Damn, *the* last SR lancer? I guess when your power is literally reality, it does things to the continuation of the 4 star lancer bloodline in the throne of heroes.
From what i've seen:
Don Quixote's NP is designed to use it when he has a chain attack ready, preferably 2 Quick cards, to create a Quick Chain, then build up enough charge with his 2 Quick cards and extra attack to dump more stars by reaching 30% charge to fuel a giga crit turn with all the stars possible along with the team wide crit buff. So he's mostly made for 3 Lancer crit spam teams where everyone has some sort of crit buff and/or passive star gen to just aggressively crit spam.
But that really sucks for CQs due to support servants being OP, so this is mostly a fun gimmick for farming gameplay where you got tired of looping and want to crit spam instead.

Silly Fino, Donkey Oatey does not want to be supported by an ice queen, he wants a fair princess shut in her castle. I mean Osakabehime and her hybrid Buster/Quick up on np and crit synergy. They work together like peanut butter and ramen.
one fix that could work for his third skill (the NP gauge sharing one), is make it so that it still drains all of DQ's meter but gives the same magnitude to everyone else and not just 30%

The weird timing that both of Fino's Guide for Don Quixote and Constantine got outdated.
In a way, Don Quixote's Second Noble Phantasm "Triste Suave Alonso Quijano" in the Traum story reminds me of Satsuki Yumizuka's Reality Marble "Depletion Garden". Where their effects looks similar to me where Don Quixote's places the target where in a place where any Mystery will become normal while Sacchin drains the Mana around where its lethal against Magi and others who use Mana.

I love the story of Don Quixote and his presence in the story was good as well. But the actual servant? Geeze. If his kit is going to be like this at least make him a 3*
Don Quixote is very likeable in the story that I tried to get him, but my luck is too strong that I easily got Ruler Moriarty.

Don Q is fantastic as a character. As a unit, though? Well, he won't be replacing my NP3 Percy anytime soon. Very fitting and tragic for him to not live up to a bonafide knight, both in the lore and in practice.

Im monkey brained. i saw a battery icon on skill 3 clicked it at 80% and figured out oops it drains all of the np and only gives 30% to all allies like a reverse melt lancer
Easiest way of using his charge is obviously on first wave, where he can have exactly 30% himself and where it helps your main dps and support to reach their np easier. And Don will have two turns to reach 100% after that.

From my brief experience testing him, the one situation where his third skill is actually not bad is if you have a turn with a lot of Quick crits. If you're running Caster Skadi, his gains will be high enough that there's a very good chance he'll re-gain all the battery he dumps on that turn and then some (this is of course assuming that you don't have some way of getting him to NP on that turn, probably in one of the follow-up turns after his first NP). Skadi's NP is really good offensively, so it's well worth it to give her something like a kscope and use this to try and charge it up, imo.
So this is what its like for your culture to be represented in fate. Don quijote has been a formative part pf folklore for me and apart from the weirdness i expected from nasu its fairly spot on.

Ofc i recomend anyone to read the two volumes of Quijote, its not as much a glorious story as how the english literature academics tried to portray it. Its more like a mixture of satire and existentialism, its meant to be fairly silly but still thought provoking
I got the Don wih only 1 sq and I'm especially happy to have him because he's one of my targets this year.
The biggest crime is DQ being story locked, I'm still reading Traum and I enjoy his character, I'd like to add him to my rooster even if he's not that good, but I'm saving for other servants and there's no way I'll ever dwell in the story gacha.

damn nvm they literally just buffed his third skill. actually fixes all the issues - he just gets to charge the party for free now, and gets an extra damage mod against super giant enemies.

For anyone that still wants him but doesn’t want to use their SR ticket next year you have 2 options: New Years he comes back with Saber Stolf. And after that you have to wait for CBC 2026 for him and Charlie.
Or you can go for option C and roll Story like a lunatic.

You'd think by the 7-8 year of its life FGO would have down how to design characters gameplay wise but then here comes Quixote to prove us Lasagna can flop a character kit real hard even this deep in the game.
Just look at half of the buffs we get.
They legit have 0 care about how usable servants are.
They will buff np dmg for chargeless aoe servants or a defensive buff for servants who lack dmg and gain to be used in daily content.
@@GS_CCC All servants are usable unless you want to go for the harder quests, which usually just means bloated hp bars with the same kit, and at that point, why even bother?
@@davidcardozo290 I mean usable for the repeatable content like 3T or 1T farm 6-slot(basic f2p comp efficiency) since that is 99.9% of the gameplay.
For CQs everyone is more than enough.
For a character collecting game having a good portion of your favorites be only used like once or twitch a month really sucks, at least the 1T ordeal call nodes really helped with that.
@@GS_CCC To be fair it's unrealistic to have all 400 servants on equal footing. It's not just a balancing nightmare, but it's also a ridiculous amount of possibilities for such a simple game loop.
@@GS_CCC Also, if a player can only bring their favorites once or twice a month, that's their problem. The grailing mechanic exists for the sole purpose of making said favorite stronger, same with the command codes, fous and paws.
And about the farming lobotomy, I don't know what to tell you man, fga exists, and again, it's the players choice if they go with the typical 3 turn max efficiency brain rot. Or you know, just let fga running in the background while you are doing your life in peace. Maybe I'm crazy.
