  • I came up with some different ways to use those full page 12x12 images and larger cut-a-parts as I was working through my Love & Devotions pad by Recollections.
    Let me know if you have any additional ways to use these parts of a 12x12 paper pad!
    Thanks so much for watching!

    I got stuck on what to do with those silly pages and my kids actually gave me an idea... Their favorite game at the time was "memory", where you have two of each picture and you flip them over one at a time to see if you remember where both of them are. (I think sometimes it's called match up or match two or something like that.)
    Anyway, I had two of each of a bunch of the 12x12 papers so I just glued them to cereal box cardboard and then cut them in squares with my paper cutter. The kids turned them over upside down on the table and then took turns turning two at a time over to find the matches. Kept them busy for about 27 minutes lol. (They actually played with them for quite a while, a few times.)
    Many years later, if I have a print that I think my grandkids will like I go ahead and do that again for them. Now though I cover both sides of the cardboard before I cut it so it's a little bit cuter.
    I've also taken some of them and used mod podge on a canvas to make home decor pieces as gifts.

    love the scrapbook layout you did, very cute! Your puzzle idea was great! Sorry it didn't work. I had made some 3 x 4 cards with some of the smaller pieces I had left so I decided to just use these big pages for the envelopes with my punch board. 3 x 4 cards use 6 x 6 for the envelopes so you get 4 envelopes per page with no scraps! It was a great way to use up my scraps and these at the same time.

      Great idea! Thanks! I have a good chunk of a pad of basic patterns in various colors that I could use for envelopes for 3x4 cut aparts from an Echo Park "Hello, Spring!" paper set. The colors are very close! Maybe I could use some on birthday cards. We have 3 great nieces with spring birthdays coming up, plus one with an August birthday. There are cut aparts that could be used for summer, too! Plus stickers.☺️

    You did a great job of cutting down the 12x12 sheets and the 6x6 cut aparts, to get them to fit on cards! Really fantastic, and I really liked how you laid them out on top of the intact page so we could see where they came from, and what was left over. One thought is that the larger rectangle from the red bordered page (around 5 min 30 seconds) could easily be turned into a tag just by trimming the white end into shape. The other thing I've done with both whole 12x12s and 6x6s, as long as they aren't directional - i.e. don't need a specific direction to be up facing up - and have nice designs in the corners, is turn them into the kind of gift card holder or tea bag holder that starts with folding a square into a triangle. Like the paper cups we made as kids, good for one time use? 12x12s with nice border designs can also be made into 2 booklet style gift card holders, folded from 4x12 strips, with the middle strip discarded or repurposed. Not sure if I'm explaining that well, but let me know if not and I can link some videos of the type of project that I mean. 🙂

    All great ideas! Thanks for sharing! I like the puzzle. I’m not very adept with using a craft knife either, but there is this blade called a finger blade. It’s a lot more comfortable and easier to use. It has a hole to slip your finger through, like holding a pencil. It gives me more control with the blade. Ordered mine on Amazon and it’s by Fiskers.

    Maybe try cutting the 12x12 paper by itself since we know it will cut that, then cut the chipboard piece and if that messes up you have more chipboard vs 12x12design paper. Then the tedious part glue all the cardstock puzzle pieces to the chipboard pieces once u figure out the cut settings. 🤔

    Hi Beth! Thank you very much for sharing ideas what to do with the full pages of the paper pads! I am trying to kill my first paper pad after being inspired by all your videos. I am working on a paper pad that is driving me nuts! At the same time I want to just keep working sometimes I get stuck specially because there are a few pages that I really don’t like it. What do you do when you find a paper that you really dislike? It’s not even good for background (pink paper with eye lashes printed on it).
    Thanks for the advice and keep up with the amazing crafts!

    • @BourbonCreekCrafts
      @BourbonCreekCrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For those patterns that you really don’t like, can you turn them over and use the white side (assuming they aren’t reversible)? Maybe for matting layers or to stamp on? I’ve done that before too.

    • @pjp9383
      @pjp9383 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're at all interested in mixed media type art, you could use those pages as a base for mixed media work. By the time you've layered paint and stencils and stamps on top, some colour might show through, and even the pattern but just faintly - we call that "texture." 🙂

    • @pjp9383
      @pjp9383 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paulistanaemoregon6617 I hope you do try! It could be a "masterboard," that you could then cut up and use in a variety of projects. I like the neat and tidy card making type crafting sometimes, but mixed media is more like playing was as a kid. It's intuitive and a little bit messy! Think finger painting, but upscale. 🙂 Lots of videos out there about masterboards, if you decide to go that route.
