As a guy who regularly plays the 264, I can say that this is a very accurate representation of my feelings. I do however have to add that I dont skyclimb, that just feels filthy to me.

the thing is it's engines don't have any type of charger (turbo or super) so how the hell it can climb that much i mean it can but engine power should diminish so it would take ages
@@AdamTheEnginerd If you like bomber eradication I recomend you the M.B 175 T in the French bomber tree. Inb a french bomber. Yeah a fench bomber with 2 mg 151s packed to the brim with mineschegot on the front and another mg151 on the back, with 8 rockets and a bomber airspawn. Have fun erasing BVs with its rockets and then dive on the enemy team using its above average turn rate.
Me 264 takes hundreds of .50 cals, puts out multiple fires, and never has a structural failure. Meanwhile, B-17's lose their wings to a few 20mm's and P-47's are turned to shrapnel by one.
Well technically it should be like that. irl you could spray a plane whit 50 cals and he wouldn't bother. However a 20mm? Plane goes boom. In game 50 cals are way stronger than they should, a small spray can kill a mig But who would want nerfed 50 cals? Like 7.7s I don't.

There was never a record of a P-47's wing coming off in flight, and definitely not of the plane falling into several pieces. Pilots would usually return after their plane took a few 20 or 30mm shells, and a handful of cases documented planes that returned with more than 20 German 20mm's and hundreds of 7.92 hits. As for bombers, it needs no explanation. The B-17 was several times larger and heavier than the P-47, but in game both might as well be tissue paper. Poor damage models apply to almost all vehicles, but when the largest, toughest planes die to a single shell it does a better job at highlighting the issue.
@@dskpgsoe9008 Well, sort of. When the Japanese cannons do connect they are substantial (not as good as German guns, of course), but much like the Hispanos on Spitfires they have a bad reputation. This is largely because guns are more likely to spark in a turnfight. Even .50's spark like mad when I turn after players, but in level flight more get registered and tear the enemy apart. I'm not saying that either of these effects are accurate, but that the buggy game piles problems on top of bad models.
I will have to disagree: We need a chemotherapy able to remove P-61s, especially in a US vs Japan setup: running away for 5 minutes with 4 50cals as a back gunner, just to turn around and force a headon with 4 20s and then endlessly repeating is much worse than spaceclimbing 264s (which aren’t always present). You see, 1 50cal can light a japanese plane on fire, no matter if it is API-T or AP, and headons are not always easy to avoid... Also, with its energy retention, top- speed, interceptor spawn and armament (laser turret included) it should be moved to at least 4.3...
Yeah but spaceman are just annoying, but every nation has some. The Americans got the b17 b29 and occasionally a f80, the Russians got a tu4, the Japanese r2y2, and Germany now has the me264 as well as the cancer ju44 super speed divers.
Its energy retention is kind of trash and being such a big plane its reall clumbsy. If you’re in a japanese plane you can easily dodge the head on and theres no point in chasing it as it’s faster anyways

Germany having bombers that space climb and play passive. how the tables have turned. oh and yes they can carry matches, a organized squad of four me264 has won me games before, which is very dumb since there were no proper propfighter engagements. all in all, holy video showcasing a cleansing of the saltiest pilot kind.
The p47 d28 and p47 re-m are also pretty good for cleaning cosmic bombers. You stay between 1.8-2km behind and you spray one of his wing with a 700m guns convergence and tracers belts. Most of the time you also kill both 20mm gunners. True fun.
I'm doing an internship so I'm working atm, but that's not the reason I upload on Fridays. The upload day was just a quick thought experiment on what day would be best.
Well, Allied teams can feel the same way as German teams used to for something like 2 years, when B-17 cancer was at it's finest and a single shot from it's 50cal. was enough to evaporate all fighters. Hopefully Gayjin will be faster to fix this nonsense than last time.

