im starting to think Lazerpig drunkenly broke in and the Tank Museum staff couldn't get him to leave, so they got him to talk about his top tanks until he sobered up

After years of hearing this drunk rambling on about military hardware & geopolitical nonsense, my mind developed a very distinct image of what he looks like IRL. Turns out I was spot on and the guy in the video is a dead ringer of what I pictured. Crazy what you can learn about someone’s appearance just by listening to them talk.
The guy behind the camera laughing at the end is just the perfect cap for this wonderful collaboration. I can't fathom how they made the decision to let this man loose on the museum, but I'm so glad they did.
I would imagine they had seen and laughed at lazerpigs unique history-comedy.
And they knew they could not replicate it as good as it should be, but they had a bunch of tanks that would be prime material for this sort of comedy. so they got the only man capable of doing it justice, lazerpig himself.
And it was the right choice.
Lazerpig is one of a kind. He's a blast, as well as being pretty knowledgeable.

I am pretty sure that far from preventing it, they actually GAVE him a bottle of vodka...or maybe even some ridiculous proof rum...and ENCOURAGED him to "just be yourself." I would suggest that they might have taken away Lazer's meds for the day...to give him that extra bit of extra...but that might get me in hot water with the NHS, or something...and that is a can of physician assistants I don't want to open.😂😜

This actor's voice and mannerisms are spot on, and using the outfit to hide the lack of pig ears and tail was genius; the main giveaway was just the sobriety.
I bet these guys had a lot of fun filming with LP, the way he can go from being seriously thought out in his arguments on why he likes each tank in the list, to ranting nonsensically in the most comedic way, just aces. Plus that Drip is top tier

The fact that your second favorite tank is the T-72 simply because it was made out of sheer pride, and is an abysmal failure is just fantastic really.
Not really, it was a good tank when it was first built during the what late 60s and 70s, but today standards it’s out classed, plus it and the T-64 were the first tanks to have composite armour, while NATO were still fielding M60s with just cast solid armour, wasn’t until the Abrams when US used composite armour. Plus in desert storm the US was going up against sand monkeys who didn’t know how to use there tanks compared to the Russians, only problem with modern age for the T-72 is the advancement of modern weapons, and the T-72 is just outclassed today, why so many T-72 tanks have been destroyed, meanwhile fewer T-80s and T-90s have been destroyed cause there more advanced and can stand up to better to modern weapons
I am not even into tanks. I've never once had a conversation about tanks with anyone, thought about tanks outside of when there was some reason for them to be newsworthy, or could tell the difference between any one tank and another.
Yet I stumble across Lazerpig one day and now here I am, watching a tank tier list on the Tank Museum's TH-cam channel.
This man shows up to the tank museum with more drip than should be possible on the British Isles.

Have to admit the analogy of the brick being made into a sphere was brilliant. Growing up all I heard was how great the Tiger was and how bad the Sherman was, but as I studied more and learned more I realized why the Sherman is quite good for what it was designed for.

Well so was the Tiger. Proved it numerous times from North Africa, to Russia to Normandy. However, it was sometimes used in roles it was not designed for.
Neither tank was crap.
And for the same reason the T 72 is remembered as one of the great tanks of the 20th century and of the new century. Designed with overarching strategic concerns warfare in mind it has adequate to above average tactical characteristics, but is best optimized for transport, repair, and production.

The Matilda II actually found a new lease on life in the Pacific with the Australians, the Japanese had little to nothing capable of taking it on.

The Matilda II wasn't a terrible tank. It was just a dead-end design - too small, underpowered, undergunned - with no capacity to have its flaws ironed out. People tried, but it was just easier to design a new tank altogether.
However, the Matilda was in its element when it was allowed to move slowly and bully tanks smaller than itself, because under such conditions it was basically invincible. In the dense jungle terrain of Pacific islands, the Japanese hated it because their usual anti-tank weapons and tactics were almost useless against it.

The reason is production date and lend-lease; nothing else. The Churchill and Valentine both fought on every front for the duration of the war as well. The Germans still used the Panzer II until the very end.

I usually only take half seriously this guy and I think that's what he usually wants, but his choice of ''loving'' the T-72 and derivatives because it's a bad tank and the tank of choice for the baddies since more than 30 years so it's a positive thing for the West is pure genius, one of the best moment of this series.

Reading the title of the video was one of those "Wait, what? moments. Surprised he didn't bother to dress up for the occasion though.
The story of the Challenger 2 being immobilised, then pelted (ineffectively) with RPG's for ages before being rescued, lives rent free in my head. Imagine firing multiple anti-tank rockets at a tank at close range and the crew are so unphased they can just carry on making a brew..
That's the sort of gear you want to go to war in, the absolute trust and confidence in your kit gives a massive morale boost

I have seen a King Tiger sitting right next to a T-72 at a museum staging motorpool and the King Tiger was so amazingly huge, dwarfing the T-72 which isn't a small tank itself. Got special access because i worked on and was dropping off a 1:1 scale M5 Stuart replica to the museum, awesome day!

How could you? Matilda II is the cutest tank ever. It was the cutest tank when it was marginally effective in 1941 and remains the cutest tank long after anyone would dream of using it in combat. It will still be the cutest tank in the far future when Space Marines battle exoskeletal aliens using psi-cannons and tanks are displayed next to chariots in the Museum of Prehistory.

As a Yank, I made a point when I was over the pond earlier this year to set aside a day, take the train from London to Bovington, and visit the Tank Museum. Best. Day. Ever! Bring your comfortable shoes and a fully charged camera - you'll need both. I still need my Tank Museum Christmas ornament you were out of!

To be fair, during the Gulf War the M60 also performed flawlessly, with only one tank lost to enemy action.

Coming back to this video, I gotta say lazerpig nailed being a presenter in front of a camera. I'm sure there were loads of takes and a lot of practice but he made it look easy. Props to The tank museum for such a great collaboration.
