      So long as there's bad men than need a bloody big knife in the gut, it'll never be a dead skill.

    • @dauntless0711
      @dauntless0711 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I'm not sure. The bayonet is an intimidating weapon, since it conveys an eagerness to close with the enemy. That alone may be enough to send some bad guys running.
      The bolt action is antiquated, but could be the best fighting rifle for one who knows nothing about guns living in an open rural area, given their simplicity, ruggedness, and reliability. If that is the case, then it may be necessary to close with the bayonet to compensate for its weaknesses as a last resort. A knife on a stick is so simple that anyone can use it, and most bad guys probably aren't trained in how to deal with it.
      Of course, that's a lot of what ifs. It's smarter to invest in a modern fighting rifle for those concerned about living in particularly dangerous areas, but I still say it's better than nothing for an average Joe.

      @Delta547 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, no skill is dead till you can kill somebody using it.
      Also it's not only about skill, as almost everything in basic training - mostly psychology.

    Does the Black dude wear camo paint too? [Genuine question, not trying to be racist or anything, My neighbours dogs previous owners milkmans friend is black]

    • @Generalscorpio
      @Generalscorpio 7 ปีที่แล้ว +77

      Yes, because it breaks up the contours of his face, blurs his features and helps him blend into undergrowth.

    • @zod65
      @zod65 7 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      It also helps to mask the natural shine any face has when applying the camo paint. That is for all skin colors.

      The point of camouflage is to break up any unnatural patterns or lack there of in nature. Just as there are no completely white elements in nature there aren't completely black ones either, so it's the same effect. The camouflage would break up the unnatural contours of his face in accordance with nature.

      Simple: Join the army. The reason national service was abolished is because we don't have a need for a large standing army like after WW2 and a volunteer force is far more professional.

    So for my bayonet training my csm asked a lad who is the devil, to which the lad replied, 'you'. Csm wasn't happy. Then we were "captured" and one lad slipped his plasticuffs and went into a red mist rage thinking it was what they wanted from him. We went around that bayonet range who knows how many times with grenade being called every two seconds, visiting Helmand and so on.
    And then when we got off we discovered one lad shit himself and we were crawling through his shit when going through the mud and crap. I got some of that in my mouth man ha.
    As rats as it was at the time, it was a great laugh and a good memory.

    In the American army charging with a bayonet is a last ditch act of desperation. The bayonet is used when you're almost out of ammo, you're totally surrounded, and your position is about to be overrun. But they don't tell the recruits that.