That’s the same tactic of how I play the B-34 against BV’s. Pull up alongside and pepper their engines. Little tip for those rare P-61 flights. Bind the air brake to a mouse key. Handy for those uncontrollable moments. Even more useful in the SB2C.
Twin 50’s on the top. Also I want the PV-2D more as it’s got either 6 or 8 50’s in the nose. No interest in gun pods or bombs. B-34 just has 2 x 7.92’s and 2 50’s in nose. Can cause some mischief with a bomber spawn.
Would it be wrong if I said I was that one crazy Me 264 who specs everything into gunners and try to go into a gunship mode instead of being a high altitude bomber which is already boring to play?
Adam514 First of all, if you find bombers boring then you miss the point of the plane type entirely. Large bombers are strategically important in destroying the objective and to have bombers in the game allows for some aspect of PVE without having moronic players making your life a complete mess. On the other hand when you are in multiplayer, having a bomber prevents the game from turning into a dogfight match. Your version of what you want out of War Thunder is so One Dimensional and narrow sighted that I’m not surprised that all you do is complain. Having bombers means that the game isn’t just about fighters fighting fighters (which if that’s what you want there’s 50 other arcade games with that in mine) but about strategic planning with the need to eliminate objectives which are heavily defended. You can’t just have a game with just ground attack and fighters because at this point in War Thunder’s development game sizes are not limited to keeping strategic bombers out of the game. It’s there because it can be there. I do find your opinion is still negated though because the Tu-4 is so much better relatively to this and somehow it’s played off as Russian Bias. Clearly you spend more time getting angry at every new bomber you have to nitpick every detail to make a sizeable video. I also find disturbing that you are profiting off the suffering of a bomber because you decide to start witch hunting them over their apparent OPness. You realize the SP cost is ridiculous, right? Last point I want to make: if fighters were assigned to protect bombers but ignore them instead to pick a dogfight, the real cancer would be those players. Just because these bombers exist in game doesn’t mean you have to pick on them for being useless, because they will help win you a match should you on their team, and them being a fighter magnet would allow fighters to go after ignorant enemies. If anything should be the case in this game, they need new high altitude aircraft that can work with and against it. It shouldn’t be a question of if it’s cancer or not.
I do my P-61 a little different. I immediately start WEP climbing at the start of the match, looking for dots as 90% of the time the sooner a dot appears the bigger the plane = most likely bomber. I'm typically at a 264 or BV's altitude before the chaos begins and can kill them head on, not having to worry about cleanup at the end of a match.
I played the Me 264 to spade it... I got every single modifications without even using all of my free repairs. That already shows how powerfull the plane is. Also, to everybody calling space climbing Me 264 pilot's out for thier actions: don't... After playing about 12 matches I have concluded that there is no good way to decend in the Me 264, you just can't dive from 6km to below 1km in less than about 10 minutes.
Unrelated, but how should I aim at people in a tight corkscrew dive? Even larger planes like the Do335 I have a hard time hitting if they dive and corkscrew, even at close range. I usually aim where I think they're going to be in the corkscrew next, but maybe I should be aiming even farther ahead in the corkscrew and letting them run into my bullets?
Ironically enough, I know how to play and counter the me 264 since I have it, not to mention I also have the P-61, and its the BEST counter to the me 264 afaik. Also at one point, I asked you to do me 264 hunting in the tempest video. So yeah, thanks for making the vid. Keep up the good work because your vids are tempting to watch! ^^
its actually really cool because as far as I'm concerned that is exactly what that turret is meant to do, not as a defensive gunner but literally what you do is you fly under a plane and shoot them full of 50s. That's the actual tactic that was used by Black Widow pilots if Im not mistaken
Not sure if you'll fly it again Adam, but for your future P-61 matches, if you map a keybind to change controls mode, you can switch to simplified controls mode when in gunner view. This allows you to fly the P-61 with your keyboard just like when you're looking w the camera, but you can also turret-gun.
@@AdamTheEnginerd ah okay haha, actually would you recommend that control method during a no-options dogfight, or is it more cumbersome than it's worth?
If you are within shooting range of its gunners you can just stay behind it to the right and the gunners can touch you as the central gunner looking right can only shoot upwards, it's the left one that can shoot downwards (obviously I'm talking about approaching it from below, approaching it from behind it's the worst way possible as it can shoot you with 2-3x20mm)
@@AdamTheEnginerd At least thats what I got from the 10-11 matches I played that thing At first I thought it was a bug, but then I realised that one could shoot above and the other one could shoot below, still pretty weird tho 8 times I died to P61s coming from that exact position and shooting me from there, at times I even had P61s outclimb me lol (don't know if it's because I didn't have it completely spaded) One time me and other teammates with the same aircraft managed to get the bases + the af and win in like 6-7 mins And the other times I died trying to land the thing It has the weirdest flight model ever (someone I was arguing with said it's similar to the P61 when landing)

