  • How DR Congo $80BN Grand Inga Dam will provide 40% of energy supply in Africa - The Grand Inga Dam project, touted as having the potential to supply green electricity to most of Africa have received a fresh boost, after Australian mining company Fortescue Metals Group, confirmed its alliance with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to invest in the development of the world's largest hydroelectric project in Africa. The Grand Inga Dam project is a proposed series of seven hydroelectric power stations near the Inga Falls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The project is a colossal $80 billion enhancement of the existing 351 MW Inga 1 and 1,424 MW Inga 2 plants, which were completed in 1972 and 1982, respectively. The ultimate goal is to construct a complex capable of energy supply for the entire sub-Saharan region with a cumulative output capacity 42 GW electricity generation. Upon completion, the project would be the world's largest power plant and would generate more electricity than the world’s two biggest hydropower plants, Three Gorges in China and Itaipu in South America, combined.

A very big debt trap! Do like below instead.
For about 2B, not 80B, can get DRC 7 times more power, than the current
      production.
You can just use 0,2B whit turbine and installation, and make a 20km
tunnel under the DRC Capital. And you increase DRC Hydroelectric production
from 8TWh to about 18TWh. Hydraulic head is 20m.
Do not forget that, you have one more Capital city 2miles away.
Grand Inga: You only need 6km tunnel to pass this waterfall. Make 3
tunnels for the price of about 0,2B, and get a Hydraulic head of 90meter. And
you can maybe make 40TWh a year.
And you can add on more tunnels and turbines, and maybe get 180TWh, without
making the largest and most expensive power plant ever.
Let’s add some grid, and put in a margin here, let’s say 2B, for
increasing DRC Hydroelectric power production from 8 to 58TWh. That is cheap.
And if you want more power laiter, you just make a copy off the then existing
      plant, at the same location.
You got 41 000m3 a sec in each off this 2 waterfalls, or 64 Colorado
      Rivers..

Industrial agriculture is non-sense in to fragile grounds. We'll have to study the local mycorhizae, how to exploit them to not need any pesticides, but such farming is...gardening. However, about one active on twelve dedicated in gardening can feed a whole nation, and deliver a lot of raw materials ; the excedent is of a very high quality. I could master it - but my body didn't stand it for other reasons - in reputated very poor soils in French Guyana, on podzol on An-Moor...in the town of Mana. But it seems necessary to exploit those that are present... I wasn't able to identify the mycorhize, but was perfectly able to use it ans maintain it...aunts, in stead of destroying my cassaba, watermelon, ...did destroy exclusively amaranthe, cabbage and cyperus, ...so I knew it were mycorhizae.....Productivity/m² is very important, several times more than industrial production, but transport in and off the field is harassing... Very few machines can be employed..

It’s a scary project. It’s a positive project to transform the lives in Africa.
Experience from South Africa is that this is a type of project which makes politicians salivate and increase the opportunities of corruption.
The South African suspended nuclear project of 9600MW was approximately the same price as this and it was way too expensive for South Africa.
Does DRC have $80bn? I estimate that The interest cost of this project over 20 years would dry up foreign currency reserves of the DRC.
The environmental cost is not zero.
The involvement of foreigners (non Africans) in such a massive project raises my suspicions.
Electricity is a necessary product in Africa. I pray that we do this project cost efficiently,(Broad definition) peacefully and free of corruption.

The only reason they are able to do the genocide on the Uyghurs is because Muslims are not united. But they will eventually and China will be sorry for this genocide on the Uyghurs.
