  • Popstalgia at Billing Aquadrome in Northamptonshire UK is a show that is dedicated to Ford Popular, Prefect, Fordson, Pilot, Y Type, but also welcomes all hot rods, customs and classic vehicles.
Affectionately known as the Ford Pop, the Ford Popular was a motor car manufactured in England by the Ford Motor Company between 1953 and 1962.
When production of the older Ford Anglia and Ford Prefect was stopped in 1953 the Popular 103E was introduced as a less expensive alternative and was very basic. When it was launched, it was Britain's lowest priced car.
In 1959 a new version, the 100E was introduced. The name was originally used by Ford to describe its 1930's Y Type model. It was later used on basic models of the Escort and Fiesta.
Because of the lightweight construction, since the 1950's people started to use the 100E as hot rods, a role it still plays today.
A record of the event filmed over the weekend 9th - 11th September 2022.

Great video. Might try and go to this year's event, if it doesn't clash with the Euro finals.

Thank you for watching and commenting. Not sure if, where or when it's taking place during 2023.

Why does nobody hot rod the original Anglia E04A? Looks virtually the same as the pop.

Hi Phil, thank you for watching and commenting. There's a tremendous amount of footage where you only hear the sound of the vehicles or the prize giving sequence. Sadly it would have been impossible to have just the original sound throughout. For example, the arrival section at the beginning, when the weather was not good, although I have used some of the original soundtrack, without the music the recording would have consisted of a lot of rain and wind noise. Whist filming most of the shots of the static vehicles, getting the close ups etc. music was being played over the speakers to the showground. So the original soundtrack consisted of disjointed, bits and pieces of songs. Most motoring program would include some form of music over footage of vehicles and I believe what we have got here is a good balance for a general audience. Thanks again. Andy
