'm really happy with this movie. Sure it's nothing particularly over the top or groundbreaking, but the movie is true to what makes Garfield the cat, Garfield the cat. Besides, Garfield's own creator Jim Davis was the executive producer. It's funny, enjoyable and a bit heartwarming. I do sense that they played it safe with this movie by keeping the story and the animation a bit simple, but I think that actually helped the movie overall. It makes the movie that much more relatable to the comics and the original popular show of the 1980s. As for the voice acting, I thought everyone actually fit their respective roles including Chris Pratt. Lorenzo Music will always be the undisputed best voice of Garfield, but (unlike the 2000s Garfield show, which I simply got used to Garfield's husky voice) I actually feel like Chris Pratt is a worthy successor to voice Garfield. I honestly think he pretty much nailed it and actually sounds like Garfield. I'm also excited to see the sequel they promised at the end. Since this movie was a bit safe as there was no guarantee to how the public would respond, I can imagine (that after The Garfield Movie's clear box office success) that the sequel will be a bolder movie building on this film's establishment's success.
To me it's an okay movie. The animation looks great and I can see what they were going for with the whole father-and-son relationship between Garfield and Vic, but at the end of the day, this movie isn't anything special and Jinx is (in my opinion) a pretty forgettable villain. Overall, 6/10.

I think all the modern movies and shows and culture are playing safe and ruined all because of one thing. Children, children ruin everything, so much so that everything like celebrities memes out dated references representation and morals are forced and repeated because of them. And Garfield (2024) is a good example of that, instead of getting Frank Welker to reprise his role as the orange, the filmmakers decided that Chris Patt should that spot.

Being a fan of Garfield I'm still going to check this out as it does seem funny to me and I am a big Garfield fan the issue I see here for me that bogs down this movie as well as the previous so called live action movies is the simplicity of putting an unnecessary throw in your face villain which I don't believe Garfield ever was about as his snarky attitude was always what sold him and what carried him through all these years. I think the reason why Chris Pratt was chosen as the voice of Garfield was not just for being a big time celebrity which can be selling reason but also because no joke he has done 10 straight consecutive years(2014-2024)of nothing but blockbuster succeses one after another after another and getting numerous accolades for all of them so I feel everybody involved in the making of the movie felt it was an ace in the hole and no brainer decision to have Chris Pratt play the lead role as that much success is really hard to ignore or turn down
@@KenzieRetroAre you dissing IF!
@@KenzieRetro The cast of If isn't bad just the writing doesn't help them give them good material to work off on. Also Fosters home for imaginationy friends did this idea better.
I like Garfield as a kitten. He is so cute 😻
I didn't expect this to come so soon. But here it is: Animat's reviews, Garfield the movie (2024)
Looks like Mark Dindal must’ve been working out the kinks with the father son dynamic. I wonder if people will take the relationship between Garfield and Vic over the relationship Chicken Little and Buck Cluck
Their relationship felt relatable and healthy, the opposite of what was found in Chicken Little
@@danielgudinojuarez6729fair enough
@@danielgudinojuarez6729 fair enough
Oh no Vic is a liar I am sure he kidnapped Garfield from his mother. He is Binky hint look at him hiding behind a cake, binky's picture on the rv and he kicked garfield off the train. Remember binky likes to do practical jokes on garfield. Vic said he come to visit. Binky is one of garfield's enemies.
At least it looks more faithful to the comics than the live action films with Bill Murray, that’s for sure 👌🏻
You forgot to mention that the movie breaks the 4th wall.
The Garfield Movie is NOW one of my FAVORITE movies of 2024!!!! Garfield reuniting with his father has warmed my heart!!!
I love Garfield as much as the next guy. But, I know this isn't the movie that I see myself watching. It's just another average cartoon animated movie with nothing about it that stands out like SCOOB (minus the excecutive meddling).
Huh. Looks like Mark Dindal's critical curse is not broken. A little better than "Chicken Little", but still, with this review, I might say that Mark Dindal is kinda cursed. But then again, as I said many times, and I'm sure that AniMat knows it too, "Chicken Little" did save the Walt Disney Company. So that's something.
I don't think he's cursed. It's just he's probably a little rusty after nearly 20 years of being absent from filmmaking. I'm sure things will pick up for him again in his next film.
I blame Sony for all the films minor problems, executive meddling is the worst
@@danielgudinojuarez6729 At least Sony’s executive meddling wasn’t as bad as Disney’s to his last film. I still feel Dindal had more creative control over Garfield than he had with Chicken Little.
Still better than Megamind 2 Dumb Syndicate.
I wonder if animat will review that garbage movie
Good one 😂👏
Anything is better than Megamind 2. This is a upgrade from the last time Garfield was on the big screen.
Megamind Doom Syndicate was clearly not the sequel but the tv pilot
The Garfield Movie also looks more promising than Wish! (Sorry Wish fans)
I immediately knew it was going to be bad just from looking at the trailer.
Is it just me or does Garfield have bad luck when it comes to movies
I guess because the filmmakers are REALLY having a hard time coming up a story that is around 90 minutes for Garfield
@@MarioMinionProductionLet’s forget that part of it is probably because studio mandates have too much power nowadays
It's ironic Peanuts could have successful films with the original films from the 70s and 80s and The Peanuts Movie, yet Garfield has a more harder time translating to film.
@hunterolaughlin Garfield was never as thoughtful or mature as Peanuts was though, once you cycle through the Monday/coffee/lasagna/lazy/vet/Odie/Nermal jokes, there's not much left to him.
@@CinnamonGrrlErin1 My mother's loves Peanuts, but she thought the movie was disappointing for feeling too much like a longer episode.
She did enjoy Horton Hears a Who, even thou most people are mixed with it.
Haven’t seen it yet, but I might as well have a mid expectation with it. As a guy who likes Garfield, I hope I can have a little fun out of it. This will probably be better than Live action Garfield and Chicken Little
0:32 “so do you have any regrets?”
Based on the Trailers and Promos, the Film does seem okay, even though its not the same as watching it in Theaters.
Cats have 9 lives. This movie has none.
I mean, the animation does feel a bit true to the comics and cartoons, but alas. 😑
I mean, if anything, my favorite of all goes towards Garfield and Friends since that's the Garfield I grew up with.
I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was a fun, fluffy film and thats ok.

