  • More efficient combustion engines, new driving modes (such as coasting or fully electric driving), as well as modern driver assistance functions require modular and scalable vacuum-independent solutions for the braking system. With the iBooster, Bosch has developed a vacuum-independent, electromechanical brake booster that meets the demands of a modern braking system. The iBooster can be used with all drivetrain configurations and is particularly suited to hybrid and electric vehicles.

Two-stage gear unit - the upper gear is snail type. Therefore it wears down. Can that gear be changed easily? If not, we can call it planned obsolescence.

What if the electric motor fails, can you still brake? It seems the worm gear might prevent this.

The design itself assures there is certain amount of minimum pressure created even if the electric motor fails. The difference is it would be a hard brake.

The traditional vacuum brake booster will have hard brake feel when there is no vacuum or when engine is off. With this electric brake booster can you still have soft brake feel when engine is off?

The system is totally different of the old sensotronic principle, witch is still used in the hybrid Toyota/Lexus.