Hi Adam, whenever i go into gunner view on my p61, it is locked on a level flight and i cant dive away from enemy planes, it keeps pitching up, goes on a level flight with slight climb and i want to gun down enemies behind me. Please help me what to do in the control settings. thanks
Now that's the content i pay for! Thanks for P61 video. I've been doing that a lot lately, it's so satysfying to gunship with P61. Unfortunatelly, often i got too greedy, when i try to attack with 20mm to aggresively, Me 264 gets their 20mm Mg 151 turrets on me. Nevertheless i contributed in controlling Me 264 population in major way. I'ts nice (but difficult) to use P61 turret in dogfight with usefull planes. When you turnfight, with a fighter, you can switch to turret while continuing turning, and start to shoot the enemy. They either get crippled/killed with turret or start to panic, break off.
It's called the "local host". How to access the "local host": You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work! Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT: -Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila. Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT): -Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
@@AdamTheEnginerd it's plenty. With the B-34 vs BV 238 you have to get directly beneath them because of their firing arcs and I get a fair amount closer than you were getting in this video, but you can then shoot straight up into their wings and engines. The added benefit of that matchup is that you can often bring at least one BV down before it drops bombs.
Broadsiding in a plane xD nice one Adam I had an encounter with Cancer 264 some time ago. Luckily both guys who were flying them decided to fight instead of running away forever.
Reminds me of a fight I had in mine while spading it. An I-185 dragged himself all the way up, and the other remaining 264 and I were taking turns kiting him and making gunship passes. Sadly enough (for us), neither of us were any good at aiming turrets, so the I-185 eventually turned off, but it was a fun little energy fight. (And for those that hate the 264, you can take satisfaction that neither of us lived through the match, the other guy died to a fighter and I crashed trying to land it after a separate gunfight with a Yer-2)
Old video but still satisfying to watch! The Ju 288 C spam is all the rage these days and they are beyond annoying to kill! Dang things will sit at 7-8km doing 600+ kph and spray down anyone who attempts to get up there with them.

The only thing they had to do when they had the clear advantage in alt. was turning towards you. I had a similar situation the Me but the p61 came with a spit so I couldnt turn back.
@@AdamTheEnginerd Remember that loosing alt is an advantage for the Me... Usually the Me cant dive as fast as a fighter/ heavy fighter that interceps it, with the turn this problem could be solved because the Me is out of sight for a moment and can begin its descent earlyer. This of course just works when the p61 is alone. Very nice thumbnail btw.
Another good way to deal with cancer bombers after the fighters are defeated is to hunt them with rockets. It takes a lot of practise, but there is nothing more satisfying than to see burn and break up instantly after one hit from over 2k.
@@AdamTheEnginerd That is true, but I can still afterwards. The Rockets are used because it is FUN, not because it is the best way. And having to climb above a B29 at 9k in a Tempest takes awfully long.
My tactic is the following: 1: I climb to bomber altitude 2: I shoot down me 264s, he 111s, BV 238s and G4Ms 3: After doing that, I'll try to shoot heavy fighters (me 410s or bf 110s) 4: If they or a normal fighter shoot me down, I'll try to crash a delicately as possible in order to be able to use my turret 5: If I crash land correctly, I bait the enemy fighters and get easy kills

