It's downright incredible that Housemarque's first attempt at a big AAA game ended up being literally perfect. Returnal immediately became my favourite game ever made and I don't think it's truly left my mind once since I first played it.
Wouldn't call it perfect. The guns still have balance issues, the game is too short and has insufficient content (evidenced by what was cut), low customization options, numerous low value consumables, etc. But I'm nitpicking as I have to say it's one of the best game I've played.

I doubt anyone from Housemarque will read these comments.. But they absolutely deserve to be proud of their creation. Returnal is a masterpiece that should be remembered and celebrated.

I can listen to this man talk for hours. Returnal is my favorite ps5 game and one of my favorites of all time.

Just finished the game (Aug,'23) after starting it at launch and taking a break after hitting a wall...man so worth it.
One of the most creative and enjoyable games I have played in 30 years of gaming, it’s tough you have no idea what you are doing and learn as you go and there is so much depth to the game and you discover that as you progress, it’s also a demanding game on Pc if you want to run it at 4k 60fps on high settings, I have a 2080ti and to get a rock solid 60fps I have to use 1440p as even the slightest frame drop can get you killed in this game.
Your main defense is a dash where you are invunrable during it and a long blade for Malay attacks and the level of movement is unparalleled in any other game.
GOTY 2021 🏆

I ended up falling in love with Returnal and becoming completely addicted to it enough to earn the platinum trophy. I'm saddened to hear Harry has decided to leave HM
Amazing game👏👏👏 I'm still playing it to this day even though I have brand new games in my collection I haven't even taken the shrink wrap off and opened. Testament to how good the game is in terms of replay value. Even though I already platinumed the game I still found myself wanting to return to the game setting new targets. Just have to get the last 2 ciphers from the tower of Sisyphus to fully translate the alien language. After that I'll still probably go back to the game to unlock everything else, level up all the guns and get the last 2 data cubes.

RETURNAL is one of the best PS5 game.
If anyone already acquired PS5 and still doubt on this game, please try to play this is really fun game, obviously at the beginning it’s hard as hell but once you learn how mechanics works then you’ll be addicted to the cycle😃
Not one of, it still is the best at the moment. Even the likes of ragnarok and forbidden west haven’t topped it

A bit odd to say he wasnt basing the game mechanics on anything else in terms of controls run and jump etc. But its clearly similar to risk of rain 2. The early selene model even looks like the commando. There are also clear doom inspirations and even a BFG hommage
Man what an amazing inauguration this video is. It’s astounding to see where games are these days. Getting the respect they have really always deserved. Game design is at its core, truly complex engineering, critical thinking & problem solving through iteration and most importantly, highly collaborative art.

I'm not good at fighting games nor racing games and I don't play them, simple.
@@camila_costa12 i am not ashamed of anything. i beat the game. but it is--objectively speaking--the stupidest idea not to include the *option* of checkpoints. absolutely ridiculous.
@@gurpchirp But there is a way to save at those big circular thingies. I finished the game, my start with it was full of rage quits and screaming at the monitor, but time did it's thing, you understand the mechanics and prevail. Games are a vision... just watch.
You’re looking at it the wrong way. Essentially the starting point is the checkpoint. That’s how games like this work. Sure you’re starting from the beginning, but you still gain new things each time (usually), even if it’s just a new item discovery that will be unlocked/possible to find early on in the next run that can help you take that further step. Not to mention they do also have the option of the reviving machine in each biome. As well as being able to skip to further biomes you’ve been to as soon as you find the gate each time. It’s not completely starting over. You should look at each run as progress, because it is.
