    Hehe, so much fun to shoot and also the difference in string slap bruises for the sloppy of technique is astronomical!

    First time I've seen an eyebrow as a anchor point, but hey, if it works....

    Looks to me that the arrows are over spined for the #30 bow. Add more weight up front and that should lower the spine.

      I made them out of dowel rods from home Depot I'm not sure how to test spine on homemade arrows thanks for the if I'll take that into account if I make any more

    I have a new recurve 35 lbs I started with a low draw weight to learn instinctive shooting so as not to take the fun out of it!! If you can’t hold it at full draw what would the point be? I own 2 newer compound bows and an Excalibur micro cross bow..lots of options. If I like the recurve and become accurate with it I may hunt with it. But not till I get really accurate. Not interested in wound animals

    The correct way to string a bow is to use a bow stringer. Very easy to twist a limb and possibly destroy the bow using the step through method.

      @@user-le5gn5st6b never had an issue with it and neither has my dad that 40lb has been strung and unstrung that way for 40+ years and still shoots strait and the limbs are still perfect.

    the music is ruinnig the video, i had hard time listening you what you were saying but great video though.
    What i understood is that:
    30lbs - seems the arrow go slower and lighter and sometimes they hit the target in diagonal, dont know why it happens
    40lbs - seems more smooth and the arrow travel fasters and hit the target in straight line
    also would love if you summarize the video at the end explaining more which is more impactful and what the weight difference it does in your opinion and recommendation.

      THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK! In future videos I'll cut back on the music and add a summary! You hit the nail on the head with the summary. I wouldn't use the 30lb for anything but target practice to be honest and the 40lb is the absolute minimum for hunting deer but you need almost perfect shot placement for it to work well I use the 40 primary as a small game bow I have a 65lb compound that will be my deer and elk bow. Thanks again for the comment really helps me when I get feedback from the audience. 👍

    The one is a longbow , by definition if string doesn't touch the limb when bow is braced , its a reflex longbow , not to be a term nazi lol , great heirloom pieces

  • @xxshooterxxdm
    @xxshooterxxdm 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That's a reflex deflex long bow. A recurve bow the string touches the belly of the bow a long bow it does not

    Never string a bow like this, especially a vintage one. Buy a stringer or worst case use the push/pull method. Step through no good. Stringing this way is asking for limb twist.

      @hookersbladesforge  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Never had an issue with it. My dad has been stringing thet vintage 40lb that way for over 40 years and it doesn't have any twist in either limb

      50 years of shooting recurves up to 70# stringing them this way and never once have i had a twisted limb,.

    I have to say your drawing technique looks actually not that good… u bend your drawing arm way to much inwards. your elbow has to be up while your underarm is parallel to the horizon so you are shaping a nice angle with your upper arm. I recommend using first shoot some more with the 30 pounder until u got the movement right. otherwise u will damage your back and shoulder.

      This video is from when I hadn't practiced very much. I've definitely improved on it since. I also have a 3 torn muscles on my right shoulder from when I used to do MMA that never healed correctly so I have some limitations to how I can move it. Thanks for the pointers tho.

      This was filmed quite a few months ago I have been learning a lot about how to shoot a bow. At the time I filled this I hadn't been shooting very long I've definitely learned a lot about how to shoot properly
