  • The October 13th, 2022 meeting of the DuPage Birding Club featured a screening of Bob Dolgan's "The Magic Stump", plus a look at Chicago area breeding bird trends and why you should become a bird monitor.
First, the DBC welcomed Bob Dolgan, producer of two films on the famous Piping Plover pair, Monty & Rose. His latest production, “The Magic Stump,” focuses on a massive tree stump in Coles County, Illinois that has attracted many raptors over the years, including two rare Prairie Falcons. It's also a tale of birding camaraderie for three local birders. Learn more about the film and Bob's work here: www.turnstoneimpact.com/the-m....
At 36:00 the DBC’s Diann Bilderback leads a team of Bird Conservation Network (BCN) monitors in sharing breeding bird trends of the Chicago region. The Chicago region is a stronghold for breeding birds, representing an impressive green space that is of global importance for key avian species, according to the BCN's 22-year survey. Featuring DBC members Bob Fisher, Nancy Allured, and Vicky Sroczynski, the team review findings by habitat, look at the impact of proactive land management, and share highlights from their monitoring field experiences.
