  • The May 12th, 2022 meeting of the DuPage Birding Club featured a two-part program from Denis Kania and Dennis Streicher, both founding members of the club. The meeting was also our first hybrid in-person/Zoom meeting: an exciting return to the in-person era.
Longtime educator and warbler observer Denis Kania took the stage to deliver a spring warbler refresher. He focused on ways to create sub-groups of these 35 bird species, and also shared the virtues of studying the patterns of "warblers from below," the view we often get of these treetop dwellers. Explore this channel for more warbler content from Denis.
At 45:14, retired municipal water/wastewater manager Dennis Streicher spoke to the group about DuPage River Salt Creek Workgroup (DRSCW), a nonprofit coalition that creates innovative ways to preserve and enhance the water quality of our local rivers-the East and West branches of the DuPage River, Salt Creek, and their tributaries.
Dennis covered the scope of the organization and shared some of their accomplishments and future projects. The DRSCW has been so successful it has served as a model for similar organizations cropping up throughout the state. For more on the DRSCW go to drscw.org/.
Both presentations ended with a Q&A. For more on birds and birding in DuPage County, visit www.dupagebirding.org.