The Garfield Movie is the best movie of 2024. Along with Ferrari & Race For Glory Audi VS Lancia. And Inside Out 2 too.
This movie isn’t _good,_ but I see it as _decent._

Lasagna Cat will always be the best adaptation of Garfield.
I Can't Believe It's Not Illumination
You probably should've released this on Monday and see how he feels
This looks way better than The Garfield Show.
I still don't get why they didn't bring Frank Welker back?
Because according to Hollywood, Frank Welker isn't famous enough.
Also, Mark Dindal (the director of the film) thought Chris Pratt fits Garfield.
@@Trainboy452 Call me crazy but I just assumed the guy who had experience voicing Garfield would fit Garfield more
I mean, Garfield is suppose to be viewed as cynical and grumpy rather than overly angsty.
I kept waiting for that purple cow guy to say ARBY’S- WE HAVE THE MEATS.
Well I'm excited for this New Garfield movie
What is it with Mark Dindal and crazy female villains ? Darla Dimple, Yzma, And now Jinx ?
As a Garfield fan, I agree with it being very flawed, but I still enjoyed this movie for the most part. There could have been a bit more Jon, and Bill Murray did do a better job voicing Garfield, but the animation is very faithful looks like it was ripped straight from the comics, and there are some likable characters. Now time for my ratings:
Story: 4/10
Animation: 8/10
Characters: 6/10
Rating: 6/10
You should do a history on garfield
They should called it the “Garfielf Movie”.
To me it's an okay movie. The animation looks great and I can see what they were going for with the whole father-and-son relationship between Garfield and Vic, but at the end of the day, this movie isn't anything special and Jinx is (in my opinion) a pretty forgettable villain.
Overall, 6/10.

I don’t Care what anyone says, I think The Garfield Movie (2024) is the Best Film of 2024!!!
Still better than Chicken Little and the Live Action Garfield Movie (2004) Combined!!!
7:48 20 years later the CG Garfield (from the 2004 film) has aged like “Monday Milk”.
Garfield must be a challenge to get adaptaed right these days.
Harvey Guillen As The Voice Of Odie A Yellow Beagle Dog And Is Garfield’s Best Friend
My brother is a huge Garfield Simp ;)
Oop 🤭
With how Garfield's dialogue was written and how Pratt delivered it, it reminded me more of Movie!Sonic than Garfield.

13:26-13:35 You know, that actually sounds pretty cool.
7:19 Ah, the infamous animation error in that one episode of The Garfield Show.
Saw this movie and I actually enjoyed it! While I can say that a portion of the jokes didn’t stick the landing, most of them were good. The story didn’t feel flat to me, it was consistent and didn’t drag. Plus the characters were very entertaining. So, I give the Garfield movie a solid 4.5 stars.
Let's be real garfield doesn't need an great movie his movies are okay what they are they don't have to be like spider-verse or something i haven't seen the new garfield movie but this is my opinion and this also doesn't mean that i don't like spider-verse.
As a fan of Garfield, I thought this was quite an enjoyable film.
It still had plenty of references to the comics, some which I can't say because of story spoilers.
At least Mark Dindal, this movie is better than Chicken Little
It’s better than Hotel Transylvania. For better or for worse.
Garfield: 5/10? It dose like a Monday after all, I really don’t like Mondays
Am I the only one who noticed that Otto was voiced by Ving Rhames, the same actor who voiced Cobra Bubbles in the “Lilo & Stitch“ franchise?
NOT MY GARFIELD!!! For one, Garfield should never actually talk. He should always speak in thought, like in the strips and the old TV shows.
I do remember one of the earlier comic strips that depicted his grandpa.
