Genius!!!! Absolute genius!! You cannot imagine how many times I’ve made veggie burgers or falafel that have fallen apart and crumbled once they hit the oil..... I was SO skeptical about this recipe since no flour is added into the mixture itself, by my GOODNESSSSSS....these came out wonderful! I finished half a plate after they were fried as I couldn’t even wait til they had cooked up in the sauce. Delicious, delicious, delicious! And such a creative recipe for anyone on a plant based diet. It’s really difficult to find tasty, warming recipes like this that are meat free. Thank youuuuu for this incredible recipe! Pleaseeee keep posting more vegan dishes!
Definitely! Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest in the world. In fact the Greeks practicing Orthodox Christianity and vegan or vegetarian is a common thing to them especially during fasting…
Awesome recipe! Especially because it's vegan. You don't miss anything when eating it. One thing that I'm going to adjust the next time cooking this is that I'll use 6 tomatoes in the sauce and not 3 so the amount of sauce is higher
Hi...Akis...we do make little bulbs with chickpeas n after deep frying ,we add tomato n onion , chillies n eat like a kind of salad Also we prepare a gravy with indian spices n dip all fried bulbs into but without oregano. India version..
Yum, I have to try this! Love your recipes, I live in America and don't really know many Greek recipes even tho I'm half Greek. So it makes me happy to learn more delicious recipes! Thanks!
Hi, Akis! We make vegan koftas here in Bengal (India) with unripe plantain or raw jackfruit (which is cooked widely here as a vegetable before they ripen up in the summer) and make a nearly exactly similar tomato-based gravy for the koftas to serve with plain white rice. I think the concept must have been imported from the Middle-east back when in the historical time the Eastern part of India was a famous trade destination for cotton, muslin and ivory.
Now THAT is something I would try. Soutzoukakia has always been my favorite, especially with πουρέ. I wish my Mom was still here- she would have loved to try this recipe! Eυχαριστώ!
Thank you so much for vegetarian dish. Please do more videos on vegetarian please. I love your cooking and you are so charming and your recipes are delicious.
Good!!! There is a similar Indian dish called DHOKA CURRY. Basmati is common here but Joha rice is aromatic small soft tasty grain available in Norteast India. It certainly looks very tasty .
🙏 Akis, I love your recipes.. I enjoy dinning at Greek restaurant here in Southern California, you are an artist and you’ve for sure mastered cooking, it’s deliciousness 😋 🤤 its phenomenal I enjoy watching thank you for sharing., I would be so Blessed if ever my future husband can have such talent as you do especially in Greek food and Italian.. with all do respect Love you lots.., God Bless you and may your channel keep on growing.. 🥰💛☕️🍳🥘🍛🥮🍤🌯🥟🥗☕️🥐🍽
I love the Greek cuisine, and I'm thankful for your great recipes !!! all taste so great, I have no words for it, so awesome is everything you cook .... Thanks for all the vegetarian recipes ... you're just amazing...we cooked soutzoukakia yesterday ... just wow .. and the rice is so good, no words how unbelievable everything tastes...and of course. we only use extra virgin greek olive oil :-)
Thank you for this recipe. I really liked the "falafels" although I felt that the sauce's rather sharp tomatoey taste overpowered the more delicate taste of the soutzoukakia. Overall, a very pleasant dish. Will be making again.
This looks incredible!!! Thank you for sharing a vegan dish. Would love to see more Greek Vegan dishes. Wondering if these could be done in an air fryer for those of us watching our weight?
These Soutzoukakia look amazing! I love how you've translated a traditional meat dish to a plant-based alternative. Good for all the family - except my brother-in-law who won't eat vegan out of principle :D

I would have liked to see how much oil (and what type) you put in to deep fry them. That step seemed edited out or rushed. Other than that, awesome episode...I'm going to be making this in the next day or two. If you see this message, let me know how much oil for the deep frying. Hats off to you, Akis!
Very good recipe ! What about ancients Greek's food like lupines. You can make vegan burgers from lupine flakes, lupine miso, rosted chickpeas flour, herbs, caramelized onions, garlic, tomato paste, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, vegetable stock/broth and spices. This is a vegan burger, gluten free, soy free, non GMO, smells good and taste good and easy to select organic brands, to make organic food. Be carefulll for lupin allergy simular to peanut allergy!
Looks good but not so easy like Akis recipe! I read an article about lupins and the benefits in Agriculture. High protein food and white lupins are taste good, better than soya ! But lupins miso it's very difficult to find and not so easy to produce.

For the remaining dough I added an egg and more flour and raised the heat.

any alternative to frying? I hate throwing away a lot of oil and I don't have a fryer. Can I roast them in the oven or something like that?
If you filter it well enough, you can recycle the used oil to make natural soap.

What's your view on flat leaf parlsey versus curly parsley? Here in Sweden, curly parsley is the norm. Just curious.
I think the curly parsely does not have as much flavor as the flat leaf. For any of these Mediterranean dishes i would say flat leaf is my pick
@@Pannakoppala same situation here. In Indonesia it's hard to find the flat one. Almost all supermarket sell the curly ones only
why dont you order some seeds from Greece to grow?It is very easy
