    I was waiting for this review and it's awesome. Would you recomend it as a step up from the Alpha or still go with the Epsilon?

    • @pappmiklos6882
      @pappmiklos6882 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After the Alpha maybe a bit big step the DLS, for high B recommended the 60-100hrs/y in the air.. Epsilon could be a good choice next, if u're motivated in XC flights, the E8 is a super good glider, even better than the E9 if you can find one in good condition don't hesitate to get it.🖐️

    • @GadjoDrom
      @GadjoDrom ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s no way you should go strait from an A to a high B. Doesn’t make any sense. Go to a low-mid B like an Epsilon, Hook or Beat.

    Hello,
    great review, but if I may ask for one advice :)
    I am flying Epsilon 9 now for around 100 hours in strong thermaling summer conditions in south Spain.
    I consider myself pilot who is ready to step up, but what is the biggest difference in flying (feeling) between Epsilon 9 and Iota DLS.
    Worth the change?
    Little bit worried about DLS concept in dusty Spain :/

      @@GadjoDrom I bought IOTA and for now I am really happy.
      It seems durable, flies perfectly. Time will show how actually is going to be durable in the conditions we have here. I'll let you know ;)

      @@ivicatic thank you I appreciate it! I had the Epsilon 9 but traded it in for a new Iota DLS - hasn’t arrived yet. I was wondering how much better the Iota would be. I’m flying a Phi Beat whicb is amazing so I’m planning to keep flying that til at least the end of the year then switch to the Iota…

    • @ivicatic
      @ivicatic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GadjoDrom I don't know what to tell you exactly, as I am flying only Advance gliders from always.
      DIfference between Epsilon 9 and Iota, I see it in agility. I mean, in general what you would expect from Higher class glider.
      I started to fly it recently, and I can give you more info in 1 month when I am in really stronger conditions.
      ANd of course, pasve safety is visible as in any Advance glider :)

    Watching all of these reviews, and even testing the wings myself, i still find it difficult to make a choice between the Advance iota dls and the Skywalk chili 5. I do feel the iota might be a little more vivid than the chili, however i tested the Chili in a very different location that the iota - and i felt the chili had a wonderful glide.... i still can't decide which one is my next wing. I am interested to know what others have thought of these 2 wings.

      @@flybubblecarlo I like this Test at all. I will test the I-DLS, Chili5 and If possible the swift6 and than decide which one I will buy. The s6 IS currently much to expansive. At the Moment Arak air load at max 85 kg. I am very satiesfied with this Wing, climbing in weak and strong conditiions is amazing good,. never any Problems when even beside me Swing rast was collapsing several Times.

    How is the packing volume compared to the XI?

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo ปีที่แล้ว

      All being equal, the pack volume of the IOTA DLS is a little bigger than the XI. The weight difference, around 10-15%, gives an idea of the difference in pack volume. However the IOTA DLS is more durable. It also has more direct handling and better performance, as to be expected. If deciding between the XI and IOTA DLS, I'd only recommend the XI if pack volume and weight were really the very top priorities.

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo ปีที่แล้ว

      If smallest pack volume and lightest weight are the top priorities within the best current high B wings, I'd recommending looking at the Phi MAESTRO 2 light and Niviuk Ikuma 2 P.

    • @Parakitedude
      @Parakitedude ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have now tested the IOTA DLS 27 + companion SQR light 120kg in my new Weightless Medium in the weightless 70l backpack and it fit easily. I didnt repack the glider so i just took it delivery packed from advance and my feeling is that it is not rather compact packed so I belive after I repack in concertina it vill be even more easy to pack in the backpack.

      @GadjoDrom ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a Beat which I absolutely LOVE, next wing is the Iota DLS so I want to know this too. Aspect ratio on Beat is 5.31 Iota is 5.6 I think so hoping for even better performance

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great step up - I expect those who love the Beat / Light and are ready to upgrade will love the Iota DLS! I also expect they'd love the Maestro 2 / Light and Ikuma 3 / P, so you should have those high up on your list of nice handling wings to consider! 🪂🪂 🥰😍

      Well they are selling it so I guess they might emphasize positives a bit more. Can't really test durability in a short time though.

      @flybubblecarlo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, no Flybubble reviews or videos are 'sponsored' by anyone (other than Flybubble, who funds all of them - thanks to Flybubble customers for supporting us and making this possible). As with all of Flybubble reviews, this review is simply our honest opinion. Find out more about Flybubble: flybubble.com/about

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@betrion7 Actually if you compare with all other reviews you'll find that ours are often more critical than most others (to the surprise of some who assume otherwise because we sell gear). That's because we value honesty and putting the customer first above all else; we've built our reputation on this for over 30 years now. This doesn't mean we don't think we make mistakes. We know we do, just like everyone else does. We do out best to be self critical and always improve what we offer: flybubble.com/about

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ps. Since Flybubble offers very many top brands ( flybubble.com/brands ) this allows us to be more honest about each product. This is not always to the liking of the brand, but in the end we always put our customers first. In the end not brand offers the best products for everyone.

    • @vincentvuille5538
      @vincentvuille5538 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem: the Iota DLS is optionally available with softlinks & light risers with Xi style brake handles.

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for commenting and adding your input Charles! 🙏😀 As a regular contributor you're clearly very passionate about flying gear! 😊 As Vincent Vuille has already very helpfully commented, the IOTA DLS also offers the option of light risers with soft links and XI style brake handles, if preferred. 😊 On this note, it's possible to change just the brake handles of most wings to other brake handles if desired - however this usually involves changing the magnets or poppers on the risers, to match those on the brake handles, which should be done by a paraglider service centre (or at least a suitably experienced paragliding seamster with suitable materials and sewing machine). 🧵