Lol, I was just doing the same thing an hour ago. Saw Phly's video doing the same thing but against BV 238s. I've seen a squad of 4 end a game once while I was flying my f-4. Good cancer remover!
I dogfight my ME264, i almost never climb to space, only on the beginning of the match, so i can drop pay load, then i always go down as fast as the plane handles, to go rearm. Sometimes when im confident i engage enemies who are harassing too much the allies, so to disperse and distract the enemy, it most often backfires and i end up getting shot. But there was some matches where i could fend off 3 planes and still land safely after
It seems like this is a better and safer tactic than my head-on and kill the pilot tactic in the P-38G, just because you have a lot more time to kill the damm planes.

Yea i saw P-61pilots do that a lot of times in my 264. Kind of smart! Me 264 dont have any defence below also i dont think 264 is cancerous. I mean, yea, its very good, but i think it sits at the wrong BR...should be like an 4.7 than an 3.7. For example i play that bomber a lot and i have a k/d of 3 with it X) also im very good at gunners. Nice content Adam, keep it up!

Because in my opinion at this br of 3.7: -It can be new players to RB and dont really what they are doing, how to counter other planes or even play their own plane and get crushed by veterans with experience( my case, im a 3+ year player) -Some planes lack power, speed and armament against it, the main issue is the unreal speed of the 264 ( can go 550-600 TAS wtf?) But meh, Gaijin never learn from their mistakes right? To explain my KD a bit more, 70% of the time my attackers stayed still right behind me. And then they cry when thy got sniped 1.2km away by my 20s and i never ran away or even refused a fight with an incoming fighter and never climbed to space like those guys in your video. Those, I agree, are cancerous. At least you punished them ;) I think this bomber should face 4.7 planes for balance. Also the repair cost is just....painful. 53K SL spaded....yikes

P61s are pretty easy to dodge, and with its poor climb you can get the energy advantage over it pretty easily.

The p47 d28 and p47 re-m are also pretty good for cleaning cosmic bombers.
You stay between 1.8-2km behind and you spray one of his wing with a 700m guns convergence and tracers belts. Most of the time you also kill both 20mm gunners. True fun.

Well, Allied teams can feel the same way as German teams used to for something like 2 years, when B-17 cancer was at it's finest and a single shot from it's 50cal. was enough to evaporate all fighters. Hopefully Gayjin will be faster to fix this nonsense than last time.
Well Germans benefited from nearly 100% fighter teams since the beginning until the Ju288.

That’s the same tactic of how I play the B-34 against BV’s. Pull up alongside and pepper their engines. Little tip for those rare P-61 flights. Bind the air brake to a mouse key. Handy for those uncontrollable moments. Even more useful in the SB2C.

Also I want the PV-2D more as it’s got either 6 or 8 50’s in the nose. No interest in gun pods or bombs. B-34 just has 2 x 7.92’s and 2 50’s in nose. Can cause some mischief with a bomber spawn.

First of all, if you find bombers boring then you miss the point of the plane type entirely. Large bombers are strategically important in destroying the objective and to have bombers in the game allows for some aspect of PVE without having moronic players making your life a complete mess.
On the other hand when you are in multiplayer, having a bomber prevents the game from turning into a dogfight match. Your version of what you want out of War Thunder is so One Dimensional and narrow sighted that I’m not surprised that all you do is complain. Having bombers means that the game isn’t just about fighters fighting fighters (which if that’s what you want there’s 50 other arcade games with that in mine) but about strategic planning with the need to eliminate objectives which are heavily defended. You can’t just have a game with just ground attack and fighters because at this point in War Thunder’s development game sizes are not limited to keeping strategic bombers out of the game. It’s there because it can be there.
I do find your opinion is still negated though because the Tu-4 is so much better relatively to this and somehow it’s played off as Russian Bias. Clearly you spend more time getting angry at every new bomber you have to nitpick every detail to make a sizeable video.
I also find disturbing that you are profiting off the suffering of a bomber because you decide to start witch hunting them over their apparent OPness. You realize the SP cost is ridiculous, right?
Last point I want to make: if fighters were assigned to protect bombers but ignore them instead to pick a dogfight, the real cancer would be those players. Just because these bombers exist in game doesn’t mean you have to pick on them for being useless, because they will help win you a match should you on their team, and them being a fighter magnet would allow fighters to go after ignorant enemies. If anything should be the case in this game, they need new high altitude aircraft that can work with and against it. It shouldn’t be a question of if it’s cancer or not.

