Really really useful on me! thank you for sharing most detail tutorial, especially the prepare step of the "text" before boolean and bevel after boolean, I thought that was my fail reason when I boolean and bevel objects.
@@5MinutesBlender Your welcome and must say you are one of the easiest videos to follow on here for Blender... About %99 of my learning comes from here :)
You need to hide the original text in render, or you can remove it as well if you have finalized everything. Then the text won't show up in the render output, only the engraves form will display.
Add a material to your text object. Before you add the boolean modifier to the box, select the box and go to its material slots. Add a new material slot and select the text material in this new slot. Now add the boolean modifier to the box as shown in the tutorial. The engraved text will have its own material instead of the box color.

very helpful tutorials.good job sir . which blender version do you used for this tutorial? i started learning blender version 3.2.2 . if i update blender version 3.4.1 is good for me or i learn first using same version. which is good for me ? I'm sorry for my questions.
I'm glad you liked our tutorial. We used 3.4 version for this tutorial although it works with previous or later versions as well. There are not many differences between 3.4.1 or 3.2 if you are new to Blender, you can use either of them. But if your hardware is not a big issue, I strongly recommend you to always use the latest version that is available from Blender site because even if the functional changes are less, the menu options can drastically change between two versions. So it is definitely better to start with the latest version and keep working with the latest version always. You will remain up to date. In case your hardware does not support, you can stay with 3.2, not a problem.
Some models (long text or hi-poly) can a long time, I mean a minute or two is ok. Did it run for say 10 minutes? Then it is not normal. The front face is not so important, it takes time if the topology of the text is not good. Once possible solution would be to use geometry nodes to create your text object. We also made a tutorial on that 👉 th-cam.com/video/5SRiESHQkmY/w-d-xo.html
In the boolean modifier, please expand the section called Solver Options and enable Self Intersection and/or Hole Tolerance and/or both. If it still does not work, switch over to the Fast mode and check if it resolves the issue. If still not solved, please let us know.
@@FlameChampionLuc Can you please send your blend file to us (5minblender@gmail.com) so that we can look into it and suggest a better fix? Your model may have some special geometry that needs a different handling.
Yes, theoretically it should be possible with an image too. But to have it work with an image, you need to convert your image into a mesh and add a solidify modifier to add some thickness to it. Use the Exact mode with hole tolerance and self intersection turned on for better results.
You need to first convert your logo into a 3D object. Then the rest of the process will remain the same. To convert the logo into a 3D object you can check this tutorial 👉 th-cam.com/video/12YuQj48sr0/w-d-xo.html
Before you export, you can simply delete the object that is hidden. Keep a copy of the original blend file in case you want to preserve that hidden part somewhere (and later you can append it to the current blend file).
Do I need the latest stable version atm: 3.4.1 to do this? I ask because Geometry Nodes is VERY sensitive to Blender version given Blender Studio changes things or behaviors so often and/or dramatically it really does make a difference... There are times in the Blenderverse because it's so obtuse and opaque, if something fails I can't determine if it was me or Blender... (I assume it's me until proven otherwise, but that's most likely because my mom was mean.)
This technique works throughout all the recent versions of Blender. You are correct that Geometry Nodes have been going through a roller coaster ride, but the other parts of Blender are relatively stable since version 3.
@@5MinutesBlender I just was directed to a version of 3.5 by Samuel Sullins that actually can render (1 test so don't hold me to it...) from NOVEMBER 23rd! after I merge by distance, the hole in the d in "Adams" is not hollow anymore. i am going to 3d print this and dont know how to fix. i can email a screenshot if needed.
Hi, there can be several ways to solve it depending upon what end result you want to achieve. But in this case, when you do merge by distance, I suggest you deselect the vertices that make that inner hole of d. That will ensure that the merge has no effect on that hole. If you want to send us the file, send the blend file. We can check and suggest a better technique if any.
It depends on the topology of your object/text. There are other ways to achieve the same result that we are trying to do through Limited Dissolve, but it needs a manual inspection. You can send your half-finished blend file (before doing a limited dissolve) to 5minblender@gmail.com so that we can verify it and suggest a suitable solution. Thanks!
@@5MinutesBlender Thank you so much for your response and willingness to help! You can skip it as well and proceed. If you later discover an issue during the bevel operation, you can use our bevel shader nodes instead (we have published a tutorial on this today). If you send your model to 5minblender@gmail.com we can investigate if the root cause of the problem can be removed.

is there a way where we can see ALL the modifiers (boolean, or others) applied to ANY object in your scene/project? So that we may delete, or edit, them directly? I had applied many subdivision modifiers to to various curved objects in order to make the curves actually look curvy and not "edged". prob is that I didn't know what I was doing I guess (I added values 5 to 6 for the Viewport, while kept the Render ones to 2) and Blender kept crashing. Before I knew it my .blend file was nearly 2 GB (HUGE...) and the app kept crashing (and I kept reopening it an opening the auto-saved file). I ASSUME that the modifiers are what made my .blend file so huge. Right? So, if there's a way where we can open up our .blend file in blender, see a list of all modifiers in use, delete - or edit - them directly from there (and hopefully 'lighten" my project up a bit)?
We can see all the modifiers in the Modifier tab, no? But yeah, if you apply a modifier - then it creates a permanent change and it disappears from that list. In that case I don't think there is a way to know which modifiers were added or applied.
