    Flannel Shirts are pretty much a staple of autumn and winter. Can`t really beat it for the practicality.

    A solid colored Flannel is under rated. They can look nice and are more or less a working man's/family man's dress shirt.

    There is nothing wrong with it looking like work wear. Flannel was originally made to be worked in.

      As long as this is the look you're looking for, fine. I liked the note about work wear because I never could put a finger on why certain flannels put me off: it's the flapped pocket!

    Great video and tips. I mostly wear my flannels more in the hipster or outdoorsman camp, but that is mostly because I never really considered how to wear flannel with more of a gentleman's take. Now I'm thinking I'll pick up a more subtle flannel and give it a try. Thanks!

  • @Officialhelpkenet
    @Officialhelpkenet 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I usually wear my flannel shirts for when I'm going to be outdoors a lot and for physical work. I think flannel is most well-suited for that. I also break the rules by sometimes wearing a t-shirt underneath that shows a the top buttons. This is firstly because it's a very casual work shirt so the look works I think. And secondly because the original wool flannel shirts weren't supposed to be worn as the bottom layer since wool is itchy and warm.

    I needed this video, particularly with its references to LL Bean. For my Bean shirts and other items seem to get more compliments than almost anything else (even when they're older than the people I'm speaking to), and I've made a firm decision to start incorporating them into my "smart" wardrobe.
    And to think that this vid was only put up YESTERDAY!? This is just the right video for me, at just the right time.

    I would quite enjoy hearing the Gentleman's Gazette/the fellow viewers opinion on Wellensteyn jackets/coats.
    While being mostly made from synthetic materials and in China, i found that they impress with their iconic look, rich brand history and quality/reputation for a comparably low price tag.
    A "is it worth it?" Video would probably help quite a broad audience even outside of GG as the brand enjoys popularity throughout all different social classes.

    Thank you as I always learn something usefull from your videos. I wear flannel mostly as work wear both as the main layer but also as an outer extra layer in cooler weather. My one criticism which I consider a major mistake especially if you are dressing up your flannel style is with the gray and blue Orvis shirt. The first thing I noticed and my eyes kept being drawn to every time you showed the shirt is that the pattern was not straight across the front. When it was produced the two halves of the front were not properly aligned. That shirt has to go back as to me it indicates poor quality. Dan.

I'm thinking it's not such a bad idea for some young men, who are trim like yourself, to comfortablely wear the flannel shirts neatly outside the pants, especially if they are cut for that. On the subject of choosing better quality plaid patterns; notice that the plaids are not aligning on some these shirt fronts; especially the black and white plaid that he has displayed so often.
    The alignment of the plaids needs to show thoughtful construction.
    The line across the buttoned front should absolutely line up.
    The plaid of the sleeves should be reasonably aligned with the pattern of the body panel.
    Just come thoughts …