I do my P-61 a little different. I immediately start WEP climbing at the start of the match, looking for dots as 90% of the time the sooner a dot appears the bigger the plane = most likely bomber. I'm typically at a 264 or BV's altitude before the chaos begins and can kill them head on, not having to worry about cleanup at the end of a match.
That's pretty much what I do when I see that there are a lot of bombers.
I played the Me 264 to spade it...
I got every single modifications without even using all of my free repairs. That already shows how powerfull the plane is.
Also, to everybody calling space climbing Me 264 pilot's out for thier actions: don't... After playing about 12 matches I have concluded that there is no good way to decend in the Me 264, you just can't dive from 6km to below 1km in less than about 10 minutes.
You can probably use the prop pitch airbrake on it.

Unrelated, but how should I aim at people in a tight corkscrew dive? Even larger planes like the Do335 I have a hard time hitting if they dive and corkscrew, even at close range. I usually aim where I think they're going to be in the corkscrew next, but maybe I should be aiming even farther ahead in the corkscrew and letting them run into my bullets?

Ironically enough, I know how to play and counter the me 264 since I have it, not to mention I also have the P-61, and its the BEST counter to the me 264 afaik.

its actually really cool because as far as I'm concerned that is exactly what that turret is meant to do, not as a defensive gunner but literally what you do is you fly under a plane and shoot them full of 50s. That's the actual tactic that was used by Black Widow pilots if Im not mistaken

Not sure if you'll fly it again Adam, but for your future P-61 matches, if you map a keybind to change controls mode, you can switch to simplified controls mode when in gunner view. This allows you to fly the P-61 with your keyboard just like when you're looking w the camera, but you can also turret-gun.

If you are within shooting range of its gunners you can just stay behind it to the right and the gunners can touch you as the central gunner looking right can only shoot upwards, it's the left one that can shoot downwards
(obviously I'm talking about approaching it from below, approaching it from behind it's the worst way possible as it can shoot you with 2-3x20mm)

At first I thought it was a bug, but then I realised that one could shoot above and the other one could shoot below, still pretty weird tho
8 times I died to P61s coming from that exact position and shooting me from there, at times I even had P61s outclimb me lol (don't know if it's because I didn't have it completely spaded)
One time me and other teammates with the same aircraft managed to get the bases + the af and win in like 6-7 mins
And the other times I died trying to land the thing
It has the weirdest flight model ever (someone I was arguing with said it's similar to the P61 when landing)
P61s have decent climb at altitude, better than a bomber.

They don't climb better than P61s, they just start like 2km higher.
Hi Adam, whenever i go into gunner view on my p61, it is locked on a level flight and i cant dive away from enemy planes, it keeps pitching up, goes on a level flight with slight climb and i want to gun down enemies behind me. Please help me what to do in the control settings. thanks

I've been doing that a lot lately, it's so satysfying to gunship with P61. Unfortunatelly, often i got too greedy, when i try to attack with 20mm to aggresively, Me 264 gets their 20mm Mg 151 turrets on me.
Nevertheless i contributed in controlling Me 264 population in major way.
I'ts nice (but difficult) to use P61 turret in dogfight with usefull planes. When you turnfight, with a fighter, you can switch to turret while continuing turning, and start to shoot the enemy. They either get crippled/killed with turret or start to panic, break off.

You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work!

Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT):
-Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
Have you ever tried the SM.91? I know it's listed as an attacker, but apparently it can make quite a good heavy fighter.

I used to do a similar thing to BV 238's with the B-34. Fly directly underneath them and shoot straight up with the turret.

@@AdamTheEnginerd it's plenty. With the B-34 vs BV 238 you have to get directly beneath them because of their firing arcs and I get a fair amount closer than you were getting in this video, but you can then shoot straight up into their wings and engines.
The added benefit of that matchup is that you can often bring at least one BV down before it drops bombs.

I had an encounter with Cancer 264 some time ago. Luckily both guys who were flying them decided to fight instead of running away forever.
Reminds me of a fight I had in mine while spading it. An I-185 dragged himself all the way up, and the other remaining 264 and I were taking turns kiting him and making gunship passes. Sadly enough (for us), neither of us were any good at aiming turrets, so the I-185 eventually turned off, but it was a fun little energy fight. (And for those that hate the 264, you can take satisfaction that neither of us lived through the match, the other guy died to a fighter and I crashed trying to land it after a separate gunfight with a Yer-2)

Climbs slightly worse than D30, but better roll and altitude performance. I prefer it over the current D30 FM.

Old video but still satisfying to watch! The Ju 288 C spam is all the rage these days and they are beyond annoying to kill! Dang things will sit at 7-8km doing 600+ kph and spray down anyone who attempts to get up there with them.

The only thing they had to do when they had the clear advantage in alt. was turning towards you.
I had a similar situation the Me but the p61 came with a spit so I couldnt turn back.
It would delay the death a bit, but they lose alt doing it too and that might let other fighters make a pass.
@@AdamTheEnginerd Remember that loosing alt is an advantage for the Me...
Usually the Me cant dive as fast as a fighter/ heavy fighter that interceps it, with the turn this problem could be solved because the Me is out of sight for a moment and can begin its descent earlyer.
This of course just works when the p61 is alone.

Another good way to deal with cancer bombers after the fighters are defeated is to hunt them with rockets. It takes a lot of practise, but there is nothing more satisfying than to see burn and break up instantly after one hit from over 2k.
Hurts your performance to carry them though.

My tactic is the following:
1: I climb to bomber altitude
2: I shoot down me 264s, he 111s, BV 238s and G4Ms
3: After doing that, I'll try to shoot heavy fighters (me 410s or bf 110s)
4: If they or a normal fighter shoot me down, I'll try to crash a delicately as possible in order to be able to use my turret
5: If I crash land correctly, I bait the enemy fighters and get easy kills
That's a very limited range turret on the ground.
Adam, I was wondering how you made your turn so clean. The low angle of attack turns so you retain energy. Is there some control I have to bind to do that or are you just really good at it?
No key bind, just practice. I started doing it frequently since the supersonic update.

I dogfight my ME264, i almost never climb to space, only on the beginning of the match, so i can drop pay load, then i always go down as fast as the plane handles, to go rearm. Sometimes when im confident i engage enemies who are harassing too much the allies, so to disperse and distract the enemy, it most often backfires and i end up getting shot. But there was some matches where i could fend off 3 planes and still land safely after
Better than climbing.
It seems like this is a better and safer tactic than my head-on and kill the pilot tactic in the P-38G, just because you have a lot more time to kill the damm planes.

-It can be new players to RB and dont really what they are doing, how to counter other planes or even play their own plane and get crushed by veterans with experience( my case, im a 3+ year player)
-Some planes lack power, speed and armament against it, the main issue is the unreal speed of the 264 ( can go 550-600 TAS wtf?)

To explain my KD a bit more, 70% of the time my attackers stayed still right behind me. And then they cry when thy got sniped 1.2km away by my 20s and i never ran away or even refused a fight with an incoming fighter and never climbed to space like those guys in your video. Those, I agree, are cancerous. At least you punished them ;)
I think this bomber should face 4.7 planes for balance. Also the repair cost is just....painful. 53K SL spaded....yikes
