Did Moe Norman have secrets? I'm not sure but if he did, it was his ability to get the club to impact consistently. He did this by maintaining an ideal relationship between the club and his body throughout his golf swing.
In this video I discuss Moe Norman's secret, the club-to-body relationship I call the pivot point.
About the Single Plane Golf Swing
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane. - กีฬา
This is just a post to Thank TG. At the end of the last two golf seasons, I saw improvement in my game. First year was irons, this year it's driver and putting. TG said something in a recent video to the effect of, "Don't take what I teach you at the range to the course". Man! What words to live your golf game by. In case anyone is on the fence about starting or even trying the Single Plane swing, please know that it works. It's an easier way to learn and play. I still come back to all the videos from when I first started watching. You will love playing golf even more! I could go on, but who would listen?
First one, SINGLE PLANE FOR THE WIN!
Taking it on the inside to plane the club is a real game changer. I must admit I questioned it at first as it goes against every thing I've ever been taught. The strike changed instantly. Thanks so much Todd!!
I’ve seen this before, but I’m realizing the importance. Thanks, Todd.
One of your all time best lessons Todd! Well explained!
Thank you
I started my first 100 balls with the single plane swing amazing results ball flight a bit higher doesn’t bother me I’m sticking with it I had 15 years of coaching and never improved now I’m stoked thank you for all your you tube videos
needed this . I was straying and this is EXACTLY why !!!!
Great!
Great video Todd!! Thanks 🙏 for all you do!!
Always, someone gives me a better way to understand the golf swing. Good lesson. Thanks
5:50 - Leveraging the club is a critical piece to the swing that most amateurs fail to do. Of course there's a lot more to the swing than just wrist cock, but this rarely happens for most amateurs because of two primary factors. First they don't create enough wrist cock and second their change of direction or X-factor is non-existent. They can't grasp the concept that the downswing starts BEFORE the upswing (backswing) is done, and that is by using the pelvis and hips to initiate the downswing, not the upper body or arms. Then comes sequence and synchronizing everything in proper order in the downswing as the next huge hurdle that most can't overcome either. Moe was awesome and so is the single plane swing, but regardless of single or two plane, some things MUST be done in both for best results.
Thanks Todd,,killing it this season using the single plane swing!
Glad to hear it. Thanks for letting me know.
What a great lesson!
Hi Todd
Keep persevering with the one plane swing and certainly improving through a better understanding of what Moe says. Particularly the emphasis on the pendulum effect the club handle being held in the right palm as opposed fingers. I also believe that although Moe hits the positions in the swing he also literally throws the club back in his backswing which no doubt creates a recoil effect and produces smooth speed in the downswing.
easy to understand!
Brilliant!
Would love to know if there is an angle that the club - any club - should be at the top of backswing.
I could go to backswing and have someone check with their phone or record swing and know if I am too upright or flat at top of backswing.
I have a question. I can maintain that pivot point relationship but I can alter the movement of the body to make the clubface either stay perpendicular to the plane or I can keep it perpendicular to the ground - similar to angled or horizontal hinging concept of The Golfing Machine. The pivot works a bit different to keep that relationship for both. I have seen Moe's coin drill where he shows that the back of his left hand and clubface appear perpendicular to ground. Is this what is happening in his actual stroke?
When you take it back, do you think Moe kept the club pointing towards the plane line?
Hi Todd, Wondering why the club is so far behind the ball at address??
I notice you don't use Moe's grip , do you think the interlock is better?
I use Moe’s overlapping hand position - that he won every tournament with. I recommend overlapping hand position
@@ToddGravesGolf but in other videos he promotes the baseball grip. confused.
Every journey begins with a single (plane) step. Getting off on the right foot means maintaining the club to body relationship. (Pun intended...lol)
It doesn't matter what I do. I get the address correct and I take the club back correct, but when I fold up I can't for the life of me stop thinning the ball. I've watched all your videos. Read the book. I just can't figure it out at all.
toddg@gravesgolf.com - I can coach you but need to see your swing.
I want to be a guest in a video.
come to Oklahoma.
@@ToddGravesGolf soon! I thought you were in Kitchener-Waterloo. That flight from Toronto is a bit of a vacation expense.
No one looks like this on tour ? The swing looks goofy
You have to ask yourself, do I want to look like a good ball striker, or do I actually want to be a good ball striker? If you just want to look the part then don't watch Moe videos.
This is about Simplicity and Biophysics. Spend your time understanding why and become great - not trying to look like anyone.
Guess stricker; dechambeau and the 6’ 6” kid who was leading open and number one amateur are “goofy” then; goofy $$ and dominating their tours are “goofy” too!!
@@billeppright4802 you think Bryson looks like moe??? They look nothing alike Bryson swings and practices fundamentals taught through a book called the golfing machine
Well back to your original point; he is a lot closer to moe then the “pga model” and yes he has studied moe and incorporates lots of moe; and in the words of most pga “experts” his swing is “goofy” his method is “goofy” he will not have the distance to last on tour and his same length irons are “goofy” and will not work. The amateur is almost moe and they don’t know what to say.
Moe Norman's backswing was a STRETCH. Not a turn. I respect you Todd but you havent figured it out bro.
It's all been measured. Moe Norman rotated his pelvis -40 degrees and his torso -95 degrees in the backswing. At impact he was +25 with his torso and + 30 with his pelvis. All golf swings are rotational. Even Moe's.
@@ToddGravesGolf Moe rotated his shoulders. Only. The pelvis is stretched and rotated into position via his backswing move. Deep down you know this… I’m not the first one to tell you
@@peterdutton3193 Shoulders? Torso? Stretched. Not sure I follow you here. But, geat news, it's a free world, you can believe whatever you like.
Yeah he hasn’t figured it out…so ridiculous. GG only been doing this around 30 years
Stretch the pelvis?? Get an anatomy book
