  • Switching out the remaining Tamiya DT02 MS parts (TRF) to Tamiya DT03 standard parts and Hop-Up Options (DT03 Turn-Buckle Set) as well as some more GPM Racing Upgrades (DT03 Universal Axles and Outdrives).
    Doesn´t it make sense? Well, I needed the MS parts for a DT02 MS build and I wanted to re-spec this DT-03 to a cheaper and faster backyard basher - so it will get some more run time this season. Videos coming up! It will make more sense by then. In the meantime I hope this video will be useful to see some different upgrade options from both Tamiya and GPM.

    Just bought the basic kit now on sale for about 1200 nkr. Got some hop ups like ball bearings and the stuff tamiya sells. One problem i had was the C hubs, they cracked without running even. So i ordered some alu ones. Other than that i think its a cool kit to build and a good price with the cva dampers and torque tuned motor. I have yet to run it though.

    Oh lovely upgrades, Mikael! I especially love those GPM CVD axles, those ones you got there, they look like they will never twist or break, they are awesome! As always, I am looking forward to following along, see what you got in mind for ESC and servo upgrades, heh... Have a great rest of the weekend there!

      Hi Mads! Yeah, I do like these. Agree. Shocks are rubbish compared to Tamiya. But axles look sturdier than the Tamiya ones. Uhh, yeah, already got it fitted out ready to run. Cheap parts and electronics compared to before, but I am hoping that will mean I will use it a lot more 🙂 Hope you are having a great weekend in my Mother’s Beautiful country … bet it’s cold. Here not. Best wishes.

      Hi bro! Would not recommend the GPM shocks though.

    Hi there Mikael, some great upgrades to this versatile chassis. I see that you removed the ball diff, and replaced with the more traditional differential? I like the CV joints and axels, along with the upgraded steering links. Best wishes 😊

      Hi my friend! Yeah, I’m making this a cheaper and more maintenance free unit. It will get more run time then ☺️ The gear diff is a lot easier. Will ‘never’ need adjustments and wear our minimally. It got AW grease inside, so it has a limited slip too. Not as good as the ball diff, but definitely easier and less expensive to repair. I also think the GPM axles will last longer. So a unit now that is more suitable for my amateur-driving 😅 And I need the MS parts for a DT-02 project anyways. Best wishes my good friend

    Huh? I see a downgrade. Where's the missing part going? Are Balldiff, Universal, jointcup and Ballend going by new car?

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhh, yeah. Cheaper parts will mean I will use it much more (cheaper to repair etc.). And yes, restoring a DT-02 MS so need the parts ☺️

    What is the difference between the blue turnbuckles and the hop up option.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The blue/ black ones are just the old expensive Hop-ups, produced back in the days when the DF-02, DF-03 and DT-02 were new. Actually much better quality, as the new turn-buckle line for the DT-03 and TT-02B tend to ‘slip’ very easily when adjusting. But the new ones got longer rod ends so they are better when fully extended. Sorry for my lack of ability explains it in English but I hope it somehow makes sense.

    The gpm cvds are too big for the ball diff cups i think 🤔

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. And the ball diff outdrives doesn’t fit the standard diff bevel gears. Hence the GPM outdrives. Standard outdrives will do fine too.

    The GPM parts are by far the worst I have ever had. Like by far. I have several GPM upgrade parts and all broke. GPM Oil shock had irreparable damage, it just broke and oil leaked out. The Screw of the front C-Hub fell out TWICE and had to be replaced... Twice! The aluminium GPM rear shock tower was bent after ONE crash. Rear Aluminium Joins were bent both after one drive with some small jumps. Really, stay away from GPM
