Living in the Hudson Heights area of Washington Heights, Mother Cabrini is still a presence here. I walk by St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Shrine almost everyday, I'm very glad her story has been put to film. Thank you for featuring this film and her story.
Not sure if I ever told you this, but as a side hustle I'm a religious travel writer. I've traveled to religious sites all over the world, and I love to track down more obscure places. Mother Cabrini is entombed at a shrine in upper Manhattan. Very interesting place.
My favorite line in this: "the pimp will be fine." Hahahaha! Madison, loved your encouragement not to give up on your dreams. I self-published a poetry book ("Legacy") a few years ago. Never thought that would happen. Plus I now have a song video on TH-cam. Can't believe it!!!
Madison, what a wonderful surprise it was to see this new title being reviewed/reacted by you. Still in the process of wrapping up seeing some 2023 movies. But thank you so much for giving us a heads up on this film. Looking forward to seeing the full version.
The Anti-Catholicism that existed then and exists today is the most under told story to be approached and told by Hollywood and the Entertainment industry. That is why a film such as this is so different and refreshing.
The truth is that the majority of Italian immigrants came from the poorest area of Italy (South of Naples) and their government was happy to be rid of them. They did not bother to even issue passports, so they came to America Without Passport (which is where the term WOP came from).
Thanks for sharing Madison! I luv the music in this movie. Learned alot about Cabrini from this movie! My Italian is very very rusty.😂😂 Glad it had subtitles. 😁❤️💛
I heard the director interviewed by Glenn Beck earlier today say he preferred to film this in black and white, but got told no. If done right, black and white pops and has a crisp and sharp look. Schindler's List, The Train, and My Darling Clementine for examples. Now, with this film they're neck deep in a place called "Five Points", which if you remember from "The Sting" Robert Shaw's character Doyle Lonnegan was from there and what a horrible place it was ("Ya' folla'?"). So next time I watch The Sting this will be what I think of.
Hey Mad, if you liked the mood and setting of this film, you might check out another film set in 1920s New York - "The Immigrant" with Marion Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner.
How Mother Cabrini cared for the Italian people is how I feel for the Armenian and Pakistani Christians. Over a hundred thousand Armenians lost their homes because the world didn't care. I'm nobody special, but I will also do everything I can to help them. I hope the world stops worrying about what is politically expedient and focus more on doing what is right.
Great Reactions 🎉 I'm just wondering if you have considered a reaction to "Hondo" starring John Wayne, but many others shined just a little brighter. Thanks for your reactions. 😊
Hi Madison, New Subscriber here. Have you seen Hacksaw Ridge yet? If not, I highly recommend it. I just found your channel yesterday, so I'm going back to the earlier reactions. We need more Christian reactors on YT. Do you have a list somewhere of things you've seen so I don't recommend repeats? Thanks for doing this. ❤😊
The first 1 or 2 scenes were a little heavy handed in trying to draw sympathy, etc. A child pushing his dying/dead mother in a cart and no one acknowledging him, even fellow Italians. Then the cop dismissing him and calling them monkeys. I mean, I wasn't there.. but as a filmmaker I think I would have been a little more creative/subtle. Other than that, I enjoyed the film. The lead actress was great.

That line cracked me up too😂 Congrats on publishing your poetry - that's an awesome achievement!
Great job, Madison. Thanks for the heads up on this powerful, upcoming film. Very much looking forward to seeing this film.
I just got out of the theater! I must have cried through half the movie lol
Bawled my eyes out through half this movie

Excellent reaction, Madison! Your caring, as well as Mother Cabrini's, comes out in it!

Five Points.. same location where Gangs of New York was set in the 1840s/1860s.
Excellent review! I am so glad you enjoyed it😊
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Myra!❤

I hope you watch the Bladerunner sequel: Bladerunner 2049.
Also, please react to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom😃
