I have had these views to some extent or another my whole life and until the watching of this video never known that any other living person shared my views. It always seemed so clear to my that one of the cornerstones of Christs teachings was that one must surrender the desire for comfort in all parts of life and that ALL is to be given to our Creator including the desire provide for our own needs as this as this implies a lack of faith that our Creator will provide for us as he sees fit.. No, it is not easy, it is like unto a labor of faith, when it comes to the giving up of worry, even in financial matters, that our Creator did not give us a spirit of fear must be remembered and this is a great comfort. also, one must be willing to be ever thankful even as what is provided may and oft is not what we would prefer for ourselves. we don't always get what we want but we get what we need. Thank you for sharing this video.

Thank you Brother John. The teachings in Luke have really impacted me too.
Luke 12:33 is a command from our Lord to all believers.
"Sell your possessions and give to the poor."
Jesus promises us that we not only lay up treasure in Heaven, but it also ensures that our heart will be focused on His Kingdom.
    12:33 [continued] to 34.
"Make money-bags for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
34“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Somehow this doesn't seem like the Dave Ramsey approach! 😂 A lot to think about from this episode. Thanks!

Haha. We think there are better approaches than Dave Ramsey’s.

Dave Ramsey does have some good advice about getting out of debt and living frugally to do so. Now, Dave Ramsey does promote individual financial security and financial prosperity "to live like no one else". The most important part that Ramsey misses is the group/church part of sharing and the urgency of the great commission. Many have and do use Ramsey's advice to live self -centered lives. A good counter example to Ramsey, is this perspective by J D Martin, as well as Dean Taylor's talk on the Moravian mission machine.

    Great testimony!
For the love of money is the root of all evil, period.

Great episode. I wonder how Brother John manages his day-to-day affairs on a practical level. It would be interesting how he manages his finances on a "shoestring" budget so-to-speak. I think this would be instructive for others attempting to take up voluntary poverty. Perhaps Reagan could ask for us?

Even though I dare to say that riches can be something noble. Non-material riches, that is :)

Now that is Obamacare minus corruption. Love it! :)

Obamacare is the secular government forcing people to buy specific health insurance. I think brother Martin is describing the redeemed in the church sacrificially caring for each other voluntarily.
