    Great review. I was looking to buy a new glider two years ago. The savage was on the list along with the delta and bonanza 2. I was a shame this this review was not available then, as I think I would have got a savage over a delta 4. On the basis of this review if one came up second hand I think I may be tempted to buy one.

    Good review! I've become slightly obsessed about fabric and according to the Supair manual, the Savage uses Skytex 27 Classic 2 for the outer surfaces ie double coated Skytex 27 @ 29 g/m2, plus Skytex 32 universal, which is my preferred combination and especially so in a lighter weight wing (albeit acknowleding that Ozone don't favour the double coated version). Nevertheless overall the Savage does have quite a light construction and hence, in my opinion, is quite sensitive to loading - when I flew it towards the top of the weight range for my size, I really enjoyed it but as I lost some weight and flew towards the middle of the weight range I felt there was too much movement for my personal tastes although I'm sure that others would be fine with that. It is a fabulous climber, as you rightly say! The speed bar is surprisingly limited at only around 10km over trim but on the plus side, the glide remains very good, and the wing solid, across that range plus it's easy to get to full bar (with a short travel.) Big ears are a delight and it's nice to have a wing with such a very usable capability ie no drama whatsoever and you don't think twice about using it, versus some wings that flap like crazy and put you off it a bit. I didn't get on with the brake-handles either and quickly swapped them out for the High Adventure versions - I don't think you mentioned that they have poppers rather than magnets, but that's fine with me as when I fasten the brakes to the risers I want them to stay that way. If you're looking for a lighter weight but performant hike & fly wing then I reckon the Supair Savage is well worth checking out. They really should have come up with a better name though.

    I think that brake handles have a significant influence to feeling the glider and for overall experience.

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey thanks for your input Aleksandr - that's interesting to hear! 😀 I suppose that although some pilots will feel they can adapt to different brakes others will also feel the same way as you. 🤓 Fortunately it's not too difficult to change the brake handles on any paraglider. 😊 However changing the brake handles usually involves changing the connectors (e.g. the magnets or press studs) on the risers, to match the ones on the new brake handles, which is best done by an expert seamster, using a suitable specialist sewing machine for sewing webbing, so this is best done by a paraglider service centre.

    Great review! Can you comment in how talkative the wing is compared to the Sigma 11 in terms of feedback communicated through the risers? You mention that it’s both comfortable and talkative but I don’t have a basis for comparison. Thanks!

    • @lewisjohn892
      @lewisjohn892 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very different wings and with different objectives but pilot demand wise, I reckon if you're comfortable on a Carrera Plus (which I flew for a couple of years), then you'd be comfortable on the Savage (which I've flown for the last 16 months) although noting my comment above about my [personal tastes of] finding the Savage more comfortable when fully loaded.) - performance wise I reckon you'll find the Savage is a good step up and the B-C handle is awesome (I really like that design/style)

      I have a suggestion for a video. What's the very least skill set I have to have to fly an epsilon 9? They told me in the brochure that the epsilon 9 would fly better in turbulence if you just put your hands up and didn't pull on the brakes. I just want to get in the air above 100 m and Stowe the brakes. Just weight shift and steer myself around in the sky. Since it's a high end B glider I just want to weight shift and sit on it and try and get it to fly to the right place and avoid using the brakes most of the time avoid active flying and just let the glider fly, no speed bar no brakes just with the trim attached and sitting in the seat like a lump if I don't want to turn. I'm 64 years old and poor and this is going to be the only thing I have and it's going to be my only chance to fly. I am never going to be a pilot like you or the other guys that fly bubble puts on these videos. When we get in the air and take our feet out early and stand up in the harness to get ready for the landing, the the drag increases. The glide ratio goes bad and the nose tips down. Does the speed increase? It seems to me it would. If you were flying standing up in the harness with your feet down brakes in the stowed position and you flew into turbulence or thermals or a rotor would you be less likely to collapse?

    • @turkeyphant
      @turkeyphant ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markmcgoveran6811 it's not a high end B. It's low mid and closer to low.
