Hi if you wish to achieve a high gloss finish you would need to use a semi permanent release such as Marbocote, if you need to use PVA best to when PVA is dry lightly rub over then buff off with a hard wax such as MG08 this will denib the surface of the PVA, try a sample piece, hope this helps, many thanks
also Im planing to make a custom "vacuum bag" from a polyuretan or lexan sheet streched over the mold, heating it up till it sags down into the mold and then connect the vacuum to form it. I will do this when everything is setup so it forms around the laminate and tubing with no bridging, ofcourse before I put the resin in I heat it again.... Do you have any thoughts about this? Im trying to find the most foolproof way to do it thats why Im going directly to vacuum infusion rather then handlayin
great video! Im building a carbon kevlar rc boat hull for competition so I need a smooth finish BUT using wax only may result in the hull sticking to the mold. I would like the whole hull smooth becouse Im going for a clear epoxy finnish rather then gelcote, however the most essntial area of the hull will be the plane surfice wich is only a couple of square cm, can I use a rubber spreader or a hairdryer on cool to get the PVA smoother? thanks mate
i use waxpol as release agent for my car parts. The biggest problem i have is that i have to remove wax nicely before from the parts before paint which takes a lot of time. Does anyone know the solution?
EastCoastFibreglass thank you 🙏 one more question, if you spray pva on a mold can let it set overnight or it has to be coat it with gealcoat right after it dries? Thank you for your time
