One of my favorite days of my entire life was when I made an unplanned trip to Mt. Yoshino (after overhearing two people talking about it in a coffee shop in Kyoto the day before). I had never heard of Yoshino, but knew immediately that I needed to go if I could make it happen. Hopped on the train early the next morning and hiked up the whole thing during peak cherry blossom season. From there, I rushed over to Nara Park to feed the deer, and then over to Osaka for late night ramen after a long day. I will never forget that day, so thank you for producing this beautiful video and taking me back there. Great work, as always. (I just wish I had my drone at the time of my visit!!)

Covid has stymied my return to Japan twice over the past year and a half now, it's a wonderful morning seeing a Hannah video show up. It's snowing here in Canada at the moment, spring snow, but a warm cup of coffee and your content will warm this day right up!

Sakura season is definitely a different season when you’ve survived a Japanese winter (especially as a qld’er/ Australian) living in an apartment with thin uninsulated walls... I can go outside! I can feel my toes again! People are having boozy little picnics in beautiful parks! It’s a great time.

Yoshino-yama is a fabulous place. I visited on the first of my 5 trips to Japan. There are supposedly 30,000 cherry blossom trees there, and 27,997 had not started to flower. So it was great to see the drone footage of so many trees in full bloom. However, the Sakura in the Kyoto Imperial Palace gardens were in full flower, as were those at Inokashira-koen Park.
This is off the subject. Inokashira-koen Park does not seem to feature in tourist information but it is a stunningly beautiful place. The trees surround a lake and when I visited the petals had started to fall and were coating the water.
The park inspired a song by singer-songwriter Maiko Fujita (Inokashirasen). The railway line runs along one boundary of the park, and it's how you get there by rail. If you're ever in Tokyo you should check it out - it's about 30 mins by rail from central Tokyo.

You wondered how to describe Spring in Japan - well you showed it in a fantastic way in your video! Love the mochi - both the snack and the hamster! Through imagination I think I enjoyed the sakura mochi more than you! Thank you! Great to see you so happy.

Yoshino❤. Been a couple of times on train from Osaka. Trains will be full at the weekend so buy a ticket in advance, otherwise you have to go part way and change. As Hannah says, Google maps will guide you 👍. English speakers outside the station will help and give you a map. Take the bus to the middle station then walk up to the viewing platform area, then walk down the path through the trees to the village. FABULOUS!,

@@tommykay7427 haha I don’t think I can complain compared to your weather in Sweden, we had a relatively mild winter this year in Michigan. I remember even 10 years ago winters would be crazy, tons of snow all the time. This year we got 2 “big” storms, barely 6 inches (roughly 16 cm) during one and 4 inches (10 cm) the other. Winter in Michigan gets more and more boring, seems weird to say that cause I was just complaining about snow a few weeks ago. But I miss having full on blizzards and multiple feet of snow, like we did when I was a kid.
